@@mustermannfm thank you for that. I was interested in how other top jobs weren’t easy to come by even with your experience and credentials within the game. I want to try to be realistic when creating a manager with a backstory (I am flirting with CHATGPT since I’m not very creative) but, I don’t want the game to be too easy at the same time.

@@Charlie5Marine I think a large part of the job struggle was down to the game having a very binary approach to the job search, so if I had started at a lower league team and taken them up first, they'd have been more inclined to hire me. So in that regards, I don't think badges would have made too sizeable a difference. The game recommends badges for the level you want, so I reckon you can't go too wrong with starting there, and maybe for a bit of a challenge dropping it down a bit. (That also helped with my decision on Continental C. I think for Greek Super League it recommended Continental A, so dropping it a couple seemed reasonable)

There are plenty of videos out there re: exporting data from FM. Here's a good starting point: czcams.com/video/un30pOTjWmY/video.html The principles are the same. Identify which metrics are valuable to you. The spreadsheet isn't available, as I use it for multiple things and have not tidied it up for public consumption. One aspect of the position series is it will allow me to identify which metrics I actually need, so I can then curate a more targetted/streamlined database which will have a Looker Studio dashboard for public access. That won't be available for a while, though (possibly not until FM25).

As always, it's going to depend on your overall tactical setup, because that will dictate what you expect from a player. But in general, break it down by each phase. In possession, they are expected to stay deep in the rest defence. You are likely to prioritise ball retention (low possession lost per 90) here and, in possession-heavy systems, ball progression (high progression passes per 90). In transition, they will be defending against the counter, so you are looking at players who are good at regaining possession (high possession won per 90). Out of possession, they will be defending wide areas. Potentially need to win their ground duels when isolated against wingers (high tackles won per 90) and/or responsible for stopping crosses (high blocks per 90). Everything is relative. If you have the means/effort to export and calculate stuff in better detail, you will benefit from adjusting metrics for possession.

No offence to American fans, but most of them don't realize that there are other options than Cruyff's 433/343 total football and FM's meta 4231 that a lot of teams employ. The delicious salty tears on display when I show my trusty 442/424 dominating with a Target Man on support duty feeding an advanced forward is a joy to behold. I did employ your Segundo Volante idea from your moneyball and improved the tighter results which has left them even more baffled. I'm now using it at Hajduk Split and Olympiacos, with a youth academy challenge, but both are in their infancy. Thanks for the question, you're rapidly becoming my favourite FM youtuber!

The first 20 seconds covers it. I ran multiple simulations, exported and aggregated the data for all players who played over 900 minutes from the top 30 leagues. I then comb through that database to shortlist players. Then scout them. The. Take over the clubs of a couple that I think are really interesting and simulate to see if my assumptions are correct.

Out of curiosity - does the Marking attribute play a big part in how to determine the DM e.g. bwm/hb/dm? This might be too generic but I can't help but wonder if the tacking is more important in that sense.

@@ekarathjiya-amorndej7233 think of it in terms of what you expect the player to do. If your tactic focuses on holding shape and cutting out passing lanes, then marking/positioning will have a greater impact. If you're looking to harass and engage, then tackling and aggression becomes more important.

Regarding this video, we set up in Real World mode with the transfer window disabled, so all the transfers were just those that happened in real life on the dates they happened in real life. There is little I delegate. As mentioned in the first episode, we are very dogmatic, and that requires quite a high level of control.
