Strange question but I would like to hang a hammock using concrete posts , the posts are encased in concrete on my patio area at either side of the width of the house but I’m nervous it will hold my weight . If I added the wooden posts as per this video would that increase the strength of the posts enough to take about 105 kgs ?

What is the modern fascination with sticking "pre" in front of words when the original word was perfectly adequate for the job? When I was working in the middle east, certain nationalities would insist on using the word "prepone" to bring a meeting forward. Why would you say "pre-drill" when "drill" fits the bill? Are you going to drill them holes before you drill them?

When pouring wood posts, wrap the bottom in felt so that it can last long Also drive a couple of 4 or 6 inch nails into it for added strength.

Ahhh ok i was wondering why mine were turning at the end. Some other video mentioned if right handed (with sledge) drive it 1/8 turn clockwise to start, if left handed 1/8th turn counter clockwise, so as to end up square. I had followed that instruction but ended up staying an 1/8th off 😂 Guess i was hitting it too much dead center. Ill dig the 2 i did today up and try again tomorrow (too hot!)

To get the 4x4 stump OUT of the spike drill 3 deck screws into a 3-4 foot wide 2x4 parallel to the ground and you can hammer it upwards out of the plug. Also… cut the sacrificial 4x4 plug about 2 feet high. If it’s too short you won’t have room to swing the hammer from underneath it

The foam you are using is rubbish. Researching this a little bit, there is something called Polecrete or Postloc that is a 2 part foam and it is substantially stronger then the stuff you demonstrated. I have seen video of utilities using it to secure powerpoles, it is far stronger than the stuff in your video. This stuff looks like something of a rip off. I have seen a pair of videos, the bags don't seem to have enough material, and the foam seems inferior. The Polecrete is closed cell, and seems vastly stronger, equal to concrete from what I can see structurally, but a lot lighter.

I’ll be using a piece of chain with the lag bolts through that. I also am replacing them with posts set in paver base. You can ramp down that paver base as hard as concrete, but no water pools. With concrete, the wood swells and contracts is it gets wet and dries. When it rains after contracting, water seeps in between the concrete and the wood, rotting it right there.

If you have a look at the petrified wood article on Wikipedia, and the animal grazing post, you may realise wood can be turned to crystals and stone... Which may also be used to attract wildlife and leech nutrients into soil... Could make for some unique creative posts that may mature with age rather than decay, and contribute to garden health and help support nature... 🤔
