I am one of the biggest fanboys of Toyota. I had a Tundra and now have a 2022 4 Runner which I will never get rid of. I understand Toyota faces stupid government pressures to improve average MPG. They have been smart pushing Hybrids instead of ridiculous EVs like the idiots at Ford and GM now going broke. However Toyota's elimination of gas aspirating 8 cylinders to 6 hybrids on Tundras and reducing 6 to 4 hybrid on Tacomas and 4 Runners are huge mistakes without offering the traditional larger gas aspirating engines. I don't care about saving a few miles per gallon knowing the tried and true traditional 8 and 6 cylinder vehicles will save me thousands not having to replace them versus hyrids which no way will outlast the traditional engines.

my '24 TRD PRO 4Runner was the same price and looks wayzzzzzzz better than that thing. (not to mention will last longer, hold its value better, has a sunroof and softex/power seats lol.

It’s not just the Tacoma they did the same thing to the Highlander . We bought a new one in 2022 and I didn’t know it was the last year of the V6 and they went to the same set up that’s in the Tacoma . It will be my last Highlander and I hope it lasts me a long time .

Unfortunately I think a lot of people who say they had a great dealership experience are the ones that were taken advantage of. Of course they were treated well. They agreed to all the crap that they were talked into. Example: I know a lady that bragged how nice they were to her and they talked her into every add on. But she thought she did well because she got 6 free oil changes 😂😂😂😂

That's what happens when people become passionate about objects that are supposed to serve a function but they turn them into novelties. Toyota has been disrespecting the consumer for years with its backward technology and cheap plastic interiors that begin to rattle in a short time. Thanks to the consumer, who transformed a work object into a luxury object, they want to sell a truck with a giant price and a dwarf engine. But why? because they know that Tacos buyers never bring more than a kids school bag and gallon of milk to the bed.

I can't imagine how they ever thought $50k+ Tacomas were going to sell in volume. Most people do not have that kind of money to spend on a car and if they do they're probably not shopping Tacoma.

I don't get who is buying these things when house prices have spiked, cost of living spiked and vehicles aren't cheap and neither is the insurance for it due to theft on some brands, Toyota being one of them.

UH, most people who buy new cars are dead broke. That's why they take out loans to do so. It's VERY SIMPLE: borrowing is too expensive and people are broke, and these trucks are very expensive. Most people purchased Tacomas to look cool and don't really need a truck. Most people don't need trucks (trucks are basically for hauling, working tradespeople, etc> Over time, trucks became "cool." Now that all the "cool" people are dead broke: no more truck sales. Did we really need a video? Just look around at all the truck owners with new trucks, you know they are dead broke. Not to mention the fact that they cannot drive them nor park them. Look at all the unaware kids purchasing lifted trucks, working 2 or 3 jobs, living at home, with nothing, no financial sense. This is generally the truck market today. .

Toyota F themselves, going Turbo engines, with Tacoma/Tundra, too reliant on massive cooling system, on those hot running engines. Texas, other hot climate states, would not buy one, for long term reliability. My V6 Tacoma, has 300,000 miles, still runs great, in Texas heat.

Your aren`t correct ... co design with Isuzu GM diesel engine specialist (GM v8 6.6 diesel as well is created together with Isuzu )... GM even sell Chevrolet Low Cab Over (Isuzu platform) ... Reason for rear mount is that this engine is most likely from Low Cab Over platform where is perfect engine access from any direction when pop the cab ....

This truck brand new and correct me if im wrong retailed for around 56-58k? You said you paid 58k for what is soon to be a 4 year old truck. Ive gone down the rabbit hole on dealer mark ups and came across this gem. I bought my wife this truck, 21 PRO in lunar rock, 1 year they made this and during covid so production was extremely limited. With 14k miles on her truck i can sell this for more than MSRP today. Im not here to argue mark ups with people but to bring awareness to consumers. It blows my mind that nobody would pay a markup 3 years ago but will pay more than new suggested retail price on a pre owned vehicle. Im getting ready to park this 4runner in the garage with almost no miles and drive occasionaly and see what the return on my invest will be in 20 years

Looking back at this video and knowing what we now do you wish you paid a markup on the last year of the 5.7? I drive a 21' 1794 in army green, it does have low miles but it books out now more than what msrp was on the truck. Its a double edged sword!
