I have decided that I probably should've put Seager into the HoF category, but it's too late to change that now!
its ok i forgive you ❤
how this for a video idea..assuming it hasn't been done already.......the all-time worst MLB draft class
You need to move Soler out of meh
@@blossommirage4383 no fk youu and less fk to him
@@atlduvy4580 u need a rapname vwell itsssssss big butthole u fkface
Jorge Solar getting a “meh” is a crime. Bros a World Series MVP come on now
And he led MLB in home runs in 2019 with 48
i am saying... this guy is looking too much into the war stat man he is a damn ws mvp whqt more can you ask for
Okay, but to play DH in today’s game means that you have to be significantly above the average hitter to have any value. Otherwise what is the point in having a player like him? Not saying that I think he’s bad or even meh, but it would make sense if you were to say that. He’s not the type of player you would want to extend to a long contract due to batting average difficulties, so he’s destined to be a journeyman.
I think “meh” is perfect for him, looking at his baseball reference page all of his stats are just above league average (with exception of batting average that’s below average and too many K’s) Which wouldn’t be a problem if DH/ OF wasn’t such a competitive market. I think he’s a perfectly capable Major League Baseball player but not much more. This is coming from a DIE HARD Braves fan btw.
@@longneck6456 But peak Jorge Soler 2019 and 2023 was all Star caliber bat. Carried bad Marlins and Royals lineups in both seasons
Imo, you can’t say Tyler Glasnow is a meh because he can’t stay on the field and then turn around and say Byron Buxton is a hit when he also hasn’t stayed on the field
I haven't gotten to Buxton yet, but yeah I'd say they're both have out of this world potential, but can't stay healthy
Buxton won a platinum glove……
@@andyj8841 yes, the one year he stayed healthy. Outside of that, he hasn’t played over 100 games in any mlb season. Tyler Glasnow pitched a full season as well for comparison
Jorge Soler's 48-homer season is always gonna be the stuff of legends in KC!
He won over a lot of America by being the Astros kryptonite in 2021
Even if people bring up 2019, just a reminder he played a good chunk of those games in Kauffman Stadium so even getting to 48 home runs even taking juice balls into account is still an accomplishment.
Actually mad props for the Yordano Ventura description. Wish he could have blossomed
I appreciate it, it was important to me to convey how big of a character he was in MLB for the few years we got to watch him.
Albert Almora Jr tagging up from first in game 7 of the World Series is an often overlooked part of that Cubs win, couldn’t have done it without him, and he’ll forever be remembered in Chicago
He seems like such a great guy, too.
He's on the D'Backs Triple a team now
Soler a meh and JBJ a hit? Soler is an all star, WS MVP, and has a 48 home run szn under his belt lol smh
in 2019...............
@@joeducker8543 it really don't matter, he had 36 last year and played 30 less games than '19, he's got serious pop

12:50 All of a sudden, I have so much respect for Kyle Crick.
W
How did this not get more coverage before Crick was describing like an ass because of the Amir Garrett fight but bro was a hero
I completely forgot about Addison Russell. He was so good on that championship cubs team his decline was so rapid and surprising. But it is hard to not call Javy Baez a meh. He was always a streaky hitter and that dropoff was HARD. It was always surprising the Tigers gave him so much money.
Javy produced so well, especially as a defender, for a solid half decade. His decline makes it a little difficult to see, but he’s gotta be a hit imo.
It came out he was beating his wife around the time Covid hit they easily just got rid of him.
Russell also beat his ol lady
He was a key part of the cubs wining the world series. He's a hit for that alone. Everything the cubs did to win that world series was worth it.
Javy Baez was one of the best hitters in the game in 2018-19 and was good from his start in 2015-2019 with the cubs. Most of the meh stuff was after his success with the cubs
It seems everybody on this list has been on the cubs before😂
I was gonna add a line about that, if Alfaro made the Cubs this year he would’ve been like the 8th guy in a row on the list to play for them or something like that
I noticed that too
It's because the Cubs drafting and farm system is elite
Syndergaard’s regression is so sad, that man SHOVED in a way that was so dominant and overpowering.
