New engine, many new parts and a new lead of life was given to this rare car.
Still a few jobs to do, but the hardest and most important bits are now done.

Quick video where I did a compression test to have an idea of the condition of the cylinders. As I was 14 that summer, those were "the" cars which burned to brain as classic beautiful ones.
Same with me. also, as a child these looked big and now feel so much smaller!
You had the engine firing on number 4 cylinder and you should have adjusted that at 007”, not number 1 cylinder. Cylinder 4 Rockers are on the back of the cam lobe which is the correct position. Number 1 cylinder is rocking on the cam lobes so there should be no clearance. The gap will be far too big and they will be very loud. I worked on these engines for years and did hundreds of valve clearances.

Well done. My e28 M5 is stuck in it's garage because I don't trust supposed experts around it! I must have wasted nearly 30k having things redone.

You can be very proud of this process and the results, Gentil! 💪🏼😃 Although the car is not quite original, in this case I think it even enhances the bond you have with it. Really great and never sell it indeed! For not too much money, I think you can have mixed up a couple of cans of paint in the exact colour and have a go at correcting some spots by yourself. Since it's not metallic I think the results will be pretty good 👍 And for the chrome trim in the interior, I would suggest buying a roll of self adhesive chrome foil, you can do a lot with 1 roll and it will probably look better than paint. Anyway, I'm looking forward to more video's on this car, also driving video's if possible 😃

I had a 2001 ford focus 1.4 petrol it was battered and looked like a shopping trolley but it never let me down I replaced it 2 months ago with a 59 plate of this exact model loving it so far I think I'll always own a focus

Still a very vood looking car which looks quite contemporary. They're capable, spacious and just do what's asked of them. The options available are good too.

Hi, another way to check if your connecting the right wires to the new connector is that on the old connector you’ll notice the wires are labeled 1 and 2 on the connector itself and on the new connector it is the same so when attaching make sure the two wires match the same wire number.

Bought mine , 1.4 manual new 17 years ago. 175k km done. Just had the timing belt replaced . Yes that bonnet lock is a real pain. Replaced it twice , could not open the bonnet once that fails. Had to bring it to the shop. Decided to do without the lock and now open it with a long screw driver. The lock is a complete failure on Ford. Should be a product recall. Other than that , shocks and clutch replaced.

@@hairynews8348 Mines a zetec hatchback, the only real issues ive had were the crankshaft sensor and the bonnet lock broke.
@luisluis5306 Yep, brought her just under 40,000 miles in 2014 now has 131,000 Apart from the usual wheel bearings, front suspension arms, bonnet lock, just changed the shocks, and normal service items, never let me down. I did, earlier this year have the rear areas of the sills redone, professionally, ok cost £600 for both sides, but I'm planning to try and reach that 200,000 mile barrier!
I'd always liked the UK Ford Focus hatchback model than the US version.
It's strange why they didn't offer it in the US

I removed it and sold it to help funding the BMW E12 project. It would not fit the new car, but it already has Bluetooth so that's good enough for me

@@Donari yes, I was happy with it and it was very useful. I would get a proper brand one, not those cheap Android units. X-trona seemed good, but I would rather use Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, etc
