All Wheel Drive Electric mountain board made from hoverboard hub motors!
In this video, I show how I converted a regular belt driven 2wd electric skateboard into an AWD 8" pneumatic tire monster. I build my own 10s3p battery pack, enclosure, and reprogram 2 hoverboard ESC's to drive 4 36VDC hub motors. I added a surf adapter for an incredible 5 foot turning radius. I added lights and an odometer, then I ride it around campus in the snow and salt to demonstrate the design's versatility. I rode this board for 2 years while I finished my master's degree in biomedical engineering. It saved me about 30 minutes a day of walking time as I was a commuter student. It cost me about $500 to build and can do things that $2000 boards do. Max speed is 22 MPH - because I want to live and not die. Range on my recycled battery cells is about 7 miles, more than enough for what I needed. I liked it so much I built a second one as a backup. Achilles heel - WATER. Any leak at all kills the board instantly. China made ESC's are incredibly delicate and fail even if you look at them wrong.... . Watertigtness is an absolute must! My next upgrade will be a VESC.

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain Před 7 lety

      I drive a USED German car, that I bought completely wrecked off another American who bought it from another American who bought it from yet another American. So not only did I keep my money here in America, I also helped the environment by RECYCLING a smashed car that would have gone to the scrap yard and did not buy a new car. A new car adds at least 10x more carbon to the atmosphere (due to manufacturing, energy, and resources to make it) than recycling a used one. Think it through for a moment. When you buy used at home, it no longer matters where it was manufactured because buying used means you are recycling. And at 40mpg I dont feel bad about not driving an American gas guzzler.

    I am very impressed with your TDI modifications. I have an 04 Jetta TDI also (mines the BEW engine not ALH like yours). I have been looking to install HHO injection on mine for a while. How does the actual injection into the manifold work? i assume you would need atleast a few bar of pressure to inject the HHO as the intake would be pressurized by the turbo. is there no problems with pre-combustion? like does the HHO gas just ignite when the diesel ignites from compression? Id love to see a follow up on this video with some test results on mileage. Great work!

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain Před 7 lety

      Hello, and thank you. The HHO is introduced pre-turbo, where the piping is not pressurized. The percentage of HHO in the system is low enough that pre-combustion is not an issue.

Should I get an ECU remap and dynotune after introducing a HHO system for maximum efficiency? Totally agree with you re EGR, but also DPF. I believe if it is tuned properly then emissions including diesel particulates are minimized.