The fact that a man got suspended for 100 games for pot and a guy beat his wife and they suspended him for 40 is crazy
Absurd
put some respect on Mark Appel. Dude battled hard to get his stuff on track, and then quit baseball because he never thought he’d make it. Went to philly, found his love for the game, and made it to the show. Didn’t have the career he wanted, but at least he made it where he thought he wouldn’t.
Still a bust
man as a royals fan Ventura still hurts when brought up so tragic
Not being one of those people being nostalgic because he passed but he was truly one of my favorite all time to watch he was so fun but so competitive at the same time really was great at antagonizing batters definitely hurts we didn’t get to see his prime
Meh for soler is kinda crazy it’s not like he was a top ten prospect he was 49 and he lived up to the slugger role he was supposed to be. Still tho love the content
I just don’t think he’s been healthy and productive during enough seasons at this point. Will keep producing in the future tho
@@AndThatsBaseball It's borderline but I think a guy like Soler who will have a decade+ major league career as a power hitter is a pretty realistic outcome for a 49th overall prospect. WAR is always gonna be unfavorable to that archetype but given he'll likely end up over 200+ career home runs I think that's a hit especially given his playoff contributions and high end seasons
@@brendanjobe9772alot of these "new" baseball guys cannot quantify good baseball without war, defense without drs, slugging without ops+
4:40 giving up a homer to Jeff Mathias is absolutely brutal that sucks
@@glib683neither of the people in that screen shot are Ryan braun
I remember that Almora clip, that alone makes the case for the safety nets along the foul lines now. I think the safety they add far outweighs any detraction that comes from catching less foul balls.
Regardless Soler is an everyday starter so I'd call that a success regardless of how good he is. A majority of players signed don't even touch the MLB.
big ups kid, much love
I was at Singleton's return to Houston. They put a note in the bottom right of the scoreboard showing how long it had been sonce a home run, and congratulating him. With Jose Abreu not performing like Jose Abreu. Jon Singleton has his chance and so far us doing excellent. At home, he's batting exactly 300. With 6 hits in 20 plate appearances. Half of those hits have been fir a home run. Im so happy to see more Homerton bat flips.
I may have listed him as a bust, but he has HoF bat flips
@@AndThatsBaseball Singleton has a swing that makes his bat flips so natural and quick. Most players known for bat flips have one, albeit iconic one (think Bautista Game 5 2015 ALDS or Yordan Game 1 2022 ALDS) but in terms of consistency Singleton might be top 3.
@@AndThatsBaseball he's been serviceable and can hit indeed the turn around if he can be the yuli type of player for team of being clutch that can be Great really want singleton to succeed he deserves it tbh.. though I wonder what will happen with Jose abreu and singleton I don't want singleton gone nor abreu
Gausman's time in baltimore is around the same time Arrieta went to the Cubs and turned into God himself. The Orioles just didnt know how to make good pitchers at the time. The best pitcher they could produce in that time was Chris Tillman and granted Tillman had some really solid seasons including 1 sub 3, no one feared him.
Could’ve had Arrieta and Gausman shoving with peak Britton closing. Mid 2010s orioles teams would’ve been loaded.
@AndThatsBaseball that's right! I forgot Britton was their closer. Well at least they got 1 guy right.
Erik bedard was legitimately great there....and rich hill was there around that era..he's still around if that counts😂

Love the video!! I respect your opinion but have to heavily disagree on Glasnow. I understand eating innings is huge, but I also believe there’s something to be said about what he does when he is healthy, and what he does is get people out.
Definitely love videos like this and would love to see more!
That’s fair. Like I said, if he has just one fully healthy year, he’s easily a hit. It’s just really concerning that he’s literally never done that.
