WHY DO I COLLECT MOVIES? CHANNEL UPDATE!
I don't think you're supposed to just collect every Criterion film, i agree that it should reflect each individuals taste .
@@spoonermum I’m glad you agree! Of course it looks beautiful on the shelf but I rather sell it to someone who will enjoy the film more than myself and I can use that money to put towards another. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video and collection! Thanks for sharing. Hope you are enjoying the current sale.
@@20thand21stMovies thank you
Carnival of souls and Eyes without a face are two of my all time favorite older horror movies! You gotta watch Seconds, it’s a crazy sci fi movie with an amazing twist, also Lost Highway and Cure are a must! The one I would recommend you pick up on this sale is Bound, if you weren’t planning on it already, great collection man
@@MovieMadness676 bound is on the list for sure! Seconds I’m interested in diving in without reading anything on it, I’ve heard it great.
Incredible collection
@@chrissoto6331 thank you my friend.
Pale Flower is fantastic slow burn movie. Visually rich B&W, bare bones soundtrack, Japanese gambling game that I don’t understand. It’s a gem. I absolutely adore it but fair warning, the few people I’ve recommended to don’t like it cuz it’s “too boring” 😑
@@Blammo94 nothing wrong with a slow born but I need to check it out for sure! So many titles, it becomes so hard to get to everything
Not finished watching yet but I’ll be watching in pieces. This might’ve inspired me to finally make one of my own 🤔
A true Criterion enthusiast. Thanks for giving your time to make a video of this length.
@@hardcopyblus Thanks vin, and thanks for all the recommendations lol.
Mulholland Drive is my favourite film. Don’t own a ton of these yet but working on it. These are the others I own or will own soon: Blue Velvet Twin Peaks Y Tu Mama Tambien Videodrome Naked Lunch Cure Fantastic Planet Seven Samurai Ghost World Memories of Murder Miller’s Crossing Funny Games The Piano Teacher Blood Simple Bound Paris, Texas Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down Hausu Trainspotting Lady Snowblood Secret Sunshine
@@hvitekristesdod that’s a great collection so far! Bound and funny games are on my list to grab. I love Videodrome
@@cinema.inspired Awesome! Cronenberg isn’t my fave overall but Videodrome and Naked Lunch are really great
Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down was a bit of a blind buy recently, but the director Almodovar is excellent, I also recommend his films The Bad Education and The Skin I Live In
@@hvitekristesdod Videodrome and the fly are my personal favourites from him. Videodrome is a 4k I’m grabbing this sale. I just sold my Bluray copy.
@@hvitekristesdod I’ll check tie me up first.
The Funeral is Juzo Itami the same director as Tampopo. Decent film. The Trial is a trip. People don't like the ending for Midnight Cowboy?! It's perfect!
@@Holland_Oates I’ve heard some people complain about the ending but I agree, thought it was the best way to end it really.
Nice video
Thanks
Did you really watch The Return of the King (the third movie) first? or was that just an error?
@@ReVision.. thanks for pointing that out! I watched fellowship of the ring. I may have just put it in the box set incorrectly.
Those LOTR DVD sets are great. I had them back in the day but sold them 😢
@@hardcopyblus they are beautiful! They are cheap used tho, they were about $10 each but I paid $35 for my set with credit
Great haul! Love Lies Bleeding is my favorite movie of the year so far, so really cool to see that you got that. Definitely show it to your wife! Also, just wanted to say, in a previous video you said you doubted that any women watch your channel, but that's not true. We're out here!
@@r1133 I will be showing her for sure but she’s not too big of a a24 fan after men lol. Oh lol well thank you!
Awesome little haul
@@chrissoto6331 yes sir! Thank you.
Nice haul 😁
@@kylehartman2627 thanks buddy.
Monkey Man and In a Violent Nature are my favorites of the year so far. Have fun smuggling Criterions out of the country.
@@Holland_Oates monkey man was a blast for sure. lol thanks Holland.
Damn that Pan's Labyrinth steelbook is beautiful, and that Ratatouille segment def cost you with the wife.😬😬
The Pans one is incredible, matches the film perfectly and yah maybe I slept on the couch lol
czcams.com/video/3w19SAl1OBQ/video.html
Yes
Eternal Sunshine is an excellent film, definitely watch it 😎
Will do!
