    The Vanishing is so good. Love the soundtrack of that movie. You will enjoy it.

      It’s not one I hear too many people talk about but looks great. Maybe because it’s foreign?? I’m excited to check it out

    Definitely adding Written On The Wind to my list. Love me some Rock Hudson. Great pickups!

      Douglas Sirk is such a fantastic director. I would really recommend his other film in the collection, All that Heaven Allows

    I really liked The Vanishing. I watched The Servant recently, it was pretty good. I think I wanna snag Inland Empire during the sale. Glad you were able to make the trip and get some titles.

      Vanishing sounds really good! The servant looks interesting, for $20 can’t say no. Lynch is a blind spot for me. I have all his criterion films but only seen a handful of them. You gotta be in a mood lol.

    Sweet haul man. I got a few of those as well. I love the art and spine on After Hours.

      Yeah after hours art is awesome. I find that criterion 95% of the time always has great artwork. Forget about triangle of sadness though lol.

    Can't go wrong with Jean Arthur. And James Stewart was an Air Force veteran, having piloted bombers over Germany during WW II.

    Awesome haul! I definitely enjoyed In a Lonely Place. The movie's focus seems to be one thing at the beginning and then it becomes much more introspective, which is something I'm really into.
    Devil in a Blue Dress is also a great film. The movie is based on the first in a series of detective novels and it's a shame Denzel Washington only portrayed that character once because he's so good in the role.
    They didn't have After Hours on the shelves the last time I went, but I'm hoping they'll have them for my last visit. Just planning one haul video this month because I'm trying not to spend much after my massive VinSyn haul! 😅
    Take care, Alex!

      I was watching ur VS haul, must be expensive lol.

      @make_it_good Před rokem

      It wasn't cheap. I definitely saved up for that sale ahead of time. I went out of town shortly after and didn't expect to buy anything, but came across deals I don't see back home and I broke. 😅
      This month is definitely going to be more restrained than past months, but I've gotten some decent flicks to share at the end of it all. 😁 The Vanishing is one I've wanted for a while, but haven't seen it at my local B&N for over a year.

    If you're feeling a bit flat after watching the brilliant original of The Vanishing (it packs quite a punch) there is an easy pick-me-up. Just get a copy of the Hollywood remake and watch the last twenty minutes or so. You will laugh and laugh and laugh.

    When you watch Inland Empire, you’ll see why they didn’t do 4K. It’s shot on somewhat lo-res looking video so 4K wouldn’t improve it. There was a theatrical screening where it was artificially up-resed but I can’t imagine that looking very good either. Probably best to see it as originally filmed. The videography is so ugly and amateur in parts that I assume it was intentional.

    • @cinema.inspired
      @cinema.inspired  Před rokem +1

      You are completely right! I remember hearing about that. The way it’s shot, just no need for 4K. Lynch is such an interesting director, I hope I enjoy it. I have all his films but haven’t seen many of them.

    • @garyrichardson475
      @garyrichardson475 Před rokem

      @@cinema.inspired Inland Empire is probably best after you have acquired a taste for Lynch's weirder stuff. Something like Blue Velvet is very Lynchian but is still accessible for people not into his kind of stuff. Others like Mulholland Drive (my favorite) leave a lot to interpretation. Inland Empire is so cryptic that I doubt anyone truly deciphered it. I think maybe it's not meant to be followed. It's more about what you feel than following a story. I had to overcome my frustration of not knowing what it was about and just go with it. I would say "enjoy" but it's kind of disturbing and depressing. 🤣