Dude never plays
"I found out I'm still paying for a car sharing service that I haven't used since my freshman year of college" says the guy who looks like a high school junior.
J/k mate, awesome vid!
We can still trade Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar for David Bednar and Ke’Bryn Hayes
Mondesi was an absolute menace in MLB The Show!!!
Still is
Really appreciate this video. I have a habit of looking up past prospect rankings, and seeing how they turned out when I have nothing better to do😂
So do I, and now I've found a way to monetize that hobby!
@@AndThatsBaseball Well, you have a new guaranteed viewer if you keep doing it!😂 Great stuff man! Wish Maikel Franco didn’t flunk out

Please please do more of these! Great work!
Glasnow as a meh is criminal. I dont like the guy but he’s on of the best pitchers in the league regardless of injuries
And Sydergaard is a hit…
I’m not even going to lie, I was SHOCKED to see it wasn’t Baez on that OPS list. I was already telling my friends it was going to be him 😂😂😂
17:26 Franco was my favorite philly as a kid that’s how bad it got
He could’ve been special
I really thought he was going to be a future 3rd,, not the biggest Alec bohm fan but it went from Scotty R to him that's how long it took us to replace the Hot corner not even a world series era did it
The Pokémon music in the back is soo damn nostalgic
I find myself using more and more pokemon, mario, donkey kong, etc music. It's so atmospheric, love it so much
@AndThatsBaseball it's soo comforting. Preciate the lil nuances you put into the vids
Just a day late with Holliday making the O’s LOL
Brutal timing 😂😂
Idk if you can call a guy that had an ERA+ of 140 from 2015-2018 a bust. Like I get it, he was drafted as a starter and didn't really pan out, and his career had a steep decline, but I would argue the Cubs got more than enough out of him during that 2015-2018 stretch. Obviously taking a whole career into account, maybe I agree with you, but if we're judging him strictly as a reliever and from what the Cubs got out of him, I believe they would say they hit on Carl Edwards Jr. From 2017-2018 alone he had an ERA+ of 153, with 118.1 innings combined over the two seasons. Great video and definitely enjoy the content, we may just have different criteria for what a bust is. You don't necessarily need to have extreme career longevity, especially for relievers, I believe a 3-4 year stretch of great pitching is more than enough to say he was at least meh.
I get what you’re saying, but short term productive relievers aren’t too hard to come by. Edwards Jr. was supposed to be a starter when he was ranked here, so the fact that he was a reliever is already falling below expectations. I personally don’t think he was great for long enough out of the pen to overcome that.
@@AndThatsBaseball that’s fair too. It’s all in what you value I guess.
I don't hit the like button on many videos. You earned the click for this one.
(Watched this at work and rewatching at home on my account)
Love this channel
"Since joining the Tigers, has cut down on strikeouts."
I must be hallucinating baseball, because Baez strikes out so much he'd strike out on an int walk if int walks still required pitch outs. The dude swings and misses at pitches that are literally in the opposite batter's box. There's no reason to even throw him a strike.
He's on pace for like 35 walks this season
22:38 Man I did not want to remember this
I'm a Cubs fan and we owe this guy for being a big part of the WS win. But you have to be devastated for this guy. That destroyed the man.
You know, this is some good quality content.
I appreciate it!
Please make more of these!
Soler hit 48 HR in 2019 and won a World Series MVP for the Braves in 2021, neither of which were mentioned…wtf?
As a Cubs fan I was a really big Addison Russell fan during 15-16 I miss the old Cubs roster. I looked up to everyone of them. Baéz Bryant Happ Ross Russell Arietta Rizzo and Contreras. That roster was special we hope we make one again
Bros needs to do more of these
I remember watching Lindor in Triple A. I thought he was one of the best players Ive ever seen in the minors. Him and Desmond Jennings were monsters in the Minors. Glad to see Lindor has kept his level of play at the majors
Mets fans wouldn't call d'Arnoud a bust, because we've seen him way too much as a Brave. (Though he was a bust probably in his Mets tenure)
great video
appreciate you going into the stories of these guys and not just calling them "busts"
Babe wake up new ‘And That’s Baseball’ just dropped. And almost 40 minutes? Chills
Joc had tons of potential. 30/30 guy in AAA and was an overall elite athlete (WR1 over Davante Adams in HS!). Unfortunately he found out he loves food a little too much which is why he’s now a RHP only DH.