@@cinema.inspired Awesome. My fave Charie Kaufman is still Synecdoche New York though 😁
My fav steelbook is Fury. I believe it was the Target release. Nothing has topped it for me just yet.
I’ll have to search that one but I think I know which one it is.
the evil dead and lion king are the two best looking ones.
Yeah those are fantastic and both great movies too. Thanks for checking out the video!
Nice stuff. Really dig that Pans Lab and Eternal Sunshine. 😍
Yeah both are incredible! I really gotta check out the movie itself though for sunshine
I like the coco steelbook
Yah it’s really nice!
Nice steelbook haul
Do you really saws all this movies at the month maybe?? Or just have like storage one jajaja
ahah this month was a big one. I didn’t watch all of these pickups. I have 925 movies in my collection. I have watched and reviewed on letterboxd 72% of them so slowly I will continue
I love the Archive collection, a couple of suggestions that I have for you are The Hidden (1987), Papillon, The World According to Garp and The Man With Two Brains 👍
Thanks! Ive heard of the hidden but never of the other films. I appreciate the suggestions!
They loved turning classics into pure horror movies in the 2000s. House of Wax, The Collector, The Crazies to name a few. Cape Fear I want the ending of the original in the remake. All of these are pretty close except Carrie remake which I haven't seen, but also can't see that being a 5 star movie.
No need to see the Carrie remake really lol
Great idea for a video man! Still need to watch the original house of wax and cape fear. Remake of The Blob is elite, remake of 3:10 wins for me as well 😅
Phew, you chose the right 3:10 to Yuma haha….The comment about Django is incorrect as not remakes, just using the name Django (Django, Sukiyaki Western Django and Django Unchained)
3:10 original is my favourite western and in my top 5 all time! Yeah I think ur correct there. He mentioned them as remakes but I think it’s just sharing the name as u said.
Django is a def must comparison since there are many there is the Tarintino 2012(Unchained) the Japanese 2007 and the 1966 original thats is the very few odd times you have more then 2 movies of the same story trying to feel diffrent yet all in the same storyline bases
I had no idea the 2012 version was a remake. I gotta search those up.
@@cinema.inspired Ya its based on the 2007 Japanese version since Tarantion worked on it along side the director Takashi Mike which then that version is remake of the original 1966 version
@@RETROMANIAToronto I’m trying to find the titles. Do you know the names of the 2007 version and also the 66 version
@@cinema.inspired The 1966 version is just Django and the 2007 is Sukiyaki Western Django
you should do Suspiria
Thanks for the suggestion! It’s actually on my list for another episode but I still need to fully watch it, the remake is a long one but I enjoy the original a lot.
Nice video
I like this video great idea!!
Take it man! You have way more movies than I do and you’d have a bunch of these to do, I’d like to see you do it!
Man, oh man do I love WAC! They have such a deep and rich catalog and their restorations are always top knotch. Their releases don't typically go on sale very often so you may as well just pre-order them when they're new or ante up if it's an older release. One of my favorite labels ever.
They are a bit tough to find here in Canada. Sometimes I can find a decent price but they usually go for $30 and up.
@@cinema.inspired Sheesh. For a single disc, standard edition title that's a steep price. However, not many of their titles are available from other labels so we're kind of at they're mercy. My wish list of their releases is pretty long...
@@jbwuzhere6819 lol yah it’s expensive. They have great titles though and as you said, fantastic restorations.
The Devil's Double was good. I recommend it. P.S. - Are you in Hamilton?
I’m from that area and go to Hamilton pretty often!
@@cinema.inspired Nice. I'm a bit to the east. I'll definitely check out those stores when I visit that side. Your collection looks awesome btw.
@@alienking8043 thanks appreciate it. You have any good stores near you for movies or pokemon cards??
@@cinema.inspired Yes. One called Deja Vu Discs, for used. Sunrise Records and Now And Then are both record stores but they sell new movies.
