Thank you so much for another informative video. Is it possible for you to do one from Haneda airport please?
The video was very informative and well-produced. I especially liked the fact that the host showed the difference between the different train options. I think this would be very helpful for first-time visitors to Tokyo. What is your favorite thing to do in Tokyo?

5:16 most important bit, thanks.
skyliner, requires 2 ticket = passenger ticket (can use IC card) + liner ticket
yes, you're right! thanks!
If you don't have IC Card, then you have to buy one passenger ticket, right?
The best video which describes what I want to know! 🎉Only other question I have is if there's a limit on number of luggages you can bring in and size of luggage allowed ☺️
Thank you so much!🙏 technically you can bring up to 2 large suitcases.
wow,thank you,
thanks!
Merci beaucoup 😊
De rien! Glad you liked it!^^
The Skyliner has been more convenient for me than the Skyliner since my preferred place to stay in Tokyo is in Asakusa. It was no big deal for me to go from Tawaramachi a couple stops over to Ueno and to the train.
Hi! I'm staying near to Tawaramachi, wuuld you recommend to take this route?
Thank you for detailed video
thank you!
Thanks for making great vdo, and that really helpful and you just made my trip easily, by the way i am traveling to Japan next month, so what is the best convenient way to do money exchange from US $ to JPY. should i do it right at the airport? or anywhere that give me a better rate? thank you in advance :)
Thank you for creating this great video.. It’s very simple and easy to understand about the Skyliner especially for the first timer traveller to Japan like me.. One question I’d like to make sure is what sleepabout the maximum size of suitcase that can be brought inside the Skyliner? My suitcase is large size, 32inch, is it possible to bring it on the train?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 yes you can bring it on the train. there's a space to store it. if you're early, you can leave your suitcase there. if not, you can just keep it at your seat.
Thank you for the very clear, concise and informative video. I want to ask if I want to take the Shinkansen train to Nagano, which stop should I take to switch to JR Line?
thanks! you can go to Tokyo station and switch to the shinkansen to Nagano there.
this is a wonderful video thanks :)
1 question: what about luggage in the skyliner?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 you can bring up to 2 large suitcases beside your personal items like backpacks.
Hi! Appreciate the well informed video 😁 how about luggages? Can we store them while boarding the train? Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 you can bring up to 2 large suitcases beside your personal items like backpacks. the space for storing large suitcases is quite limited. so you may want to come to the platform early as it's first come first serve for that storage. but the leg space is quite generous enough to keep a large suitcase at your seat (if you have to)
Great video thanks for sharing this value information. Quick query, is the maximum amount of tickets 3 or can I buy more?
Thank you so much!🙏 yes you can buy more, that is just the quick menu.
I was actually confused by this the last time when I got to Nippori. I didn't realize when I got off, it was where I should have bought my ticket for the JR line. I just put in the Skyliner ticket I bought at Narita into the gate and it let me in, but there was no place for me to buy a ticket at that point. I ended taking the train to Shinjuku and explaining to the attendant at the gate that I didn't have a ticket from Nippori and they just charged me that fare amount to let me out of the station.
Thank you very much for explaining the process of buying a ticket. Having the two sections (ticket plus liner ticket) is needlessly complicated, but probably a bit easier to do without using my IC card.
(I have a hand injury so trying to use an IC card and insert a second ticket will be too awkward. Looks like I'll be spending another 13 yen! :) )
right! take care and have a great trip! thank you so much for watching!^^
It’s not complicated. You get just one ticket. Do you have a problem?
Best video so far. I love your beautiful voice, so nice and comforting :) . We will be arrive there on Dec 23 and have to go to Nappori station to catch a train to our hotel in Kawaguchi .
Do the machine take virtual Suica card from iphone?. I did not see a card reader there on the machine, maybe have to use a physical IC card.
Thanks
Thank you so much!🙏 you're right, seems like the old machines do not take virtual suica card. in that case, it's best to just buy a paper ticket from Narita all the way to Kawaguchi at the ticket counter. other cases you can use the virtual card pretty much any where. you can even charge the virtual suica card at ticket vending machines like a physical card. due to the chip shortage, they've stopped selling the physical ic card. even stopped selling the Welcome Suica card at Narita Airport from Dec 18 2023.