Feel like the ratings could be adjusted a bit. Maybe something like All-Star > Regular > Backup > Bust
So you’re just not going to talk about Syndergaard’s hitting prowess
Great video! Love this kind of content
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
the mario super sluggers music is throwing me off 😂😂😂 love it tho
Putting Tyler Glasgow in meh and javi Baez in hit is a crime, I think my guy was on something today
Great video, I think the grading system presents an interesting question on which kind of careers you would take from a prospect. The Blue Jays would probably take the career of Aaron Sanchez, who was a very good starter for them during their contending years in 15-16 over someone like Heaney who has made a longer career but hasn't had Sanchez's peaks. Both are "Mehs" though
Yeah, that’s why it’s so up for interpretation. Interesting to think about each case individually beyond just overall numbers.
6:33 I've always felt bad for Carl Edwards Jr since he was pulled from the mound in the 10th inning of Game 7 - he had the opportunity to be immortalized by throwing the last pitch of the Cubs' worlds series. Good to see he had some metrics of success, though
As a person from 2024 Jon singleton is definitely hall of fame level
Tyler Glasnow in “Meh” might just be the worst sports take I’ve ever seen
Please do more of these
as a Red Sox fan, happy to see jbj getting some recognition. Always fun to watch
Edit: It's such a shame the Sox traded bogie. The devers/bogarts infield was great
Stole too many hits from my Yankees over the years to not get acknowledged
Love Albert almora that broke my heart all over
Anyone realize how many pitchers came up with the pirates in the mid 2010s and were mid then went somewhere else and became amazing
Dude put Lindor over Seager for a few games a season. LOL! Seager has 2 WS MVPs.
Shouldn't even really be a meh category. A lot of these meh guys are consistent MLB players who are still doing it, and that alone is a huge hit when it comes to any prospect. Thats all you can hope for.
Lindor getting the HOF badge over everyone else is crazy. I’ll take Seager, and Xander over him for the hall. Both have won it all, Cory being a two time WSMVP. Xander is always in contention for a SS and batting title. Lindor is great, but without the accolades he’s not sniffing the hall imo. Especially since the Mets won’t do anything after October for a few more years.
They all should’ve have gotten the HOF badge, apart from a World Series MVP lindor isn’t missing any accolades at all. 4 all star games, 2 gold gloves and 3 silver sluggers and he’s been decent in the postseason. If the hall was only for ws champs and mvp it would be a pretty empty hall
Team award doesnt=Hof dipshit
lmfao
Baseball isn't like some other sports... you don't need championships or MVPs to be a part of a Hall of Fame conversation, you just need to be consistently good. But even if you wanted to consider that, Lindor's 2016 postseason was awesome (he hit .370 in the ALCS and .300 in the World Series) and Cleveland lost the World Series in extra-innings of Game 7 because they had no pitching, so it wasn't his fault. He's finished Top-10 in MVP voting 5 times (3 times in the AL, 2 times in the NL), doing so while playing one of the most important positions on the field at a Gold Glove level and switch-hitting. In fact, you could argue he's the greatest switch-hitting SS in MLB history. As long as he has a healthy 3-4 more seasons at his usual numbers, he's an easy HOF choice.
Lindor is definitely over Bogaerts what
Definitely a Mets fan!
That's World Series MVP Jorge Soler to you
please do another video like this it so good
Might have to do every 2014 first round draft pick in July 🤔
Early in the video, but is the blurred out name in Jackie Bradley Jr’s segment also in the list?
