@@138MMA I totally agree, also, I hear people talking about how Jiri tapped Glover and I think thats giving the impression that his grappling is a bit better than it really is and I think, while Alex's grappling is relatively untested, he may be quite a bit better than people are giving him credit for. I dont think hes gonna come out looking like Ryan Hall or Anthony Smith or anything like that, but he is the protege of Glover, who is a PHENOMENAL grappler, and he apparently REALLY impressed DC with his td defense, so I think some Derrick Lewis-esque defensive grappling, or maybe even a bit better, is extremely possible.

@JD-bx7ob people also neglect to mention that the reason Jiri tapped Glover wasn’t because he was the better grappler, it was because Glover was absolutely dead from exhaustion.

Islam is still pound for pound number one in my book. He’s on a winning streak in the UFC that includes more wins than Pereira has had fights in his entire MMA career. Alex makes a good case for himself though and if he can string together a couple more he might take that spot based on him being one of the most active fighters AND he’s beating top competition. He’s just not there yet. As for how I think he wins, it will be a KO/TKO at some point, just hard to say when. I don’t think anyone with the striking defense of Jiri could make it 5 rounds with Pereira and lose no matter how durable they are. Jiri could win a decision, I just can’t see him losing one. If the numbers line up right you can play Alex by KO and Jiri moneyline to profit either way. That’s how I played Pavlovich and Volkov on the last card.

@daniellebrooks7510 he’s done pretty well for himself thus far. Jiri isn’t exactly a grapple first kind of guy. Not saying Jiri CANT go out there and grapple him. I do believe he will try to strike with him though.

If DRod had not been away for about a year and a half I’d likely bet him. The layoff makes me pass. Wanted to play the +3.5 but the line is trash. I 100% agree with you about listening to DRod in this situation. Gastelum has shown us that he doesn’t take his career seriously. Hopefully it also gives DRod a little extra motivation. Seriously though, welterweight to middleweight is a huge gap, how on earth can you miss weight by 15 lbs!? Watch him use the full one lb allowance and weigh in at 186.

@@138MMA Haha, yea that would be the icing on the cake to miss weight... I know a lot of people are concerned about lengthy absences, but I am not as much. I believe it can be good for a fighter, it gives his body and brain time to recover. MMA is a brutal sport, it's not like baseball for example!

@jean-francoisbouvier8576 very true, and I’m less concerned when fighters are younger. At 38 it makes me a bit nervous but it could end up being good for him.

I believe if Mads goes to wrestling immediately, he will have a lot of success. However, my assumption is that the damage will start to build up first and it will make the takedowns more difficult. If we see a takedown in the first 20 seconds, Mads is looking live.

I understand why they don’t allow the elbows for the tournament, but I’d rather elbows be allowed. Cuts make it hard to compete again in 2 months or whatever dude to cuts.

@@138MMA I'm more worried about the short notice plus the long trip to Saudi arabia and it being his debut, alot of debut fighters lose. I really hope it's not a situation like Gabriel santos vs lerone Murphy where the Brazilian guy comes in short notice wins but they rob him on the score cards
