I have watched several of your videos and I love your painting process. I don’t see a video on painting hair. Could you show us how you paint hair? That would be very helpful.
I studied for three years in florence academy 2000-2003 It is shame that I didn’t met you, you are an excellent painter congratulations , you have my esteem
Hello sir 😇 I really love your videos and it has really helped so far. Please can you also make a tutorial on how to paint the human hair? a blonde hair preferably. Thank you so much 🙇🙏
OK its a good tip but I think your reasoning is not correct. Oil paint as it dries does slightly change value for different reasons. Paint thickness could be one of them but I dont think that is the cause on your painting as the difference in thickness is not great enough. Another reason for difference in value which only becomes apparent on drying is sinking in. The oil portion of the pigment partially sinks into the layer below. The shift in value in that situation is like the difference between damp patch on a wall and compared to a dry area. This is why oiling out is recommended before commencing painting because it evens out the 'wetness' and remedies the leaching of oil into lower layers or the ground. Your tip works not because of reduction in paint thickness but because of a scumbling effect - the border between the different value shapes is softened like scumbling would with wet paint. To avoid getting into this situation in the first place I always aim to complete a passage in one sitting. In otherwords aim to complete an area and not at the edge of a subtle value shift.
Thanks, you just have given me the solution for a kid's portrait I'm painting.

Thank you so much for sharing! I find it to be so helpful as I face this problem more often.

Do you oil out before you do this? Because really, how can you see the values properly if you haven't oiled out? Terrific tip, BTW, and much thanks.
