How I Make Impractical Gravity Defying Socks and Leggings for Video Game Cosplays
zhlédnutí 186KPřed 3 měsíci
Video game costume designs are always so out there when it comes to actual garment practicality. I'm looking at you Genshin Impact and Neptunia art directors! But nothing feels quite as awesome as figuring out how to engineer a way to make something from a creative fantasy come to real life. In this video I share the tricks I rely on when it comes to bringing ridiculous socks and leggings/pants...
Make Your Own Leggings! Pattern Drafting and Construction Techniques for Perfect DIY Leggings
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 6 měsíci
Is anyone else super bored with the plethora of plain black leggings? I definitely am! On top of that I find most ready to wear legging patterns aren't really made with fit in mind, they're made to conserve on the amount of material used to make the biggest profit, so a great fit is pretty hard to find if you happened to deviate in any way from the standard straight size measurments the industr...
DIY Cosplay Wig Made From Yarn
zhlédnutí 17KPřed 11 měsíci
For a recent cosplay I decided to try my hand at making a wig, but instead of using synthetic wig fiber I decided to make it out of yarn! Let me tell you it was a journey and a half to get this thing done. I needed a wig that would have extra long and really thick braids and regular wig fibers just wouldn't cut it. Luckily, despite being my usual con tornado I managed to film my entire process ...
Making the Ultimate DIY Dress Form with the Perfect Custom Fit
zhlédnutí 11KPřed rokem
I have been struggling for so long to find a dress form that fits my body and proportions. I've made all sorts of custom ones in the past: duct tape dress forms, cardboard body forms, customizable bootstrap fabric dress forms... you name it, I've probably made it. Most of these never quite really captured my shape exactly enough to allow me to use the dress form to do draping and custom pattern...
Restoring My Thrifted Industrial Sewing Machine

Long time no see! It's been a while since I've shared a new video but with the new year upon us I thought it would be a great time to start sharing my creative adventures again. For this video I'm sharing my work on restoring my Juki DDL 555 industrial sewing machine. I've been wanting an industrial sewing machine for a while and decided to rescue this thrifted machine and give it a new life in...

hi! this video is gonna be so helpful :3 i’m going to try to make a cosplay of N Harmonia, and i’ve never styled a wig before, and i would be scared to spend a lot of money on a nice wig and then mess it up🥲
I will buy the same machine, I will have it this week and I was thinking about doing the same, change for a servo motor and needle positioning... now I'm thinking about painting it too haha I love it, where did you found the pedal? is it expensive? and did you have to change the belt ?
Hi! This is the process I use to make my own wigs although instead of gluing wefts i sewed each individual strand into a wig cap. Your process would save SO much time omg. I was also wondering how you wash these wigs? I usually let it soak in lukewarm water and fabric softener, but it makes untangling them an absolute nightmare. Do you have any suggestions, as well as advice on styling? I'm scared that using hairspray like I do on my bought wigs will ruin them
going to try this on a Hex Maniac wig!
This is the best mannequin video I’ve seen so far. Thank you so much for sharing and God bless you! ♥️🫶🏼🙏🏼
Now I want to make one for the raiden shogun 😭
Omg my brain overloaded with information by like minute 6. This is amazing. I love that armchair pincushion in the back.
Love it
Pretty cool! Please make more videos. 😊
Hi, you are so creative. This is the most accurate looking self made dress form I’ve seen on CZcams so far and I’ve seen a LOT! I don’t know how to use all the software you used to get your pattern but it’s a fantastic idea if you don’t want it 3d printed on hard plastic. To cover the rough parts, have you heard or used Fosshape? It’s a fabric that seems to be pretty forgiving, you sew it up a bit like you did to make your velvet cover (beautiful by the way) and then use steam or a heat gun to shrink it around the dress form. It hardens up but is completely pinable. It might be a good way to smooth out the bumps, Congrats again on a great outcome
Ooo yup I've heard of fosshape, it's awesome. I was on a really tight budget for this thing so just opted to go with cheap materials and what I had on hand but fosshape would definitely be useful.
That was a professional idea to make a good dress form
Wow I loved it...
Oh that’s such a cool garment, and love the concept of reusing the high end scraps
Thanks so much! I wish more places made their scraps available or donated to places like the FHM. It would be such a great use of material that would otherwise just go in the trash.
What fun. I love the V yoke on the front
Thank you! Ya I was hoping that it would be a bit more prominent but forgot that textured material will usually hide seam lines lol.
Oh gosh the struggles of being a tall woman looking for long wig solutions! I'm gonna have to try this -- awesome video!
Haha right? I just want long poofy braids damn it!
I think I plan on using this method to make a wig for my mom's old baby doll.
I’m somewhat confused. Waist line is parallel to the ground, and one leg of the carpenter’s square is parallel to the ground, so you’re essentially measuring two opposite sides of a rectangle. How would the front rise be different than the back rise?
Yup that's true, the difference is basically if you end up lowering the level of the parallel leg of the square lower up in the back because you want the leggings to sit up lower up in your bum if that makes sense? From a mathematical standpoint you're totally right though :3 The trick here is trying to figure out how to accommodate a little extra space for your bum if you're a bit more curvy. Some folks will have the measurements be the same, some will have a bit more because the bum.sits a bit lower than the front pelvis if that makes sense.
They look so good! That Scabal fabric looks wonderful, and did I see that there's 2.8m of it? Thanks for putting out this video; I'm thinking of doing next year's and it's nice to see the variety of fabrics you got.