@@ONEGOODDREAM We need to get a physical IC card somewhere for a family member who does not have an iphone to install virtual IC card. What are other options do we have if there is no IC card available?
@@jamescc2010 you can buy a Pasmo Passport card (paid by cash only) at a ticket counter at Keisei station at Narita Airport (right across the hall of the JR station). or you can buy a Welcome Suica card later at major JR stations like Shinjuku station, Shibuya, Tokyo Station. else, you have to buy a paper ticket every time.
btw, when you say Kawaguchi, you mean Lake Kawaguchi (i.e. Kawaguchiko) or Kawaguchi city in Saitama?? the direction is quite different...
@@ONEGOODDREAM Kawaguchi city in Tokyo, not Mt. Fuji. Thanks
This video is really helpful to me. I'm going to stay in Ikebukuro. Going to Tokyo in October this year.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much!
Great Video! Very informative and nicely explained for a first time visitor like me. When I have both passenger ticket and Liner ticket, which one needs to be put first in the slot of the platform gate? when I use the machine to buy 3 adults tickets in a single transaction, can I select seats for each passenger? Which side of the train would you recommend for better view?
thank you so much! 🙏 if you buy both passenger and liner ticket, they gonna be combined into 1 ticket, so no worries, just insert that ticket at the gate. the left side of the train is the same side with Tokyo Skytree, but the Skyliner machines don't let you choose seat from a seat map. you can only choose window/aisle seats.
Thank you for your informative video. What's the best seat for a person using a wheelchair?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 I'm not sure about that. there's usually a reserved space for wheelchair seats. when you buy the tickets, just tell them your request about wheelchair and they will help you out. there'll be a station staff taking you all the way to the train and to your seat.hope this helps.
Thank you for the very informative videos! I was wondering if we could use our mobile suica/pasmo to charge at Narita Terminal?
Thank you so much!🙏 Yes you can charge your mobile Suica at ticket machines at NARITA Airport (check the JR station)
very informative video , thank you, whilst i am travelling around japan visiting places is it just tokyo i need to aviod rush hour on public transport, how about kanazawa or osaka? its a bit of a pain watiing till 10 am to be able to start a day trip
Thank you so much!🙏 Tokyo and Osaka, super crowded. but it should be fine after 8:30am.
This is so informative. Thank you! We need to get to Asakusa Station from NRT. We are going in September and will have a JR pass; however, you’re saying it’s much quicker with the Skyliner. What would you recommend using? Also, how do we get to Asakusa? I so appreciate you help thank you!!
Thank you so much!🙏you can take the Access Express (7:48) to go directly to Asakusa station from Narita Airport for about 1 hour, no switch. but you can't use the jr pass for this train. Asakusa is not the best place to take full advantage of the jr pass since it's not a JR area.
Thank you for sharing, I love this video!
I'll stay near Tawaramachi station in Asakusa. Do you recommend to take the Skyliner and Ginza line or do you know a better way to get there?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 you can also consider taking the direct train Skyliner SkyAccess from Narita Airport to Asakusa station.
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you for taking the time, I'll try it
@@DanielFortiz you're welcome^^
Helpful video! What is the difference between a Liner ticket and a Passenger ticket?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 a passenger ticket/basic ticket is to get on a train. a liner/express/bullet train ticket is to get a reserved seat on an express/bullet train. an IC card can only pay for a passenger ticket at the entrance/exit gate.
@@ONEGOODDREAM Thank you! That's clearer now. I also saw one video where he only used 1 liner ticket to get in the train by inserting it at the gate. He got it from a voucher he bought online though, not sure how that is different.
@@adrianjason13 you can buy the total ticket (liner + passenger ticket combined) in one piece of ticket too.
Nice video! Just 1 question. Can i take an Skyliner from Terminal 1 or i should move to Terminal 2?
Thank you so much!🙏 yes you can take the Skyliner from T1.
Thank you for your video. Do we still need buy train ticket at counter / machine if we already have suica ?
