They way this all happened, and bear in mind, I know far too little of how bones are maintained by the body to make a truly informed guess, but it honestly makes me think of microfractures on aircraft frames/wings. I can't help but wonder whether the same thing is happening for these poor folks; a bunch of microscopically tiny faults that just get worse and worse as the bone is repeatedly strained, and eventually, it's just too much to hold together.

The BIG problem is that its voted on by guys that couldnt make their high school baseball team, so they have to write about it.
