    The shelter dog analogy is so keen. We see the dog being abused and we treat the dog accordingly with patience and sympathy. When a human comes out of abusive relationship, they are withheld and can't be showing their true emotions. An abused person can speak of their experiences and be completely ignored. Weird

    Here's the dumb part. They push us into therapy by telling us it's our fault, but they're the ones that end up alone because we start setting boundaries and grayrock them. You would think they would be smarter than to cause issues between people and gossip in front of others and for no one to catch on.

    This describes my mother, father, sister and her husband, and my kids' father to a T! I am good when they need me and they so-called love me and are engaging and then the next minute that I can't do something for them when I just did a million things for them, they will dismiss me, they will make my life miserable, they will get very verbally abusive, talk horrible about me and behind my back in a group! And that's just to name a few! I just recently realized how narcissistic they all are! I want to find a way to distance myself! 😢

    What attracts narcissists is not empathy so much as vulnerability, the shaky self-esteem they can almost sniff out in people. But what stood out for me in this podcast and a surprisingly large number of comments is something else. I'm honestly shocked that a woman could go on and marry someone sge was never attracted to or someone she actually found physically repulsive for any reason or no reason at all. There has to be a deep, deep woundedness inside for a person to override something as basic physical repulsion and choose to become intimate with, let alone marry, a man she's not attracted to. To choose to sacrifice erotic pleasure, as if the pleasure of our bodies were somehow shallow or superficial or unimportant. As a woman, I find this very disturbing.

    Young children can’t be at fault for things, that’s not how the natural life process works. Children need help with growth, not control or shame to *force* them to be a certain way. I didn’t receive any normal guidance either when I was young. And anyone who has made it to adulthood can count themselves as survivors and be a little proud about that.

    One of the therapists asked me about my boyfriend problem with alchool if i m sure that i did not make him to become an alchoolic . That was the last therapy session with her. Vlad(ex boyfriend) had an alcoholic father , a history in his family and he also drinks even today, 20 years later ,therefore, I am not the cause of his alcoholism.my luck that intuition saved me several times from the hands of these therapists who, in fact, don t want you evolve out of the trauma but will keep you in their chair to make money off of you with the help of guilt. Sad but real .I am a little desperate that in my city, i cannot find a good therapist on this traumas because i have the same as Ingrid and I don t see a way out .,I am trying for over 15 years and not very much result .Thank you very much for this podcast ,at list , I know that I am not alone and crazy in this shithole

    The Narcissist is often glorified and further enabled and the victim is shamed, which is the biggest problem with society. Luckily Rachel stood up, most wouldnt and that how they get away.

  • @iouiouiouiouiouiouio

    When a narcissist says, "I'm sorry if something I might have said or did hurt you," that is not an apology.

  • @s22centuaryfox
    @s22centuaryfox Před dnem

    Even if Rachel took meals from her doesnt mean that she couldn't have got conned later, its part of the love bombing, she was trying to help a friend with her card, its very complex. Her telling her story and making money is good so there is awareness that there is people that can do this and their intentions and how they lure your in and get your to trust them, she is doing the opposite of conning, that should be rewarded. Of course the narc wont just say give me $62000 upfront, they will put you in akward position where you feel you dont have much choice, the point is they have no intention to pay it back and took it deceitfully, under false pretence. Rachel told her side and went to law enforcement as she had no other choice! Thats not turning on someoene, if someone done something terrible to you, you will have to turn on them, its you vs them, we all have bills to pay not just the con-person. Too many people are enablers, thats how Annas are born. Good on Rachel, she is brave and showed you dont need the approval of the narcassist and people pleasing does not work. This is the story that should have been glorified.
