Egyptian mummies often reveal shaven heads, but not always. For example the 'younger lady' (apparently Tutankhamun's mother) is bald, but the 'elder lady' from the same tomb (identified as Tut's grandmother Queen Tiye) has well-preserved long wavy hair. Tiye's parents Yuya and Thuya, whose mummies have also been found in a good state of preservation, both also have their natural hair intact. Can't be sure about the eyebrows, but I suspect those were probably retained even by the baldies. You usually don't see hair poking out under the headdresses of pharaohs, in their statues, even when their mummies reveal that they kept their hair (Ramesses II for example). That applies until the Ptolemaic era when hair starts to be visible reflecting the Greco-Roman fashion. Beautiful painting, by the way. One thing I would add would be the uraeus (rearing cobra) above the brow. This is missing on the Nefertiti bust but you can see where it would have been.

great timing! Working as a scenic for Antony and Cleopatra(outdoor community theater) and I unwind by watching your videos, the combination of Zen painting and standup commentary really keeps me paying attention and actually learning. Planning on signing on to Patreon as soon as this show loads out... Right now it's all hieroglyphics on tall walls

I very much enjoyed this episode. Love the storytelling style, and or course your painting. I did know some of this but nonetheless, you made it seem fresh. I believe there was a desecrated (face destroyed) mummy found that may be her, but still undetermined. Nice work. I will often draw people from history. Maybe I'll try a painting. Thanks for the inspiration "Randy".

You are an amazing artist .And have a great sense of humor too.
Learned so much from your videos .The biggest secret to me is how to achieve a paint density like yours. We around the World often have no brand of paint that you use( I use W&N , Rembrandt- not always professional range) and it is more stiff than yours. Great problem when painting /Have you some advice

I like your new idea. I would like some more recent heroes like Einstein or Thomas Jefferson. I can't figure out how you get away without using green. I always have to add green to lessen the intensity of the oranges and reds I'm using. Oh, I spoke too soon. I see you have some Cerulean blue added to your palette. I recently painted some dark skin. I had to literally use almost straight cadmium orange in certain areas. It actually came out okay. But yours is so beautiful. I was wondering if you are able to earn a living by just painting portraits alone.

I don't know if you'll see this and this is my first time watching your videos, so I don't know if you've covered it before, but: you said you put the study of the profile into Photoshop and then put that on a canvas. Did you clean up the lines and then project those onto the canvas as your starting point for the final painting? Or use another method to transfer to the canvas? Just wondering about that step. Thanks in advance.
