Superman 2 is still a great movie and a movie others like Spider-man 2 borrowed from. This is a movie that was extremely well received on release. Critics loved it and some said it exceeded the original. Only with the passage of time and truckloads of comic book movie releases have people crapped on it.. The Donner Cut I have always said is some nice footage but it can't outdo the theatrical cut of this movie..

With the show slowly gaining more of a following there have been more video essays about it but I feel this is one of the few that get it. A lot of hay is made about how the "impossible" the ecology is when it is really not. At most a lot of stuff is implausible but in the way a lot of life on earth is implausible. Its earth through a fun house mirror and once you get that you will get a lot about what it has to say about our own world.

I was lucky enough to grow up in the 70’s. There were such a huge number of great musical artists during that decade, that I think some of us took it for granted. We probably thought this music might last forever. It didn’t. Most good things don’t. But as I’ve gotten older, my appreciation for the music has grown deeper. Hands down my favorite Steely Dan song is Deacon Blues. I’m not a musician but the blending of the instruments is just amazing to my ears. There are certain songs I can listen to and put on repeat numerous times. I could easily listen to Deacon Blues for an hour straight or longer. I used to play the Aja album on cassette in my car going to and from work in Seattle for months on end. It would pass the time and make the traffic more manageable. Not one bad song. You can’t say that about many albums. Fagan & Becker were musical perfectionists from what I heard, and it was definitely reflected in their music. My wife and I just recently saw Steely Dan with Donald Fagan open for the Eagles in Phoenix earlier this year. It was like two concerts for the price of one.

Actually, the CNC idea is no guarantee of any benefit... In Mexico there is something similar called IMCINE and throughout the years it has been used to fund vanity projects for people related to politicians and has overall made Mexican movies a pain to watch... So, beware of government operated entities, they have the potential to be a force of good or a total disaster . I'd say that CNC is more the exception than the rule.

I think the vase is merely a symbol of Noriko's life as it is. One that will inevitably change. It is quiet and contemplative - and it is a nice symbol that reflects many people's real life experience - who has not laid in bed in a darkening room and gazed at an object with a distinctive shape, still recognizable in the dimming light but half in shadow, as we drifted off to sleep with our thoughts? To awaken in the morning to a new day and maybe a new life. This is Noriko at this moment.

France that is just a horrible country talking about movies. Lots of foreign language blu-rays and stuff have undefeatable subtitles. There even is a french company that advertises with ''subtitles can be turned off(!)(ESC edition)''. Looks like content and stuff is very expensive in France. So it is all about money. It is kind of funny looking at Cannes Film Festival with french being movie art rapists..having that white letter stuff at the bottom of the screen which you cannot remove that is mutilate movie content. There are also plenty deals made in Cannes where folks who buy movies with undefeatable subtitles get a price reduction. And no it is never mentioned on the cover of such film so it is criminal also. Yes i like Amelie but f*uck France and f*uck the movie industry.

Realistically, the CNC is based on good intentions, and even finances some worthwhile projects, to be sure, but it is plagued with the same sort of corruption that results from total lack of unbiased oversight guiding its decision-making process. What French filmmakers know is that industry insiders use it like a cash machine open to their friends but "friends" (or "film families") are the operative concepts of this transaction. People sitting on the board lookout for their own (professionals get to finance the projects of their friends and shoot down those of their enemies) in ways that are willfully opaque in the utmost. Unsurprisingly, there is a micro-society of producers and filmmakers who live entirely from development money they raise without having to really deliver anything. The CNC only grants money to production companies who oversee its spending, AKA most of it circulates in the producer's pockets. Similarly, people who are not "inside" or who have no friends or name recognition "inside" rarely see their projects funded: it's only ever down to the credibility of the producer involved. It should come as no surprise that corruption finds its way into most systems and France is no exception. This idea that budding filmmakers all happily benefit from this fairy tale handout is pure fantasy, sadly. But I can see why it would look so promising to a Pollyanna American who stands on the outside looking in... Ultimately, France has generated as nepotistic a film industry as the US... It's configured differently but amounts to the same, and because many French filmmakers are not particularly accountable to making a profit, their technique doesn't even have to be all that polished, which leads to a sort of parochial filmmaking that is relatively hard to sell outside of that small cultural bourgeois circle who has perfected the art of keeping it in the family and suck on the teat of public money which is really for an unspoken elite... There's no perfect system: the US system sucks, but without strict oversight aimed at a fair selection process, the French system is deeply problematic too.

Something of the abstract when we talk about lovers being in love through the mind rather than through rosy lips and cheeks, eyes and hands, breast and nape.

There was this one popular skit (I don't remember whether it was a local German one or something from America), where they show a literal translator in a conversation between the mob and some guy. And literal translator was just what it says. If A says: "I (A) want something", the translator would say "I want something" but B would understand it as "I (T) want something" and then ask the translator why he would want that in this situation. This went on for a couple minutes and was pretty funny.

  • @alexandrecorelli7179

Hi ! Thank you for the video Although the CNC starts from a good idea, the result is a multiplication of dumb films nobody sees, leaving the screen 3 days after their launching, starring arrogant actors who give the taxpayer lessons of life in Cannes or at the Cesars ! I think most french people are done with this.
