as an artist you should be able to use whatever tool, source, camera, lens, camera obscurer, view, projector or what ever to make art. AI is creating new source material for artists...so who cares...it is the final work that matters....that is why artists from renaissance kept their techniques and methods a closely guarded secret...and people died who attempted to disclose...it all is a means to the ends.

I find I have come to the point that if I come to an ugly stage...I can fix this and move forward...this is when you have to be brave and no that this painting will be something that what was originally planned...sometimes you have to accept that to make it a worthwhile painting...but earlier preparation is always valuable

Really good way to check accuracy. I do have a question. Once you know you are always doing something wrong (example: like making the nose too long). What do you do to correct how you are seeing? Do you find another way to measure? Any pointer here? In any case, thanks for this video and all the others.

Hello Waddell. I'm from Thai So i watch ur vid because you were the only non-shitty "mastercopy" that is few on youtube And i want to learn traditional oil technique tip trick to adapted to digital paint So firstly. Can you enable subtitle? Auto cc is enough for me. And can you teach about fundamental of art like how to ligthing/shadowing, how to construct shape geometry free form, face proportion loomis method. Anatomy etc.

Ok I get that but what if the background to the left of the person's profile is green shrub foliage of a mixture of greens and yellow hues how do you soften the edge of the face so it's not such a hard edge when you have a mixture of small different green leaves in the background..??? Could you please get back to me on this question as I'm learning to do more lifelike paintings moving from my modern abstract acrylics and nature water colour paintings... iv never really painted a face or a persons profile before but am interested in doing a painting in oil with a person in a natural setting.. Honestly I'm still learning and am experimenting with different mediums and styles but am interested in the idea of painting the human form but in a natural setting as aposed to painting over a solid background colour

Thanks for the video. I'm in Canada, so no Artarama and minimal choice thru Amazon for Centurion. The oil prime is much more expensive than acrylic primed. That said, I get the acrylic primed panels and apply oil primer (ground) on the boards. More trouble but lower cost. You have much more experience than me. Thoughts?

Good evening, I would like to know about the brushes for painting the eyes

I won the local regional art prize purely because the judge said he hated paintings from photographs. I really did not know people painted from photographs. I get ideas from different artists and then compose from my imagination. Im really envious of you guys who have such technical skill. Do we paint to please ourselves ? Or do we please our audience?? Im a weird Francis Bacon type. Self taught but im told I have the gift. You are amazing so much so you disturb me. As all I can do is what I do. As I simply paint in a hectic state.

I find it funny that you couldn't sit still to model forms at WaterStreet. I can't either. This is 1 of the main reasons why I won't attend workshops. Because after 20 mins of painting, I need to stop or else, I'm going to freak out. Even during paintings, I have audiobooks and videos playing xD
