The cactus garden is THRIVING in a drought!
Everything’s looking great! I’m super impressed by that Brazoria, it’s showing promise to be the hardiest big trunking palm of all. Love it!
Thank you so much! I agree!
Looking great, that thing is tough as nails. Trunk cut and subzero temps and it just keeps growing. Love it!
Everything looking great, I have similar cacti, my wife loves em🤗🌴🌴🙏🌴Jose's Tropical Garden, central NJ zone 7a czcams.com/video/YsLrrxfOZYA/video.htmlsi=AG2MtGhucWd-cOqa https
Nice! Had no idea we had them here!
We do indeed!
There are some large specimens in Dawe's Arboretum. Southeast of there I am aware of two more.
@@chickenfarm09 I have never heard of this place. Did a quick Google and it says it’s due east of Columbus on 70. Is that right?
@@justhereforthefoliage Yes just off 70 they have a website too. Just Google Dawes Arboretum
Beautiful tree! The whole hickory genus makes outstanding trees!
Totally agree!
Wow! That is INCREDIBLE! What a fantastic specimen
This yucca makes me mad...bc it's not mine! Lol! Thank you for watching!
happy to see all that green!
I've been growing them since 2019. They've been a real joy to grow
Stunner indeed
Great update
Thank you for watching!
Nice sabals I’m gojng to Florida tomorrow hopefully I can get some palm seeds ima get royal palms and musa basjoo I’ll try to get a sabal palm 🌴
Sabal minor is the way to go!
SABALS looking good, hoping for a good growing season. I have a Needle Palm, Blooming, first ever for Blooming.
Thank you! Very nice! Exciting isn't it?
I have a couple different opuntia pads i got from my friend. I just twisted a few pads off and brought them home. I have another pad from a different opuntia, and did the same. I have 2 tree stumps out in my yard, so i shoved the pads down into the crevices of the stumps and packed some soil around the prickly pad's base. They've been flowering and growing all season now. They should make these eye sore tree stumps look really cool after a good grow season or 2.
Awesome ❤
Nice needle palm
Amazing! 24 years, tons of sub zero temps, cut back to the ground, no protection ever, etc. this thing has seen it all! Great proof that it CAN work here long term without human intervention!
Indeed! I even know the guy who planted it originally!
@@cincytropics Tell him to plant more lol!
Good looking needle
Gonna be a hot one this week. Be careful with yourself and with your plants
My Konjac came up last week in zone 6B SE Ohio
What nursery I can buy theses varieties for fruit ? Thanks
coldhardycactus.com and ethicaldesert.com are fantastic starting points!
Must be some voodoo stuff 😂
So i live very close to your location in northern Kentucky zone 6b so do you leave them in the ground all year??
I sure do!
Mine tastes like berries like blackberries and maybe blueberries and raspberries... Just a very berry flavor and absolutely delicious. I wish it had less seeds bc i would totally make something with it.
Love it!!!
Im in northern Kentucky just over the bridge from Cincinnati! I have a very large prickly pear that does great in the ground and I don't bring it in for the winter. It blooms profusely 💚💚💚 glad i found you!
Nice yellow bloom. Must be a rough go the weed a cactus bed.
I need to invest in some extra thick leather gloves! Lol
I just bought a opuntia lindtimeiri because you said it was good it flowered when I bought and has fruit now
It has YUMMY fruit! My lindheimeri bit the dust after a couple of years sadly. But every thing else made it with flying colors!
Hey, this vid is so helpful! I'm trying to do my research as to which prickly pear variants I should get to make delicious prickly pear jam, and I believe every species mentioned here can survive here in my area of northern Utah. Any recommendations on which ones I should focus my eye on?
Opuntia phaeacantha and phaeacantha hybrids should do well for you!
That's a harsh climate.
Whew 1.5F is pretty darn cold. I hope we never get that low again here. Nice survivor so far
Hi, for 5 years I have been growing Musa Itinerans in my garden in the province of Rome, the only problem is that it is extremely invasive. In two seasons it easily reaches 8 meters.
Can u tell me some specifics on how u planted it in the ground? Any special soil mix? Did u water it everyday? Do u fertilize them? I just ordered 2 hoping we can pull this off. We like I said are in Southern Indiana in 6b zone. Im hopeful- w you saying u planted one in Madison, IN and that one is doing well
No special soil. I don't water mine at all but my inlaws occasionally water theirs. The one at their house is against a nice sunny southern exposure against their house. Here is a video that I made of it last Thanksgiving. I will do an update next time I am there. czcams.com/video/h0aTctrvjXY/video.htmlsi=-L3MJ6s6uBWAOZ3P
Thank you so much for your info!
@trinitye6928 anytime!
We are in 6b too southern indiana did u do anything to protect it?
Nope. Just a sheltered location. I planted one at my inlaws house in Madison, Indiana a few years ago. It never gets protected and it's starting to get big enough to notice from the street!
That's amazing! I planted a Chicago Hardy and Oylmpian Fig last year for the 1st time. I'm hoping they come back, fingers crossed! Cool to see this one coming back from the stem!
Purchased Pink China from Brian’s Botanicals. I wondered about putting them on the south against my house, so I’m going to try it now & see how it does.
Give them a decent layer of mulch and they should do fantastic for you!
@@cincytropics thanks!
Can you run that name by me one more time? I am not familiar with that one.
Teramo. It's a fig brought over from teramo, Italy. Fruit is small to medium sized. Has a round shape with a brown sugar flavor with caramel notes. Very productive too!
Amazing 👏. That's special indeed
I was excited to see it as well!
wow that’s quite impressive congratulations ☘️
Thank you so much!
My lsu purple fig did that
Very nice!
Nice! I live in Indiana, about 45 miles from you! Just starting growing pear cactus. Thanks for the info!
Should I grow needle palms or sabals in my NE OH garden? I have a good spot to put it against the shed and have a cold protection shelter to put on it with Christmas lights. It is also in a dry spot where the snow just seeps through.
I'd go with needle palm
A friend introduced me to them. We have one of several species here that produces purple fruit with an almost black seed pocket. It has overtaken watermelon as my favorite fruit. The flavor and consistency of it is absolutely perfect! Wish I knew the name of it....
