Glad I found your channel... really learning a lot. Thanks!
I am definitely going to get a
Ronde de Bordeaux from your website. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I live near Bristol UK and I have what I believe is called a Brown Turkey fig, it had a breber crop of about 10 very large figs ( 7cm dia X 9cm long ); not much flavour but very thin skin and juicy. Now (strart of July) I await the many more figs of the main crop. The tree is about 5yrs old and this is it"s first big crop.
you will not get the main crop ripen in uk. figs do not like cold nights and begin to shrivel/stop growing. secondly you need the Mediterranean wasp to pollinate the main crop figs. because uk cold whether does not allow these miniature wasps to survive, unless the uk whether conditions change to warmer days, second crop(main) will not flourish.
@@tekinmoustafa8141 you absolutely do NOT need the fig wasp to ripen brown turkey main crop.
Thanks for the video - very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative video, thanks for sharing.
Nice video, like when you keep it simple. ;)
Glad you liked it!
HELLO RK,,,,,,, Ive been watching your videos from the very beginning after I lost my FIG tree planted in 1982 in my front yard here in Texas after a major freeze 2 years ago. Now I am hooked and mainly grow the dark FIGS, I did start the some Cold de dame Blanc, White madeira and Panache recently after watching one of your videos and I agree the VDB, RDB, 258 and Col de Dame Noir and Black Madeira are all awesome figs.......Not sure where in Canada you are, but Ive been to Calgary and Toronto in the winter,,,,,,,,,,,,, I don't have words,,,,,,,,, Siberian Fig Grower?.,,,,,,,,,anyways You are my #1 FIG guy,....thanks for all of your help!......( PS. The Fig tree in the front yard grew back !.) Reshard
Hey thanks for your kind words. By the way I'm in Toronto. I do love everything about this city except for the weather lol
@@RKfigs I love Toronto.... I saw Van Halen, the people are great,,,,,,,it snowed !
Funny! I'm 3 hours north of Chicago, and guess what I have? Hardy Chicago, but I have it in a light fig color. Oh well, I just wanted to make sure I get some this year. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for watching. By the way If it's not a dark fig then it's not Hardy Chicago. Many people get the tags mixed up or sell a fig tree as one variety when it's actually something else. There are over 2000 different varieties of figs out there.
Wow, really? I didn't know that. I bought it from an online tree store, and they sold it as 2 varieties of the same thing. It's OK, the tree is growing very well, so I'm happy.
Could be a Celeste. @@pegschwalbach2500
Great info
I am in zone 5 SW Michigan Berrien county.
I have about 8 Chicago figs I have left out in cut off barrels 2 foot high, had no place to put inside sat out last 2 winters exposed to cold no mulch or anything else.
The shoots that came up last year from roots are about 1 foot tall and they have just broke buds today is May 18 2023
Im in 5 and they broke about the same time. Not sure if ill get mine to ripen in time.
Do you think your favourite figs are ok in the south of the uk in Brighton.
Will RDB do okay in coastal California where the season is much longer?
absolutely.
Quick far fetched question.. would you happen to know the common variety of fig trees that would be grown in Fall River Ma... we have a huge Portuguese community and I'll be getting a tree soon from a friend who does not know the variety we are in zone 6b
No but if you're able to provide me with pictures or even a description I might be able to guess what it would be. Portuguese figs have reputation of being fantastic 😊
Where is the early start link?
Im in zone 7 nj got a rdb cutting last year . It grew 6ft with no fruit .really hoping for some fruit this year although it's been strangely cold this spring

How can I buy a cutting of your favorite Mt Etna type (Holsante Dark)?
Purple fig?
Ronde de Bordeaux
@@RKfigs I have 2 young plants from China.dont the name but the fruit is purple.
@@datugintuong464 there are over 2000 different kinds of purple figs
your product is to pricey , charging too much , dont be too greedy for money , your price is up to neck
How can you be really into figs and not know how to pronounce Ronde de Bordeaux? Don't you listen to Ross, Harvey, Ed Durtschi's content? I thought everyone in Canada learned French in school.
RUDE ! Pro Tip : If you have nothing nice to say ...STFU
