Meet The Heritage Fleet - NJ Transit Rail Operations 40th Anniversary
I have a New Future Steam Locomotive for me.
I still like the sound of a train. I don't know why the clack-clack-clack is very soothing to m3.
@Celeste8333PHX that is exactly why we love to see and hear the trains go by both on our trainboard and in real life. Thanks for sharing. Gary
on the erie railroad's Erie Limited.
That is correct!
@@TheTrainboard i have an Idea for the erie railroad.
@@maxwellwalcher6420 what's your idea?
@@TheTrainboard for the Erie would C&O 2760 and CP 1286 carry the Erie Limited and the Lake Cities Limited for me please.
That would be nice, but I'd prefer if the 614 did it. 😉
Real nice video shot there. It's hard to catch trains in NJ, because there are so few excursions and rail museums. Bravo
Cheeto big boy 💀💀😭
Cheeto's are clearly orange, and this is Aspen Gold.
Beautiful boys!
Thank you!
Nice👍
Thanks!
Some fine double black bonnet
As a Rio grande foamer, I do not know how to react to this.
You know you want to like it 😏
@@TheTrainboard no
I prefer the black but still not the worst livery out there
Just might have to get a black one some day 👀
Hell yeah
🤘
I like lionel but the curved tracks are just not correct....to sharp
We agree, but we could not fit larger than 072 with our track plan. The next layout will have larger radius curves for sure.
We hope they run the j611. It's so special. We hear that much of the virginia staff, standard bears and housekeepers for the j611, have resigned. We hope all is well with the j611 and future excursion runs.
Loving those high cube colors, for sure
Great video guys! I enjoyed your content!
Thank you!! Lots more coming soon!
I wound not get this engine bc i have a ho scale polar express already,
@michaeltischer7195 does your ho engine have sound. I recommend one of my favorites ho channels, mouldy raspberry, to you. His channel is amazing. Thanks for commenting. Gary
love the fantasy scheme
Brother EWWWWW
Ikr? So weird!
I can never get enough of the yellow fellow 👍😃🚂
@@dantiel4179 we wholeheartedly agree. Gary
Rio grand train
Still more to come!
The #4800 locos, Pensy and Conrail are "Old Rivets" the original body shells and graphis. You probably couldn't tell and Lionel barely mentioned it.
Yeah, Lionel should have made it more apparent. @Dakman showed the real #4800 in his latest video, and you can see the rivets. - Ryan
Preorder GG!s $1420 Charles Ro. Even non-preorder price would be not much more than other dealers preorder.
@@davidjenkins1484 we appreciate charles ro very lowest prices, best shipping charges bar none. The tradeoff is no 6 month paypal financing. We then have to find a credit card that gives 18 months with no interest. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Sure I understand. I'm ordering the "Old Rivets" Pennsy #4800 from Ro.
@davidjenkins1484 I hope you post a video because is should look espially nice. Not certain what cars I'd run with it but there are many choices. Gary
Whistle sounds a little wet
I love that engine and everything about it. Thanks for commenting. Gary
Don't you love that whistle? It's more like an ocean liner than a steam engine!
Its in my top 3 whistles--daylight , 611, and ....
Charles Ro has better prices, if you're ordering one or two expensive locomotives. If you're planning to spend more than $4,000, Mr Muffin's will give you a better price.
We love Mr. Muffin! We'll have to discuss our pre-orders with him.
