I don’t know what algorithm CZcams is using because I have no idea why you don’t have a million subscribers. I pray you continue to grow. You’re clearly one of the most talented artists on here... by far. Really fantastic work. Truly mind blowing.
He needs to fix his audio. Constant fan noise and hiss. He could resolve a lot of that with a $40 noise removal plugin to clean it up with the push of a button.
CZcams want to end the lifes of artist. It's annoying we literally puts so much time in creating but obvious reasons we get no views or subscribers. It's a shame.
You're a great teacher. All the tricks you share, show you really want others to know how you get your amazing results. I hope a real "you tube likes- specialist" wants to learn how to paint and stumbles upon this. You should get millions of likes!
Your statement on AI painting is exactly how i feel about it. They can write all the most complex AI algorithms they want, digital can never replicate that essence of real emotion into the artwork that the human hand/mind/soul can. Traditionalist for life.
I definitely wouldn’t say never. We’re a carbon based machine and our brains are an advance quantum computer. If we keep advancing the technology, there’s no actual reason AI won’t only catch up with our development but surpass it by leaps and bounds.
My favourite sound on your tutorial is that adorable little tongue click describing a satisfying moment of mastery that illustrates how skilled you are. Spectacular tutorial, thank you.
This is one of the best vids I’ve ever watched. You are an excellent teacher. This is exactly the kind of lesson I’m looking for. Hard to find. Thank you so much!!
You are a Beautiful person and Teacher Scott don't listen to the Haters. Your Students here are here to learn and get better from your Tutorials keep them coming!! ❤️
Thank you so much. I'm at ground zero, but I still learned something. You are hilarious. Love your humor. Scared the cats with sudden bursts of laughter. lol.
New subscriber here. What a fabulous tutorial! Very in-depth and much needed. At the same time, easy to understand. This is the first of your videos that I’ve seen. Can’t wait to learn more. I am currently using acrylics which will change things, but I learned so many tips and tricks for using color, hue, shadow and chroma. Cheers!
I went to art college in the early seventies and although I enjoyed the four years, I was disappointed in the instruction that we received. Most of our instructors were teaching conceptual art, minimalist, contemporary. We really lacked technical training ..I wanted so much to learn how to paint portraits, the human form etc…You are a fantastic instructor and a fabulous artist . It is very generous of you to share your knowledge and experience. ✏️
Scott, this is exactly the detail info I needed!! This will step my eye painting up a notch! I still need to get much done, but had a productive painting day! Thanks for making this detailed tutorial!
OMG I love your humor! Haha makes the learning so much more interesting and fun! But I admire more your passion and dedication to creating those beautiful paintings and teaching us how 💕thank you so much!!
You're amazing. I love your work and the way you teach. Love your sense of humour too which adds to watching your tutorials on repeat. Thank you so much as your teaching is helping me to develop my work and force me to be more structured. THANKYOU.
"Staying Frosty" great principles to help us really learn to look and see better! Great tutorial...I need to go paint a sample eye to help me remember!
Brilliant instruction as always Scott, love your humour makes a long video less tedious, not that I'm saying any of your videos are tedious, they're wonderful, really engaging, thank you for sharing
Eye-Eye-Eye. Who ever thought the anatomy of an eye could match the complexity of a galaxy? (“characterises the behaviour of a system or model whose components interact in multiple ways and follow local rules, leading to nonlinearity, randomness, collective dynamics, hierarchy, and emergence.”) I used to think that portraiture was romantic. Intense? Yes. But equivalent to a lecture in quantum physics? Nah. I admire you and am inspired by you but I would have to watch this video a hundred times in order to come close to seeing the eye from your perspective! SO MANY rules! Thank you for your contribution, Master Waddell. Incidentally, are you sporting a black eye? Maybe it’s just shade of your ball cap 😉
I'm starting my 1st ever oil painting today and I'm more apprehensive than I was swimming with sharks. Looking forward to it very much and I'm super grateful for your help. Thank you.
Wow. Excellent. Love the way you demonstrate and explain. Hopefully I will incorporate your teaching into my own efforts. Happy New Year from Wales (UK)
Thank you so much Scott for your awesome clear video and impeccable knowledge although i am millions of brush miles from your level and my main medium is watercolour i always find i gain so much intricate knowledge from oil painters that water colourists dont. so thank you again for Sharing your time and knowledge to others your new subscriber Trish
Thanks for sharing! I can hear you talking for hours 😁and you're soooooo funny! I like to invest my time in your channel, I find you talented and you have the ability to explain things in a captivating manner...looking forward to see video like this...or...any of yours in fact. Thanks again for sharing
That is an amazing video. It is very hard sometimes to understand why an advanced artist decided to do this or change that, since they are seeing things I am not seeing, because I do not know what I am supposed to look for. This types of videos in which it is more talk than strokes, and every stroke is explained, are the best for learning how to think as an artist.
I enjoy your videos. I am a want to be artist, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. When I create a face with eyes, my test to see if I captured the essence of someone is to see whether or not I feel the pulse of energy when I look into the eyes of the face in my art. It is not just the heart connection that is important with people, it is also the connection between the eyes.
Scott or Randy. What an informative video and just what I needed. Finishing a commission using a b/w flash picture from the 1950s. Imagining all the subtle stuff and there was this vid. Thanks so much. I have a better idea of what to do.
Wonderful video! I learned a lot from it. ❤ It would be awesome if you could make another video for painting various kinds of Asian eyes with epicanthic folds.
48:34 “I hate paint. Why do we do this?” Totally relatable Re the hiding dark in the bristles lol. As frustrating as old school Oil bPainting can be, we love the focus, the patience, the unfolding.
First video and new subscriber. I have to admit, I’ve watched a number of painting tutorials and not once have I watched 30 minutes before a drop of paint hit the canvas. The level of detail you put into the 30 minutes is crazy detailed. Awesome. Tons of info I’m sure the vast majority of non pros never thought of. This helps explain how your pieces are so good. Besides, you know, years of practice and a shit ton of swearing.
I don’t know what algorithm CZcams is using because I have no idea why you don’t have a million subscribers. I pray you continue to grow. You’re clearly one of the most talented artists on here... by far. Really fantastic work. Truly mind blowing.
I just wanted to say this!! It's fcuking wired
👏👏👏👏👍
Yeah this video alone deserves millions of views.

I’m speechless. Best art content ever. Your perspective of seeing and feeling the object you paint, amazing. And it looks so effortless for you. Wow
Thank you Scott, EYE needed this. The best tutorial or teaching I'll seen or heard on painting the eye.

Very meticulous artist! I like that very well.
Absolutely brilliant, inspiring and informative tutorial Scott. Many thanks for this insight of how you paint such Fantastic Portraits
You're beyond photo realism. Your work is realer than real. It's almost like you can reach out and touch the skin
You give such good explanations of the forms. I am blind so I am limited in checking the subject but intellectualizing the shapes is so helpful.
Thank you 💖