Yes, for this particular train you do. You buy a specific 'Liner' ticket (1300yen) and put that in the ticket gate machine, and scan your Suica at the same time (and it will be charged 1257yen). The Suica is for the general passenger charge and the 'Liner' ticket is a separate charge.
@@ChuckieMcHaggis and when i arrive at Ueno station i have to exit through the ticket gate machine again, do i put the liner ticket and suica again when i leave the railway platform? does the liner ticket than stay in the ticket machine and i can switch to JR lines with my IC Card? Or how does the exiting work from skyliner?
Thank you for good video and info.
I have only one question, what if I bring big luggage, is there any space in the train for it? Thanks
hi, it's an airport train so it has space. it just doesn't have a dedicated space for large luggages. people just keep their luggages with them while they stand or sit on the train. you can have up to 2 big luggages (i think around 250cm or so).
@@ONEGOODDREAM thanks for reply. Another useful info 👍
I’m arriving at midnight 😢 is there any trains/bus at this time?
Can we use kaisei train to go to Tokyo?
Thank you so much for your video! It shows the exact route I'm going (NRT to Ueno Station). I will be coming to Japan in the spring and I looked onto google maps on how to get from Narita station to my hotel which says I should take the skyliner to Ueno station then transfer onto the Ginza line. I just wanted to ask about how does the train stations do luggages? I looked into Yamato service and that seems like a good alternative, but seeing that on the skyliner you can have luggages with you, I just want to know if there are requirements?
Hi, basically you can have up to 2 pieces of large suitcases. it's an airport express so if your suitcases are accepted by the airlines, in terms of size and weight, they should be fine with these express trains. but unlike the airlines, they don't check/measure your luggages before you get on the trains. so as long as you can manage your luggages, it should be ok.
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you so much!! how about the metro trains? do they have any restrictions about luggages?
same thing for subways. but be sure to avoid rush hours! as you probably won't be able to get on subways/trains.
If I arrive at Ueno Station, do i insert my paper ticket and put the IC card at the exit like you did it at entering the rail platform? the paper ticket will be stuck than inside the machine ? and than i can switch to metro lines with my IC card, right?
Hello. Will Apple Pay Suica work to buy Liner ticket at the machine?
Hello... thank you, I thought your video was great but I was wondering if you could tell me how to get from Narita airport to Oshiage Station (sky tree)? And can I buy the ticket in advance from Canada?
Hai thanks for the video, very informative. How about we buy the skyliner ticket with app like klook can we reedem it on the vending machine? Bcos we will be arrive at narita around 9pm
hi, i have no idea about that app... but you can buy at the ticket machines anytime.
What is the seat number for windows seat that we should choose to see Mount Fuji? Because I’m not sure which side does the skyliner starts from. Thank you!
hi,how about from narita to akasuka station?your kesei destination only nippori and ueno?thanks
Thank you for all the details. Ss Ueno is the final stop of this train? Is it better to buy the ticket in advance, say thru Klook?
Thank you so much!🙏 yes, Ueno is the last stop of this train. but if you want to transfer to a JR train, it's easier to transfer at Nippori station instead. I'm not sure if you need to buy the ticket in advance since it just takes a few seconds to buy at the station.
Will the skyliner always have tickets for all train timings? I am thinking whether it is necessary to buy tickets online or tickets can be bought at ticket counter on the day itself
hi! question do i get the same liner ticket going to sky access express to oshiage or ic card is enough?
Narita express has a discount for foreign passport holders, after discount, is the skyliner still cheaper? Or is it just faster?
Do you know clip guide of from Naảit
Which one is best and affordable to buy transportation for 6 days from Narita airport to Disneyland to Disney sea to hello kitty puroland to Kyōto to Osaka to Narita aiport ?
Hi, your videos are so helpful, keep making them. What if my IC card is added to my apple wallet? How is the process like then? 😅 tq
Thank you so much!🙏 if you have a digital ic card, you can buy the liner ticket only like I did at 6:55. and at the gate, you insert the ticket and tap your phone.
