  • Pokemon Emerald is one of the most polarizing games in it's entire franchise! Some people love it and some people hate it... Personally, this is my first time going through this game, so let me give you my unbiased opinion!

    Emerald was my favorite main line game growing up the only thing that I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have the physical special split that was introduced in gen 4. But now with rom hacks like Emerald Kaizo that adds that and a tougher journey my love for it has been revived.

    Generally, people who were too young or not yet born during the time of gen 3/Emerald will never understand how good it was.

    When I hear any song from Emerald I get so nostalgic. This is the soundtrack of my childhood

    Playing these games as a kid was an entirely different experience than playing it as an adult. This will always be the most nostalgic game for me and holds special memories because of the hours I spent on it playing with my cousin. I don’t think I could play this game again though, it won’t bring me the same joy I felt playing it back in the early 2000s, the world was just different back then.

    Emerald was a fantastic game for the most part! Back when they came out as a kid we at least still had Cerebii we could use when we were lost cuz that site has been around for ages. I also love the remakes a ton that added the Emerald content in there unlike what the gen 4 remakes did not having any Platinum content. Also this was the perfect day for you to release this video considering the new game announcement.

    I think one thing you missed was how brutal Watson is if you chose torchic. Nincada is evolved by now. The only good resist is seedot line or shroomish line by this point. And they don’t excel either due to his magneton. That gym is the hardest for any torchic starter

      I’ll disagree, double kick took care of the steel types very easily and the rest usually just used sonic boom so they went smoothly. Just my experience though

    • @kjoeyb.
      @kjoeyb. Před 3 měsíci +1

      his team has exactly 1 steel type being said magneton. and manectric is his level 24 ace who has 105 speed and special attack. only way this fight "easy" is if you level grinded or only use your starter the whole game and are overleveled. atop of that his voltorb will outspeed any combusken and will self destruct on them.@@NightshadeDE

    • @kjoeyb.
      @kjoeyb. Před 3 měsíci

      and in emerald his team is 4 with manectric, electrike voltorb and magneton, compared to his ruby version three with 2 steel types. bro had johto syndrome in ruby and sapphire not even using the flagship gen 3 electric type@@NightshadeDE

      @@kjoeyb. idk man I just never had an issue during my runs of emerald when I went for Torchic. Usually not over leveled or anything just never ran into a wall on Watson during any of my runs. Could just be getting lucky, but I seem to recall there being a lot more pokemon to choose from then you originally said. Like I’m pretty sure you could grab a Geodude from Granite Cave to steamroll him, even Aron had served me well in that fight. Combuskin can take down the magnet boy and out some solid damage until it goes down. Then a geodude just cleans up the rest, or a mix of Aron and whoever else is in the party.

    I grew up with those older pokemon games, and it's hard not to see them with nostalgia goggles, which made it super interesting to have the perspective of someone who played the game for the first time! I really enjoyed your review and how it was structured. Keep it up, much love

    Im pretty sure the hideouts are explained to you, are you sure you talked to every single NPC? I need to go through it again but I never remember having issue with that part I feel like there was some thread that linked them.

    Emerald is by far my favorite Pokemon game. It brought my favorite starter, Swampert, as well as abilities to the franchise. But above all that was the Battle Frontier. By far the best postgame I have ever experienced. You had 7(?) UNIQUE Battle Facilities to explore the games mechanics in new ways. Aside from the Battle Tower, I don't think they have even tried to implement any of the rest in any other game. Sure, the Battle Pike, Battle Palace, and Battle Arena might have been mostly duds, but the Battle Factory and Battle Pyramid were easily replayable for many, MANY hours. The only Facility since Emerald that had unique play-styles was the one that you had to spin a wheel to determine some random effect for the next fight. (After looking it up, Battle Arcade, Gen 4)

    Emerald is a great game imo, there's just a few things I dislike when compared to Ruby/Sapphire. Mostly the fact that you have a water gym followed by a water champion, combined with all the water routes (which I think are over hated) just leaves torchic players or anyone using rock and ground pokemon at a disadvantage as you lack the initiative to train them as much when compared to something like electrike or shroomish. Replacing most of the contest halls with battle tents was awesome though.

    Honestly Gen 3, Emerald was the GOAT, the 3 starters were all equally amazing, also all of them were equally fan favourites too, the new pokemons were alot and the pokemon designs were good looking, also it was the most pokemon looking like designs, so it was the perfect designs! And the new concept jump from the previous gen, beautiful and creative places. Though other gens do have these aspects too, but ya Emerald had all of these aspects hit altogether at the same time in one game, so ya pokemon Emerald was just different and amazing!
    The reason pokemon boom crazily is because of the first 3 gens, gen 1, 2, 3. And even the gen 1-3 pokemon adventure manga was BEAUTIFULLL!
    Regardless love all gens but ya this one hits DIFFERENT ❤️🙆🏻‍♂️

    Never heard another poketuder mention emulator as a means of playing they dance around it. I assume due to flagging from CZcams, I'd maybe say this in some way to make a joke just to avoid this.
    Maybe this is paranoia, but I'd hate for some of your vids to go.
    Good luck mate

      Nah don’t worry about it. I’ve been discussion emulation for a while because it’s not illegal. Pirating roms is (kind of), so I don’t necessarily advocate for it. Anyone who wants specific advise on getting roms and stuff can just dm me on discord.

    I feel emerald and platinum are both extremely overrated, and that's mostly due to gen 3 and 4 being pretty lack luster in their original versions. So the improvents they made felt more impactful than they really were.
