    Salamu Alukum Back home in Nablus, Palestine we used to have very large Fig tree. This tree was taller than three story building where I used to live, it was a few feet taller than the three story. The width of this tree approximately 25 to thirty feet. During summer time, I used to climb this lovely tree and pick up thirty to forty figs almost every day. The fig used to be very large I would say four to five figs almost a pound. I loved this tree because it was part of my childhood, I was almost eight or nine years when I started to climb this tree. The sad thing about it is the that my brother cut it because he was living on the first floor of our building and he want to expand his living space and the only place was is to cut this tree and add a living space. I was really saddened when I heard he cut this fig tree, I loved this tree, it is in the Holley place of Palestine. Sorry to make you sad.

    • @RayMirshahi
      @RayMirshahi Před 24 dny

      @@Sussy-Walter The fig wasp is a specialized wasp that doesn't exist in Northern US and Canada. There are different types of figs (Smyrna, San Pedro, Common, and Capri figs) Smyrna-type figs develop only when they're pollinated. Figs of the White San Pedro type combine the characteristics of both the Smyrna and the Common type on one tree. First-crop figs develop without flower pollination, while second-crop figs require it. Common figs such as Brown Turkey do not need pollination at all. People in Canada and Northern US usually grow common figs. If they grow Smyrna figs, they need to manually pollinate their figs.

    Suggestion. I've done hundreds and hundreds of airlayers in similar pods. Cut them below the pod, above the lower node. Don't open the pod yet ... but take it and soak it in water. That will bind the potting mix to the root. When it is soaked through, open it and the mix will generally stick to the roots. Then pot it up.
