3 Ways to Extract Data from PDFs with Microsoft - ChatGPT, AI Builder, Syntex
Microsoft provides a robust solution for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) through its integration of Power Automate, AI Builder, and Autofill Syntex. Power Automate allows users to create automated workflows that can process documents and images, extracting text and data using OCR capabilities. AI Builder enhances this by providing AI models that can be trained to recognize specific types of documents and extract relevant information accurately. Autofill Syntex, part of Microsoft's SharePoint Syntex, further augments this by applying machine learning to understand content in documents and automatically tagging and classifying them for easier retrieval and management. Together, these tools enable businesses to streamline document processing, reduce manual data entry, and improve data accuracy and accessibility.

      Hi Lokasher, that's a good idea for a video, but what you would do is you would have a textbox that is only visible when other is selected. And when you patch you would write an if statement, if other then write the text input, if you did a submit form, you would do it in the update property of the card, if other then write the text input instead of the selected choice.

    If you want to extract specific fields using ChatGPT, use compose but make sure you have a delimiter like a semicolon and grab the text in between using Split. split(split(outputs('Compose'), 'VendorName: ')[1], ';')[0]. Please let me know if anyone has a better way.

      Nice love the idea, but for some reason it kept making random special characters for me. I feel like if we just wait for 1 more release of a new LLM like GPT5, we can get it perfect! • @andrewhess123

      Yes it should be doing that. The metadata is synced. So if you edit the data in SharePoint the document will reflect the changes. If you edit the word document then sharepoint will then see the changes.

      @@andrewhess123 I would use <br> if I were hard coding multi-line text myself. I'm referring here to when the USER is inputting a comment that comprises multiple paragraphs - they would be working in the multi-line input field I've provided, and they would naturally hit the ENTER key if they wanted to create a new paragraph. Do you have a video about using the "Get file content" and SP "Create file" actions to copy the body (or parts thereof) of a document into a new one? I understand docx is a zip filled with xml but I'm not having much success with just using the file content raw.

      Hi George to get the body of a document I have used free 3rd party tools that convert the document to a .txt file. There may be other ways to do this but I do not currently have a video on that topic as of yet.

    Andrew, thank you so much for your content! You're seriously a life saver. I'm running into an additional issue on this: I'm able to populate one "repeating section content control" using the Populate a Microsoft Word Template action. However, I have two tables that I'm trying to populate using two separate "repeating section content control" actions, but the Microsoft Word Template action is not detecting the second repeating section. Have you been able to populate multiple repeating section content controls using power automate? If you could provide some guidance, it would allow for some very comprehensive word reports to be generated. Thank you.

    • @andrewhess123
      @andrewhess123 Před 16 dny

      Hi Ashkaan, that's a good question, I have actually not tried the double repeating sections but I feel like it should work. This is something I would need to test out. In the documentation here it does say you can "Nest" repeating content controls so I do not see any limitations as of yet. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/client-developer/word/content-controls-in-word My suggestion is to make sure you are using the Start/End tags when you do the repeating content control. Try to isolate the issue. Try putting the 2nd one first and switch the order, does the 2nd one then show up in Power Automate?

      @@andrewhess123 Wow Andrew, such a quick turnaround! 😁 I have swapped the orders of the repeating sections and have gotten PowerAutomate to recognize the previously-unrecognizable section. I likewise used start/end tag notation for the repeating sections, but again, only one section gets detected. I’ve bypassed this for now by using the Encodian connector, which has simple syntax for adding fields (including arrays). Their documentation is also straight forward. I managed to populate multiple arrays this way, but they have a pretty hefty price tag if you want to go past their limited free tier services ($600 for 1 year up front). I’ll keep tinkering around with this. Hopefully someone out there has made it work out! I haven’t found anything in the stack exchange either. Regardless, thanks for all the help! Wouldn’t have gotten here without ya :)

    Hi Andrew, could you please share how to configure SharePoint View to show the html code as a table? In my list view the code is being showed as a text, despite of using rich text or not. Thanks!

      @andrewhess123 Před 8 dny

      Hi Marcus, I have run into this issue before, I would just try again. For some reason the rich text doesn't stick? Normally I just choose a multi-line text and turn rich enhanced text on in SharePoint.

    Hey Andrew, I notice that the first square of the Matrix is always selected by default. How can I make the matrix cleared by default? I want nothing to be selected. I tried everything (Clear(), Reset()) but nothing works. Any ideas?

    • @andrewhess123
      @andrewhess123 Před 18 dny

      I think what I did was make the points not visible if they are set at default, so you don't see them.
