Nintendo as a whole, not just Pokemon, have a massive game preservation issue. It's no coincidence that Nintendo games are the most emulated games on the market. They simply have awful backwards compatibility, especially for the games that were originally released on their handheld platforms. While Nintendo always had a mainline console, their handheld platforms were on a separate ecosystem. Games like Pokemon were originally Game Boy exclusive and only begun appearing on their main console in spin off titles like Pokemon Stadium. It wasn't until the Switch that Nintendo finally merged their console and handheld ecosystems together into a single platform and ecosystem. I don't discount the greed aspect, as all parties involved in the Pokemon franchise, have a proven track record of being excessively greedy, even by the incredibly low standards set by the gaming industry as a whole. Yet I don't think greed is the answer here, at least not on its own. Nintendo, as a company, simply changed. We have to remember that Nintendo used to be *the* home console company after beating Atari in the original console war which catapulted them to industry leader status. Only to than be utterly, and unexpected at the time, crushed by Sony and their PlayStation which forced Nintendo to reevaluate their entire company. Pokemon, like most of Nintendo's other incredibly famous IPs, were a product of that early era where Nintendo was *the* industry leader. It was simply a product of another era, of a completely different company at this point. I do agree with something you did mention in this video, which is the internal competition factor. Basically Nintendo doesn't want to compete with itself, old titles vs new titles. Not necessarily in terms of sales per se, but also simply in straight up comparisons between the old and new Nintendos and nipping expectations that their new products will resemble their old ones. I feel that this is the main reason Nintendo is willingly leaving a lot of money on the table by refusing to sell their old titles anywhere, fully knowing that people who still want to play them, again as you said in the video, resort to emulation. Emulation, which again, isn't supported by Nintendo and therefore is obtained by alternative means. Again Nintendo is not blind, they fully know this is going on and are apparently perfectly ok with it. They rather lose money from selling these older titles than having the weight of all these older titles crush their newer titles which most people agree are simply not on the same quality and passion level as a whole.

My core game as a kid was Emerald, but now that I’ve finally played HG/SS I gotta say it truly is the peak of the series. Only thing I missed was the characters and story. Emerald had great ones you could connect with like Wally and Steven and I didn’t get as much of that from GSC or HG/SS.

When i first played this game ( The original Gold ) Accessing Kanto is a hell of surprise. It might not have such a story, but it feels like a free bonus FULL DLC game. That was the time when there were no spoilers going on around. Just enjoying the feeling of "Wow, there are more than the original 151 pokemon" and bam, you're back in kanto just like that and get to meet all of the 8 leaders again.

Ordered it from play asia along 2 other games and I ended up paying less than 40 euros per game (118 euros total including tax and shipping).

I never had this game but I think for people who like it 60 is fair just to have a one screen experience. Id gladly pay 60 to have A Link Between Worlds without a bottom screen

If they sold the OG games for like 20$ people would eat it up, and if they allow you to transfer pokemons from within the same console to the new games along with creating new pokemons that are actually cool they'll sell the current game easily.

Paper mario TTYD looks and PLAYS 100% better, literally, the switch versuion is 30 fps they cut the fucking framerate IN HALF. GTFO (not you, Nintendo. You on the other hand make great videos) there is no way im paying for anything from Nintendo ever again, as over the past few months I decided to dig deep into the Nintendo rabbit hole and found out about how they put that poor man Gary Bowser in jail for selling mod chips and helping design a website that sold them. Not only did they throw him in jail, they sued him for three fucking million dollars claiming that that's the amount of damages he did to nintendo. For the rest of his life it will be garnishing his paycheck, taking more than half of it before he even gets to cash it. Do you know what happens when you do that to somebody? When you take away their ability to provide? For themselves and for their hypothetical families? They kill themselves. That's what happens because you cannot take amendment and livelihood away from him, garnishing wages is on much more than take money, takes your ability to find a girlfriend, to have kids, to have a family and to just be a regular member of society. I swear my computer business makes it big I'm going to hire carry Bowser and make sure to only pay him off the books and make for it personally let Nintendo know that I am doing that and then I'll face them in court I hate them and I hope they fucking die. I hope whoever the fuck at Nintendo agreed when the lawyer said that that's what they should do, I hope they die a miserable fucking death You're going to tell me that Gary Bowser did $3 million in damages to nintendo? Unreal engine and he got right around their bullshit by just making each level individually. It's not like somebody's going to mod those levels together and release it or anything. Like take modern warfare it's so dumb that you have to buy a new 100 dollar game that doesn't change much of anything in order to play.

Problem: Luigi’s mansion 2 and 3 are both notoriously bad at being emulated. (2 won’t even launch, 3 will get around 20fps regardless of your gaming rig) I’m not sure if it would make a difference, but it is still unknown how well or not this HD remaster may emulate. 🤷‍♂️

This is probably my favorite 3DS game, so I’m getting it regardless of the price

$60 is very high for the game, what sucks though is that this is going to the definitive addition because you can use a second analog stick. This was a feature never added to the 3ds version of dark moon and it makes a huge difference in the gameplay so if you pirate the game you're going to get an inferior experience. It almost seems like they never added analog stick support with the circle pad pro on purpose smh

I am going to get it, ive been waiting for them to remake this for so long, i haven't been able to play the game properly in a long time, i even said to myself I'd by it full priced too, i just want to re-live the nostalgia (and its my favourite out of the three games)

It always bothers me how these re-releases cost more than when the game was brand new. I think this game cost $40 initially (the typical retail cost of a first party 3ds game). I understand new players may not mind, but if you already played it once and just want to re-experience the game, then its hard to justify spending that much more. This is why i miss the old Virtual console, even if it didn't always have a great library of old games.

I’m not getting it anyway. It’s overpriced and I never played the original Dark Moon. I have a 3DS and it’s like $10-$20 on eBay so if I really want to play Dark Moon, I’ll just order a copy of the original game on eBay.

Its more likely for Nintendo as a company to dissolve than it’d be to port the superior, previous installments.

Basically this is one of those,"Mario movie" games that they know will sell since it's a prequel to their almost 15 million seller and is basically the game version of that Dark Lands scene from the Mario movie. It also involves...well different mansions which would help ease the confusion of, "Why is it called Luigi's Mansion if it has nothing to do with a mansion?"

Personally I will never play emulation. I prefer hardware and & official games. Unfortunately that subjects me to the whims of the retro markets or TPC/GameFreak/CI and Nintendo.

Not those online-only competitive games that serve as soap operas leading to no sense of progression nor any story that excites you (if there is one even) and only serve as a constant casino-like slot machine for the corporations that took over some companies that were once the best and respected game companies. This is why I only play some competitive games only once in a blue moon. As a 90's kid, moved from Asia to Europe, I had exposed myself to both Western and Asian games to this day and can easily choose games to be on my top 10. Most people around me only play Western games that are mainstream, or just FIFA games. They rarely touched any Asian games that are better than what the West can offer. But for me, not only I play certain titles that are mainstream, but also explore the hidden gems that most people never heard of or heard very little about. This made me having so much options open when it comes to trying out new games from various genre. To me, competitive gaming kills the definition of gaming. Many online people are toxic from what I've heard, or just aim to win...I mean, it's not like they're on e-sports. Even online modes of some single player games (fighting games especially) I kept getting spammers of the same combos over and over again just because they are the "winning moves". Online modes meant to be fun, but many people chose to take this away, which is a shame.