Edit: I see what you did now, also OPS+ under 50 is worse than some seasons Neifi Perez had I think.
“Despite having 4, the Pirates had 0 hits.”
Says it all about that organization. Either their player development system/major league coaching staff screws up the players or their prospects are all hype and no substance. It’s so much FUN being a Pirates fan the last 32 years…
Re: Gregory Polanco, that .762 OPS doesn't sound "pretty successful" from the jump but NPB's ball has been dead since around 2021. Polanco's 26 HR in 2023 were tied with Kensuke Kondoh and Hideto Asamura for most in the Pacific League, and he did it in 125 games, 18 fewer than either of his competition.
Singleton's return is facilitated by Abreu's own FA bust in Houston.
In 2014, it wouldn’t have been crazy to say that Jon Singleton would be better than Jose Abreu in 2024.
But saying that from 2015-2023 would get you laughed out of the room.
@@AndThatsBaseball No doubt. Thanks for the segment. That had to have been a lot of work. 👍

The GTAV intro song bumping at 11:28 sent a shot of nostalgia right into my veins
Lmao what’s the name of the song for Billy Hamilton? Great vibe
It’s unfair to not mention all the terrible injuries Polanco suffered. He had a cannon for an arm and then had a bunch of shoulder injuries and just couldn’t throw anymore

No way Austin Hedges is a bust! One of the best defensive catchers in baseball for a decade. That’s what’s made him a good prospect, that’s what’s made him a good ballplayer.
Man... I will never forget that slow grounder to Bryant to finish that World Series. still crazy how much he has dropped off. (but you can say that about that entire 2016 team except Schwarber and Rizzo
29:00 This man really was the one who jinxed Lindor
If Billy Hamilton played the Pirates every game, he'd be a first ballot HOFer. Dude was a menace against Pittsburgh
It’s a completely different world than 2014 as far as prospect go.
Everything prospects is different. How good the actual prospects are, the rankings, the amount of rankings and people involved(prospects is big business now).
How important prospects are to a franchise is even different and they are more coveted and thought of more highly(smaller market teams spend more of development than payroll now).
And as early as 2019 everything has changed as far as the quality of the prospects. Ever since the pandemic the quality of the baseball athlete has completely changed.
Look at College Baseball and the Prep players now. It has never been this talent laden(especially the pitching).
And like I said, it all changed during the pandemic. Athletes(at least in baseball) all got their sh*t together and found all those outside baseball physicality where they are getting stronger, faster and smarter(with all the data).
And in turn everything has changed as far as the quality of prospects. And like I said, prospects is also big business now too(baseball is catching on with the Spring breakout game). The NFL draft has already been big business for the NFL for years and now MLB is catching on.
The amount of people involved in prospects now compared to 2014 is substantial. And that’s not even mentioning Fantasy and Dynasty baseball.
Everything has changed!!
It’s so different. So much more data, a massive leap in talent evaluation and development. Idk how much more there is to uncover when it comes to maximizing player ability at this point.
16:32 Sounds like Glasnow has a glass arm. I'll see myself out.
I think Polanco at a Bust is wild. But I have Pirates Bias.
Lindors defense declining is crazy other than that good list
"Evaluating minor leaguers based on ERA is a mistake" now I am curious - how do you evaluate minor leaguers? Genuine question
Minor leagues tend to have very unique run environments depending on the league, so I’d prefer to look at pitch velo and movement, K%, and BB%
Jeez the Cubs had every single guy on this list at some point
Getting suspended for smoking weed is such bullshit
You’re allowed to drink but can’t sit back and enjoy a doobie? Wild as fuck to me
I’m pretty sure they don’t test for it anymore thankfully. Still crazy that Singleton got screwed like that as recently as 2018 tho
There is no chance you called Gary Sanchez an above average catcher lol

Imagine you train for 20 years and make it to the big leagues just for some kid whose balls havent dropped to call you a bust after talking about your stats for 15 seconds
