TrackIR is not the same as VR. You don't wear googles. Think of it as your head movements control the C-key which lets you look around the cockpit. It works by having a infrared camera on your monitor, like a webcam. On your headset you wear an item with a reflective surface. The camera then recognises how your head is positioned. And instead of having to hold down a button you can just turn your head a bit to look around.

I use different controls for many planes as they behave quite different. Some have bad roll rates, some have too high roll rates so I turn those sensitivity setting up and down to match what I think works best. Same with pitch. To summarize: You can use the same keybinds for all planes, just change roll and pitch sensitivity to your preference.

Thanks man. I'd say give it some more time. Maybe find a plane you do well in and master it. Then you'll enjoy your practise more :) that's how I learnt. A stick extender will in theory give you better control over fine adjustments in your aim. But you have to have the setup for it. Anyway, nice to hear that you enjoy my stuff:)

Yeah, you are right. That should have helped a lot. However, at this point, I had not yet set up any MEC for the Bf109. What I know of MEC is not required to be competitive in War thunder, but I might be wrong!

I have a video on the Bf 109 F2 if you haven't seen it yet. But I do like the Bf 109 E3 even more than the F2 as it is fighting on a lower BR. And I think it looks cooler aswell :)

I have tried it out a bit. It is great fun. However, a lot more people play in squads there, so if you just wanna do a quick game alone it's hard to go in solo and expect to survive :)

Happy you enjoyed it! A word of advice on the P-47. Climb high and boom & zoom. Never turnfight even if your tempted. Also you are probably the fastest plane in the match so you can always run away 😉 Good luck! And try out the ground belts!

Yeah the italian is almost at a too low BR:) I have to take out the G56 some more. I enjoy the C.205 so I probably enjoy the G56 as well. I have been shot down by pilots in the G56/G55 plenty of times.

@@involuntarycommander8804 the g55 isn't as good because if you dont get a 4.7 3.7 game you have to deal with lf mk 9 spits getting spammed out but its still decent

I played some IL-2: Forgotten Battles but that was probably 20 years ago and I doubt that I learned anything from it. But I have been playing war thunder for some time and it's in War thunder I learned to "fly" :)

@@involuntarycommander8804 That's awesome. Do you find it useful to practice in custom battles or use test flight mode? Do you practice maneuvers much or do you simply try to stay high and conserve energy until you can safely dump the energy to get good shots off? You are really skilled!

Thanks man! I fly a lot in test flight, but I never tried custom battles. In test flight I kind of get to know the limits of the plane. I test when the plane wings rip and how I should trim it. Also how it turns and climbs. But best practise is for sure to do actual battles with a good feeling of how the plane should be used against different opponents. :)

@@involuntarycommander8804 When you were getting into using fighters, did you find flight stick (assuming you use one) easier, or Mouse and keyboard?

@imenvelope I never flew sim with m&k so I can't say. I would think m&k is easier to start with but flight stick doesn't take many hours to get used to.

A pretty big difference is that you are locked in cockpit view. And there are different game modes such as enduring confrontation which is a game continuing for up to 3 hours I belive.

I'd like to cover the Ta 152 H-1 eventually, so yes, there is a big chance I'll make a video about it :) I just don't know when, hopefully soon! I haven't flown it as extensively as many of the other more common fighters. So I can't give you any quick tips now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it turn pretty well at certain speeds? I'll have to take it out tonight to try :)

It sits in BR 3.7 where it is pretty strong in terms of speed. If you fly it right you can choose every encounter. In my opinion ;)

Is it 3.7 in sim? Pretty sure that p-47 is like 5.0 in RB and gets torn to shreds

@make1up726 I looked it up. This one is in BR 4.3 in sim. It goes up against bf 109 F which it outspeeds. I never play RB really so I have no idea how it is there.

I usually play RB, it's higher there and you get run down by so many things it really doesn't have an advantage now in that mode. Also try the ground belts on the .50s they seem to do more reliable damage even though they don't start fires as easy.

I have some experience of IL-2. I would say there are some differences for sure but quite similar overall. I'm guessing you're saying il-2 planes are easier to control? War thunder requires a lot more trim from my experience. If you have any interest in War thunder simulator battles maybe try fiddling around with the trim settings of the planes you want to fly. And also the sensitivity. Good luck to you!

@@involuntarycommander8804 the yak series in il2 flies extremely stable and smooth. While the one in war thunder requires a lot of trimming and the torque is so strong. In il2 I definitely feel the air resistance hitting my control surfaces. While in war thunder it takes so much effort to simply fly in a stable manner.

I agree. But I would argue that the Yak series is a pretty stable plane in WT if you compare it to the spitfires in WT which can be very hard to control until you find the right settings. So you definitely have to muck about more in the settings in WT. In IL-2 I've barely have had to do that.

@@involuntarycommander8804 I don’t understand how a pure flight simulator have easier planes to control compared to war thunder. It just doesn’t make sense. I’m also able to fly in dcs with any trouble, while I am struggling hard with war thunder’s flight model.

@wongarnold2879 I guess it is due to all of the planes they have cramed into the game. You kinda have to have specific settings for every plane you fly. That is my tip. I wish you good luck man. :)

@2Dark03 sim for ground vehicles. You can also choose to fly as a plane and bomb enemy tanks. Its pretty fun 🙂

Mainly that you can only use cockpit view. Also the mouse and keyboard aiming works different.

If you want to fly with stick, then sim is the way. You can bind the hat switch to help you look around if you haven't got a head tracker or VR. If you want to get into sim, you have to be patient. With time and practise, you will improve.

I dont have any experience with WT on console. I guess jets and stuffares difficult to set up. But ww2 planes should require only a few basic things. Flying, guns, a way to look around and maybe trim. There is probably some video guides for it! :) good luck

@involuntarycommander8804 yea jets might be a pain but if i take a few mins and fuck with the controls i could set it up my friend already plays sim battles on console. But man i hate having to set up an entire controller scheme with their confusing menus lol