Did you know James has his own passenger coaches (cars) Like Thomas there is two of them and they’re red with black roofs and they’re on the Lionel website brand new Speaking of James he is missing his 2 front guide wheels . They can be replaced on the Lionel parts store to be purchased and fit onto the front of the model Then you have a complete James model and his coaches to go with him
I've actually already replaced his guiding wheels, and I've acquired his coaches. New Thomas & Friends videos are coming soon! Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss them! - Ryan
Oh . I have been subbed since the first video That and your name is also the same as a thomas character called Ryan . Tho Lionel never made him sadly because by the time he appeared in the show Lionel stopped making there thomas models Oh and someone has acctually made a custom lionel gordon model . On CZcams
That’s cool . Tho when can we see it . That and your also missing 2 diesel characters . Arry and Bert the twins . They’re very rare so you may not find them . But any luck and you will Also you can replace that second Thomas chimney piece on the Bachman website too . Maybe order that . And someone made a custom O scale gordon . Find it on CZcams and take a look
Thanks for being a subscriber! I'm always on the lookout for Arry and Bert. I've seen the combo pack once on eBay, but they were conventional, and for the price, it wasn't worth it. I'm hoping the LionChief versions show up someday. I've seen that Gordon you're talking about. Someone has also made a custom Henry. I saw a clip of him running on a club layout. - Ryan
@@TheTrainboard oh . WAIT SOMEONE MADE HENRY . where and how . If it’s on CZcams can I get the link please Anyways . Maybe you can make an Edward model . It’s simple . Re paint James . Get a second James and modify the cab by sanding down the whilstle and painting the guy blue . From there add the details like the red stripes on the model and re att arch everything and then somehow get a number 2 sticker or something on the side of the tender . Then done That’s how you make Edward .
Gents, nice video and beautiful engine! The model you have with the low "pancake" fan is a F-3 Phase II late production. As indicated by another commenter, your engine does not have the steam generator to provide heat and hot water for passenger cars. Some A and B units were ordered with or without them, depending how how many AB units were used for passenger or freight service. Or how the order was placed with EMD, such as ABA, ABBA or AA combinations and quantity. Example a ABA unit might have one steam generator over the B unit for a short train. For a long train you might see a steam generator over each A unit and not for B unit, or another other combo then mix in other railroads... When passenger service declined in the late 50's thru 60's many red/silver A&B war bonnets that had a steam generator for passenger service, were painted freight blue/yellow. So it is not uncommon to see a blue/yellow freight with a steam generator (disabled). In fact, the smaller tank next to the fuel tanks is for water for the steam generator. Back to fans... Your other model that was bought previously is a F-3 with the high "flat top" fan is an early F-3. Lionel postwar F-3's were the lower pancake style fans phase III with chicken wire in the center and horizontal slats side grills. When the F-7 came out, they all used the newer pancake fan and instead of the screen slots behind the cab, it was a pancake style fan. All F-3 phases use the slot style fan behind the cab. And it can get confusing when "chicken wire" side grills vs. horizontal slot grills (your model) came into use. Take care and enjoy your trains!
Very interesting, and thanks for the history. We plan to start adding some history into our future videos. We hope you continue watching! - Ryan
Gorgeous. One or the best paint schemes out there.
Agreed, without a doubt!
Tank engine and Centipedes are pretty cool combo
Small steam and big diesel, an usual combo indeed.
We have two s's today--a sante fe and a sunoco tanker array
How much heat does that throw off!
"Hotter than the blazes of hell and damnation itself"
@@TheTrainboard LOL
That big guy trying to fit itself around that curve is hilarious!
Yeah, we really wish we had the room for larger radius curves.
This is absolutely cursed and I love it.
That's a helluva nostalgic shot in front of the water tower. Great video!
Thanks Uncle Salty!
Love that sound
@ungowa1002 yes, also a favorite of mine. Thanks for commenting. Gary
Looking at this SW8 switcher, we clearly see how easily, quickly, and quietly it moves to be a good work horse.
I see you have been Buying from Pat's Trains in Wheeling WV. I was up there the other day and purchased one of his new B&O F3 Engines and a few other items. He's about a 40 minute drive away.
@jebbthetrainkid1281 yes, I'm Mr. Black bonnet and only pat does mutiple black bonnet custom runs. Until a few years ago, I'd never seen black bonnet sets. Thanks for commenting. Gary
That’s so awesome.
@SonicMonumentStudios52 yes, we love those gold, black, and grey colors. Gary
@@TheTrainboard me as well.
Some black bonnet goodness, multiplied by two.
I was a post war guy long ago but sound makes these runners so very much better. Gary
My wife would shoot me with two bullets. 1 for the color, she don't like yellow 2nd for the price of the locomotive if she found out. Neat though
Looks like Tron!
@UncleSalty-nz5uk matt, tha tunnel has been there for probably 40 years to get to the northeast vorridor track going out of nyc, mostly without those led lights. Thanks for commenting. Gary.
Jeez! Like something out of a Sci-Fi movie!