@@ONEGOODDREAM Awesome. Arigato 🎉
Hello! Thank you very much for the video, it helps a lot for a beginner like me for a first timer in Tokyo. I want to ask regarding the ticket to ikebukuro from nippori. On the video at 11:50, If I have a SUICA card, I still need to put my liner ticket inside the machine to pay? Thank you!
HI! Thank you so much for watching!🙏 if you have a Suica card, you can buy the ticket like I did at 6:53. and at entrance gate, you need both, ticket + Suica, at 7:34. and the same when you exit the Skyliner at Nippori, ticket + Suica. The gate at 11:50 is a 2-in-1 gate, it lets you get out of the Skyliner and into the JR station at the same time, so when you tap the Suica card there, it will end your trip on the Skyliner and begin your trip on a JR train. When you get off at Ikebukuro, you just tap the Suica only. If you buy a train ticket, please keep it at all time because you need to insert the ticket at the exit gate at your arrival station. (if you lose the ticket, you may have to pay for it again at the arrival station) hope this helps..
@@ONEGOODDREAM Great, thank you very much for the information!😁
What would be the best option from narita to shinagawa Station?
you can take the Skyliner to Nippori and switch to Yamanote Line to Shinawaga station. or, you can take the Narita Express directly to Shinagawa station. either way is fine. it's really up to personal preference..
Hello, is the first train from Tokyo to Narita (5:40 am) very busy on a Sunday ?
Hi, trains are usually a lot less busy during weekends.
We are traveling from Narita Airport to Kyoto in a month. What express train and route do you recommend? Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for watching! Are you doing Narita airport - Tokyo - Kyoto - Tokyo - Narita airport? the optimal route might be different depending on your itinerary and budget too..
@@ONEGOODDREAM When we arrive to Narita airport, we are heading to Kyoto immediately to start our trip > then traveling to Hakone for a few days and finally to Tokyo before heading back to Narita Airport.
@@LoriLee-cv8tuin that case i'd take the airport bus from Narita airport to Tokyo station (1300y, 65-70min). the bus stop is right outside the shinkansen station so it's easy to get on a shinkansen to Kyoto. you can check out how to buy the shinkansen ticket in advance to get a cheaper rate: czcams.com/video/1HanXXUv6y8/video.html
@@ONEGOODDREAM Given the above itinerary, do you recommend the purchase of a 7-day JR pass? Can you take the JR from Kyoto to Hakone? We are planning travel from Narita Airport to Kyoto > Osaka > Kyoto > Hakone within days. I appreciate your advice.
@@LoriLee-cv8tu yes, personally i'd get a jr pass with that itinerary. and i'd pay 1300y for the bus to get to tokyo station and exchange for the pass there instead of doing so at the airport, depending on the line at the time. check out how the jr pass works in real life fyr: czcams.com/video/DjltyiVnr_w/video.html
Hello Greetings from Australia...in your video you mentioned you need a passenger ticket and a liner ticket? i am confused about this... first timer to Japan in September :)
Hi, thanks for watching! yeah it's confusing :) that is if you want to pay for it separately though. to keep it simple, you just need to buy 1 ticket (that combines a passenger ticket and a liner ticket) as demonstrated at 5:43. if you have an IC card, you can use the IC to pay for the passenger ticket and just buy the liner ticket (see :47). hope this helps..
@@ONEGOODDREAM thank you makes sense now. We plan to get JR pass as we going from Narita-Kyoto-osaka-Narita airport to fly home. If we had known we would have flew out of Kansai….😂😂😂
@@mystiqal888 if you get the jr pass, take the Narita Express instead of this train cuz the narita express is covered by the jr pass, this train isn't.
@@ONEGOODDREAM we most def will as out plans are now narita straight to Kyoto most likely 4 nights then Osaka 3 nights to utilise the pass and then the rest of our days in Tokyo then train back to Narita and home but on the way to Tokyo we will just have to pay the normal fare as the JR pass would have expired. Thank you :)
@@mystiqal888 sounds great! check out Himeji Castle if you have time. and on the way back, you can take the limousine bus from tokyo station to narita airport for 1/3 of the price and almost same time ;) have a great trip!^^
