I think the 40 fell on hard times because small, framed men and most women had trouble qualifying with it. So, to make sure people could qualify many departments went to the 9mm.

The .40 fell on hard times because everything turns into a popularity contest and people pick teams. Some guntubers said they didn't like it and everyone else joined the 9mm bandwagon. But like someone else said, it's stupid because people are complaining about the "snappiness" of the .40, but now all of a sudden the 10mm is the best millimeter. It's just stupid.

.40 S&W is a good round. The thing I find interesting is everyone who loves 10mm dogs the crap out of .40 S&W. Ironically. 40 is really just a slightly less powerful round than 10mm but has the same bullet weights in common ammunition. Also most 10mm's typically hold the same if not slightly less number of rounds than .40 S&W.

Great video dude! I got my first 40 s&w very recently actually it was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up, G22, honestly it shoots totally fine, it has a different recoil impulse from 9mm or 45, it's not any more "snappy" per se, just different, more of a straight back, but less "flippy" compared to a 9mm out of a similar barrel length? S&W knows how to make a good gun, I always felt the Shield handled recoil well for being such a small size, even in 40 I felt it was very controllable next to a 9mm Shield side by side. Now I'm tempted to pick up a P30 or USP in 40 just to add to the collection. All these industry trends keep changing, I don't think 40 will go extinct any time soon, at least it better not lol AFAIK it's still like at least #3 most popular handgun cartridge in North America when you look at the ammo shelves of local retailers. Nice to see the female perspective, it is a unique perspective with female anatomy, hands being shaped differently, different grip strength, etc, it's all relative.

I recently started carrying a G22 in a Galco Royal Guard 2.0 holster, I find it very easy to carry and keep hidden. And 15+1 of .40 from a full-size pistol is some very serious firepower, I prefer the G22 over my HK45C which weighs the same when both are loaded. The G22 doesn’t hit QUITE as hard as the .45 but the gun is easier to shoot well and you really can’t beat having nearly double the capacity for only a bit less damage per-shot.

Put a Hogue Handall grip sleeve on it and it is more often than not, my go to warm weather concealed carry. It's accurate, manageable, and reliable. I also acquired a 9mm version of it for a closeout price, and to me, recoil is not much different between the two. What do you mean the Glocks in .40 still fail? I’ve owned the 27, 23, and 22, currently only own and carry the 22 because I enjoy full-sized pistols and I don’t find it difficult to carry or conceal (Galco Royal Guard 2.0, GREAT holster).
I definitely agree that you can run into problems because they’re not (except the Gen5) actually designed for .40, but I simply replace the recoil spring assemblies with heavier Wolff units and have had no problems or jams or anything like that, ever.
My H&K .40 (P2000SK V3 LE, now my dad’s carry gun) was CONSIDERABLY softer-shooting than the G27, that’s absolutely true and the gun itself is just a lot more robust overall as well.
But I’ve not had problems with Glock .40’s

The reason everyone is wrong about 9mm being more or less equal to .40 and .45 and .357 Sig/Magnum, etc., boils down to two main things, primarily:
    1. A misunderstanding about what actually causes different effects in terminal performance of pistol bullets. (It’s physics, not “bullet design”). It’s weight, impact speed, diameter, and bullet construction that determine terminal ballistics, in addition to the physical characteristics of the intended target.
    2. They’ve never actually killed living animals with pistols in various calibers to really find out what happens. They have no understanding or experience of that.
.40 was, is, and always will be better in every single aspect of terminal performance than 9mm, and the difference is substantial. Clothed, naked, car door, car glass, big guy, small guy, whitetail deer, raccoon, coyote, bear. In all circumstances, .40 will create wider and deeper wounds than 9mm and kill much faster. Reliably, predictably, faster kills and better blood trails than 9mm.
The ONLY advantage of 9mm is a slight increase in magazine capacity and a slight decrease in felt recoil. And for those two gains, you lose the reliable, predictable, and barrier-blind all-round effectiveness and fast kills.
To me, there’s absolutely no choice to even make between the two, .40 S&W is the default and bare-minimum defensive or hunting pistol cartridge.