I'm not actually sure if the tags are correct because it's only half the standard yardage width but I do have two pieces that are fairly large remnants. I'm really hoping there's enough for a pleated skirt because I really have my heart set on making a skirt out of it. And ya the variety was interesting. I think the breakdown was roughly 40% worsted crepes of varying weights and colours and then 40% suiting of varying weights and blends and then 20% miscellaneous bits but most of those seemed natural materials too.
I love this idea 😍
Amazing! Subbed:)
My first thought was it's just double-sided tape that does the trick) It's used in some sports to keep clothes from falling
i think i would use scotch tape
TBH when I clicked this I was not expecting the answer to be "just make invisible leggings and attach everything to that", but yeah honestly that makes sense...
i know nothing about cosplay i know nothing about seweing stuff [ i dont even know if spell it correctly] but i know if i had to do that kind of socks i would just glue it to the leg could use those glue for kids to play that are easy to wash.... or double sided tape could even paint the tape on the color of your costume nobody would see and as you dont need to keep removing it to pee or something it will work fine
Not sure if this trick is usable at all but if your fabric can get loose threads, then can you get a special plastic glue (do not know the name) and glue the edge, then after it is dry, heat the edge with a soldering iron, this will end up invisible but lock the threads on the edge and prevent it from ever getting loose, and it is invisible, instead of having to sew.
not a cosplayer or craftsperson but this was a very cool and informative video!
awesome content but i have never hear decal pronounced the way you do only ever heard ˈdēˌkal, (Dee-cal) before never deck-al, and now I'm falling down a rabbit whole of a hole debate / argument about this, what have you done :D
Omg nuuuuuu, that rabbit hole runs deep and is full of so many strongly opinionated people lol. I'm Canadian so we have a few words that are pronounced differently from American and British English. Decal is one of them 😅
Heros don't wear capes.
👓
I cant...Deckal..i cant...
will i ever use this info... no was it interesting though... yes
mesmerizing watch. love it.
Do you have a preferred supplier for the illusion mesh? I'm trying to find some and all I can really find is low stretch tulle mesh in skin colors. I need a more stretchy one like what you have in the vid. Trying to make a Odogaron armor cosplay (Monster Hunter World, female variant) and it has some pretty large cutouts.
I get mine from Len's Mills here in Ontario but if you check out Bra Maker Supply (www.braandcorsetsupplies.com/product-category/fabrics/bra-band-fabrics/) they also carry a great selection of power net and both mesh and super fine mesh plus they ship worldwide. The super fine mesh is the illusion mesh but the regular fine mesh also works great and provides a little more coverage and has a wider range of colours.
cool stuff
Aaa, I'm very glad I found this. The other video I watched was very overwhelming and his wig still looked like yarn (I'm sure he's great and it looked good for him, just doesn't really for what I'm going for), and this looks amazing ^^
Easy solution, Double Sided tape XD
Aperture science long fall boots come to mind.
its called sock glue
Where did you buy that eva foam roll? I've been looking to get some
I got it from a local chain of stores in Ontario called Len's Mills.
Most of us watching this can't do this because it takes actual skill. I'm a dewd and will never use this information however I've always been a HUGE fan of physics and engineering so seeing cosplay problems solved with ingenuity tickles that part of my brain 🧠😅
...man I never even thought about that
Are the first pair for Purple Heart? :o They both look amazing!
They're actually both for Purple Heart. The first pair is from the Hyperdimension game and the second pair is from the Neptunia x Senran cross over game 💜
Waw mantap
Your glasses tell me that, when someone asks for Superhero costumes in your studio, you yell: "no capes!"
Yes! Omg honestly this comment makes me so happy. Edna Mode always reminds me of the late Iris Apfel and she is my fashion icon and who I aspire to be when it comes to fashion, style, and just general outlook on life.
Super glue
Hehe, I had to chuckle a little bit at the point where she is attempting to convince herself that this will help to prevent her from having the need to buy more Washi Tape.
I swear to god, the algorithm is creepy. Today I was thinking to myself "I should learn how to sew costumes" and this video gets recommended. I've never spoken to anyone about it. I've never watched anything cosplay-related in my life. I am genuinely scared. Great video tough!
Ooo that is spooky indeed! I'm glad I was your first stop on your costuming journey though! Looking forward to seeing what you make.
@@Atheeni My first idea is a sort of "robe" for a wizard. I want to start with something easy-ish so I can have a feeling of success, then go on to make more elaborate ideas. A big hat would be really nice, but I'm not sure how difficult that's going to be. Mind you, I'm an IT guy, I have zero craftsmanship experience. So I need to start at the basics. But thank you very much for your encouraging words!
I have been seeking information relevant to this for years! thank you so much for publishing this video it will be incredibly useful!
Glad to help! It's always so tough to find niche info online these days so I'm glad I was able to help you.
This is really cool! I have been getting into sewing recently (mostly for mending things), and I really like to wear thigh-highs just out and about but it bothers me a lot that over the day they slump down my legs. I wonder if I could do something like this to turn my thigh-highs into leggings, with the top part being like short-shorts made out of illusion or powernet fabric...
That's awesome! I started in a similar way, mending is a great gateway to sewing your own stuff. And you can absolutely do that, especially if you want a little shaping too, power net is great for that kind of stuff.
what's a deckle?
Canadian pronunciation of decal.
@@b.lightyear3455 wait is that an actual thing? Possibly the strangest canadian regional proninciation ive ever heard.
How long it takes from start to finish ??
clicked cause i can spot neptunia from a mile away 0w0 (is my favorite jrpg series)
Yesssss! Nep is a big fave of mine too 💜
@Atheeni I mean I'll give you one guess which character I obsessed over with my name as 'Yuni'