@wayneantoniazzi2706 that didn't initially occur to me, your right on
@@TheTrainboard I'll tell you what, it's a lot more eye-catching than the 100 year old austere and plain concrete pedestrial tunnels at the Ridgewood NJ train station! Which are actually kinda cool in their own right, almost like a trip back to 1914!
@@wayneantoniazzi2706 absolutely. Wish they did lights way more often.
Cool Conrail diesels.
@huntercoleman460 absolutely, hunter. Thanks for commenting. Please tells us your favorite railroad. Perhaps we can do a run session for you. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Chicago & Northwestern.
@huntercoleman460 hunter, we think we have a special run with you in mind.
So Lionel fixed it? Hopefully you can get years of fun from it Ryan you are lagging behind Where is the CNJ heritage unit?😃 Looking forward to seeing you at Edison
I can confirm that Lionel did not fix it. We're still working through it. We will update everyone when we know more. As for the CNJ heritage unit, they just don't do it for me. I prefer in-service CNJ locomotives. Look forward to seeing you at Greenberg as well! - Ryan
Nice! Those Lionel CN Moguls are a bit on the pricey side so I'll be shopping for a good used MTH Mogul and make a Strasburg version on my own. No rush though.
@wayneantoniazzi2706 wayne, actually wish we had purchased used.80 percent of my collection has been purchased used. Some real problems, but mostly a good experience. I actually like the size of lionel and American flyer post war but miss sound too much. I have a 1931 ish, 1951 lionel and 1956ish American flyer. 20 years ago ebay was ok, not now. I find the auction house sales good, but they are mostly not east coast so shipping and insurance is crazy. Now, except for the greenberg shows, and the hirailers club, nj has few model trains and probably 3 train guys. Gary
@wayneantoniazzi2706 I am a big mth guy, mostly of the mike wolf era, less so now with rich foster. I'm finding serious quality problems with current lionel and their warranty repair wasso very, very disappointing, even deceitful. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Hi Gary! I'd have to say most of my collection I've bought used and have had pretty good luck with, probably because I've bought them from fellow club members who know I'll come after them if it doesn't work! 🤣 I've also had good luck with Trainz. My MTH Blue Comet set was bought new because you just don't see them used anywhere! Also my MTH N&W 611 starter set was bought new. There's a Greenberg show coming up here in VA next month I'll be going to. Not as good as the Edison and I'm not really looking for anything right now but who knows what's going to find me? Anyway, it's a fun day out!
Blasphemy
@farmerdave7965 dave, this and the pacemaker red steam engines are the only fantasy schemes I like. Normally, I'm protypical. Thanks for commenting. Gary
Some high cube box cars. Obviously, we have so far to go in landscaping and modeling on the trainboard. So far to go....
When was this filmed?
@@ShluffyDaMonster in the last 3 weeks. Gary
@@TheTrainboard nice video! I've now been seeing 4509 operating diesel mode out of hoboken
@@ShluffyDaMonster what I really want to see is that diesel soecial oaint job wrapped in the atlas o colors. Have not beeb able to catch it. I'm thinking it runs on more local tracks, not the notheast corridor. Gary
Most of my furthest journeys began and ended here.
@sposecosmic always think a surprise journey will pop up. Just plan it, save up real slowly, and ...Gary
Well this was timely! There's a big Metropark article in this month's "Railpace!"
Wayne, your knowledge and there at the right time never cease to amaze. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Thanks Gary! Don't ask how, I can't figure it out myself! Say, are you gents going to be at York this October? I'm going myself (unless something happens) and if so I'll keep an eye out for you!
@wayneantoniazzi2706 wayne, ryan wants a trip to see the 614 steam engine, it's on static display somewhere down south, about an 8 hr ride. It's now painted green as the presidential. I vote for the Baltimore museum and roundhouse, we've never been. oct york is possible, although our budget is already spent, given what is coming in sept. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Gary, if you can see one or the other but not both I'd go with the B&O Museum, especially if you've never been there. 614's in Clifton Forge VA and while there's some pretty country up there 614's all that C&O museum's really got. The B&O Museum's a sight to see, trust me on that, plenty of locomotives and other things on display. You won't be disappointed!