@@cinema.inspired That's weird. I replied but YT deleted my comment. But yes, there are stores for movies. I dont know about Pokemon cards though. For used movies, Deja Vu Discs. Sunrise Records and Now and Then are both record stores but sell new movies.
Great collection
Fantastic Warner Archive collection! I really enjoyed Angels With Dirty Faces. I have Gaslight, but I haven’t seen it yet. Gun Crazy is so good! I wanted to love Hudsucker, but I thought it was just ok. I need to give it a rewatch. I’m a huge fan of Wait Until Dark, what a great film! Thanks for sharing your collection.
Thanks man! Hudsucker I actually saw you picked up not long ago, ur right, it’s okay. Wait until dark is fantastic and probably my favourite in this collection. I think you would enjoy what’s up doc as well!
You’ve got some good titles there and yes, What’s Up Doc is a blast, a fun tribute to the screwball comedy. If you’re unfamiliar with Ryan O’Neal then it’s worth checking out Paper Moon which he also did with Peter Bogdanovich….I believe with that edition of Gaslight you also get the 1940 British version starring Anton Walbrook, which the studio originally wanted all prints destroyed. I watched it the other week and prefer it, Walbrook is great in it.
Paper moon has been on my watchlist for a while! Can’t find a copy though. Gaslight was okay, I’d be interested in checking out that 1940 version! Thanks for watching Neil. I had hoped this video would reach you aha.
Hudsucker I agree it's definitely towards the bottom of Coen. Still not a bad movie. I'm not sure if it's just me, but since Sam Raimi also worked on it I can see Spiderman in the movie with the newspaper room.
It’s still pretty decent but yah lower tier and I’d have to watch it again to see if I pick up on that. Definitely didn’t the first time. Thanks for watching!
Nice buddy
Thanks Kyle.
Where can I buy Arrow Video movies? Thanks!
You can buy them everywhere really. Amazon or any of your local movie stores should carry them. Always check eBay also if you’re looking for a good deal. Thanks for watching!
Those are some sick steels!
The way the web shoots on that lenticular is awesome!
Yah man I was pretty hyped to see that lol
Love the first 2. Still need to see spiderman 3 for the Bully McGuire meme. 😂
lol the third isn’t bad but the problem is that 1 and 2 are elite status. Thanks for watching man!
Awesome
Thanks Chris!
Get the Shinya Tsukamoto collection Solid Metal Nightmares. Watch his film Kotoko. You will thank me 😀
lol I’ve seen that boxset. I think it’s out of print now?
Only got a few so far, waiting for the next sale My collection: Cure Y Tu Mama Tambien Videodrome Naked Lunch Memories of Murder Hausu The Piano Teacher Funny Games Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Paris, Texas Fantastic Planet Mulholland Drive is my favourite film, enjoy 😀 Blue Velvet is also in my top 5 all time.
That’s a great start man. Videodrome is my second favourite Cronenberg film. I still need funny games actually.
@@cinema.inspired What’s your fave Cronenberg? I think mine is Naked Lunch. Funny Games 1997 is excellent. Very subversive. Invites audience participation 😆
@@hvitekristesdod the fly. Just too good. Naked Lunch is very interesting lol. I have the arrow boxset, which I just did an arrow video collection actually!
@@cinema.inspired Ah cool! I should look into that! I’m currently deep into the Shinya Tsukamoto box set from Arrow 😄 The Fly is excellent but something about how Naked Lunch takes the book and the life of Burroughs and mixes it all up into something so baffling but so enthralling… I think it’s the most cohesive Cronenberg film
Nice pickups ups
Thanks Kyle.
Just subscribed, your collection looks awesome! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the sub and taking time to leave a comment, it’s much appreciated! I started uploading Wednesdays and Saturdays so hopefully I have content you’ll enjoy watching.
@@cinema.inspired can’t wait for more my friend, cheers! Enjoy your weekend. That High Noon is high on my list, gotta grab that one soon!
@@aidanhunt5702 it’s a great movie if you’re a western fan!
@@cinema.inspiredhell yeah. Peeping Tom is a favourite of mine as well
@@aidanhunt5702 that’s gonna be a first time watch!
Where are these from? Germany?
I think they are from Germany, could be Europe in general. Both discs are region free though.
