    70s and 80s cold war alice gear is the best for the money , very well made and durable equipment. Especially when carrying weight for long distances. Great camping gear , and for example i use it prospecting for gold and metal detecting to carry gear . One of my favorite mods is sewing 🪡🧵 the compass pouches on , pants, jackets, and on the canteen covers with fishing 🎣 line .

  • @TacticoolVIKINGBeard

    Id also add a few 3-5 sec rushes and some mantling barriers if possible

    In the 1980s we used to sew 68 pattern water bottle pouches together to get the four pouch rear set up. Four rear pouches give a shelf for a short bergen to sit on, and the belt can take the weight on the hips. My load out for the pouches are two water bottles on the outer with metal mug. Centre two have mess tin (small) with food, brew kit, and odds and ends. Front pouches are for ammunition. A poncho/tarp can be put flat on the pouch shelf. Molle for attaching scrim. The basic waist fighting battle order should get one through 48 hours at a push if isolated from friendly forces/support. Other stuff goes in the bergen or smock pockets. Chest rigs are popular because of the prolific reliance on vehicles. Given a choice I'd always go for a waist carry system.

    As for the little flap you said at min 2:28, you cut of, it is an important piece of the closure to fasten the pouch lid securely. I wanted just to add this, in case you didn´t knew. Thanks for sharing, regards Torsten

    I rarely believe round count stories mostly because of the cost factor behind it. Doesn’t make sense you’d spend so much on ammo but neglect your gun in such a fashion and refusing to spend 15-20 bucks on maintenance items.

  • @WalterRitchey
    @WalterRitchey Před 14 dny

    Thanks for the thorough demonstration! Talked me out of a NATO version. Unlike a lot of people, I don’t see proprietary as a bad thing per se. It allows the manufacturer total quality control. If you have an issue with a magazine they can diagnose their own magazine, but maybe not one of 40 aftermarket copies. HK does this all the time. They will make something just different enough if possible to make it proprietary so that the end user experience is going to be consistent. If you’re slapping who knows what accessories made in China on your gun and cause issues, you’re going to have a bad time so just prevent people from being able to do that in the first place!

    I had pretty much the same idea. I think that you are disregarding the need for sustainment in the field. If you are in a situation where you have to ditch your pack, you will be burning lots of calories and just some electrolytes will not be enough to keep you going. I think you should put a buttpack on the system. Let me tell you about my own design. I live in Europe and I managed to find a source for really cheap pieces of the PLCE system. I paid around $3-4 for the webbing. I used it as the basis of a Frankenstein lbe that I am still modifying. I started with the belt from a swedish 304 webbing, which allows me to set up the belt for my waist if i'm only wearing a t-shirt and I can quickly expand it so I can fit a thick coat or even armor underneath the webbing without having to adjust the pouches. I use one of the 304 pouches on my right side and a molle SAW pouch on my left. beyond that I have a full size molle medkit, 2 canteens (one titanium, with a cup, and one plastic) as well as a buttpack I maade myself. I will buy some proper nylon and make a new buttpack because I made some mistakes with the design of this one because I was modifying an existing piece of gear that turned out poorly. I can also mount a PLCE hip pad, but I don't like how much it makes some of the pouches stand off and I haven't noticed any substantial rubbing due to the alice clips I used to secure some of the molle pouches so I will probably keep it as is.

    The only time I don't carry my Nano is when I carry my S&W 629, and that's only in the woods... The Nano has been an ideal EDC for my me, and has given flawless reliability. The only difficulty has been typical of all sub-compacts, it's size may require additional practice to develop the same proficiency you have with larger handguns. It's a great shooter.

    You can use MOLLE with this easier than LC 2. Those web keepers stop the slide pretty well. And 550 cord to hold them down. Also, the rear straps can be run through the mounting bars on the buttpack, or use clips, etc. More versatility than a FLC or old school LBE. Right now mine is set up with the rear panel only and LBE straps up front. I use an old Field Line hydro pack. I wish that Field Line would reenter the market. Good stuff for the money.

    Just saying: brand new gun clearly, the RIA mag fed including the VRF, the Panzer, the Radikal, all the Turkish knock offs like Black Aces and Century, all have a 100-200 round break-in before the malfunctions abate. Then half of them will run with fairly normal malfunctions per 100 rounds. And move the QD anchor on the sling to the other side, or, some bullpups sling better right arm through.

    Before I got a job that required a specific firearm, I carried a .45 Colt Commander. Then my job required me to carry a .38. Then I found a table of allowances the let my job carry 1911 NM. Then came the M9, 15 years later I retired. I'm the guy responsible (I think) for RIA building their version of the CCO. I have quite a collection Then I tested the .40, and I liked it. A LOT. So, that's what I carry now by choice. More than a 9, more rounds than my .45 in the same size package.
