What's rude about semi-trucks and a version control system?
In Britain, "semi" usually refers to a semi-detached house, but it's funnier if you know it's also slang for the beginnings of an erection. We rarely use that word to describe a truck. We usually call those lorry cabs.

Neither nude or naked are rude words, but they refer to something rude. "a semi" is british-english slang for a partially erect penis. We don't call articulated trucks "semi-trailers".
@@Person01234 No one calls them "semi trailers." They're called "semi trucks" in the US cuz they don't have a bed/back end. It's just the cab. But thanks for explaining what "semi" means in the UK. Here in the US we say "chub"

Do most Americans pronounce it as "Sem-eye"? In Britain, it's always "Semmee", whether we're talking about a semiconductor, a semi-detached house, a semi final, or a semi(-erection). I don't think I've ever heard a Brit use "semi" to describe a truck. Indeed, it's more common to use the word "van" for those mid-sized vehicles that Americans call trucks, and I think "lorry" is more commonly used for the bigger ones. We use the word truck too though, especially in he context of "flatbed trucks".
@@AutPen38 I've never heard "sem-ee" before. A van is totally different from a truck. A van is basically a box on wheels with no windows and doors on the back. Usually used by businesses and kidnappers because of the space(and lack of windows for kidnappers... Think the "free candy" creeper vans. As for midsized vehicles, most people have SUVs which look like a cross between vans and trucks but are legally considered trucks for some reason... Or they drive minivans which look like but are actually usually larger than vans but instead of storage space, there are extra seats and windows. Minivans usually have sliding doors too. There are pickup trucks, semi trucks(tractor-trailer units, legally/officially), and other work trucks (like garbage and dump trucks). Semis are called such as they only have the cab and no rear-end.
