- Robinson Cano was a lock for the MLB Hall of Fame before everything fell apart. This video is about his meteoric rise with the Yankees, continued greatness with the Mariners, and tragic fall with the Mets. Oh, and don't forget Spongebob jerseys in El Paso.

Really underrated channel. Can see this channel really blowing up in the near future
Nice editing at 9 minutes. The transition from stickball to home run, and the next home run with the beat of the music.
@@lowrollerscraps2477 that edit was Baseball Historian, him and SportStorm both contributed to this vid. I’m glad you liked it!
@@AndThatsBaseball was Robinson Cano a SpongeBob fan?
@@pikachuhutch234 gonna have to ask him. I’m sure he’d love Band Geeks
Truly sad. As a Yankees fan I LOVED Robbie Cano, especially since he was a new spark on that aging team. It’s upsetting how he fumbled all of that…and for what reason? He’d have gone down as the best 2nd baseman of his generation without juicing. Great vid man. Keep it up.
I think him not being able to take the Mariners to the playoffs, coupled with 3000 hits on the horizon, added a ton of pressure for him. He probably knew he was declining, but wanted to live up to his contract. I’m glad you liked the vid, thanks for supporting the channel!
The contracts he got to sign are worth more than getting in the Hof...can't feed your family with a Hof plaque.
@@12savage68 Cano got caught the first time in 2018. Which was about five years after he signed a quarter of a billion dollar contract. I'm sure his family was really struggling for cash lol
@@EquaYonah keywords: got caught....in a sport we're juicing can potentially take you from fringe all-star to goat status ,you'd be a damned fool not to do it.
As a Yankee fan I couldn't have said it better man. Loved the dude and was such a stud when he came up.
Dude, as a fellow DOMINICAN you don't know how proud i was. This guy could've been amongst the greatest yankees in history, hell after we won the world series in 09 i thought that it was the beginning of a dynasty and his rise to yankee immortality into monument park.
100% fast forward a decade later and it’s just disappointing to see what happened.
You Dominicans should be used to all the cheating. That’s all you guys know how to do. 🤷🏿♂️
@@ItzTruthHurts lol... sounds like someone is mad about not knowing greatness. Yea unfortunately some of our players have used illegal substances like many other players, and yet we got people like PEDRO MARTINEZ who was the greatest pitcher in the steroid era. As well as PUJOLS one of the greatest of all time sooooo 🤷🏽♂️

Don Mattingly was basically my favorite player as a kid and I saw Cano as the second coming of Mattingly. Hit the ball with authority wherever it was pitched, sprayed the ball around, had plenty of power but wasn't a power hitter, and of course, just flawless in the field. Smooth and just preternaturally confident out there.
It was incredible to watch him develop and blossom. One of the sweetest swings you'll ever see. And those hands. My God, what quick hands.
And he was one of the best defensive players I've ever seen. If the ball was hit anywhere even remotely in his vicinity he was going to convert it to an out. So smooth and so reliable.
God that man could play baseball.
I'm happy I was part of this. The vid turned out great!
Thanks for the help, it wouldn’t have been possible without u!
I love this collaboration 💪
As a lifelong Yankees fan, Donnie Baseball and Robinson Cano had the sweetest swings I've ever seen.
I mean zero disrespect but you MUST include Will Clark in this list. I know they werent on your team but that left handed swing was MAGIC.
Huge Mariners fan, watching him and Nellie was so electric and a nice change of pace from some of the listless teams I cheered on (was born in ‘99, was barely old enough to remember the Bedard trade, kill me please) and it was heartbreaking to see his decline. Always thankful that I got to see that sweet swing in person.
He’s still my favorite 2nd baseman ever, he was an absolute gem in his prime
Robinson Cano made me fall in love with the game of baseball, and it’s sad to see his career go that way :(
the cano era for the mariners was the most significant throughout my childhood. But there were at least three or four different instances which lead me to believe robinson cano hated me. once i was at spring training with a friend and he signed an autograph for every kid but me, once he was throwing balls into the stands, looked right at me, then moved away, and again i was just next to someone who got his signature. of course, i know this has nothing to do with me, and yet i cant shake the feeling that this pro baseball player hated the 12 year old version of me.
You're weird bro. When I was a kid I never cared about people signing something for me.
One of the sadder stories about a generational talent in my opinion. I can only imagine the pressure he felt to maintain excellence into his older age with milestones on the horizon and a big contract to live up to.
100%
Poor him
He and Melky were likely juicing for years. This Yankee fangirl forgot to mention Melky pissing hot in 2012 with the Giants. Those two were inseparable at one point
No doubt he took ped's not for performance but because his body was breaking down.
@@bobsanders3063 how is that not still taking PED's for performance? He's doing it to "perform" at a level his body can no longer handle. Are you saying that doing that is somehow less wrong than taking them in his prime? It's cheating either way, there's really no difference.

Just love the word smooth when describing robbie. Dude had it all and when he was on the padres this year I was pumped. And we know how that worked out
I’ve never someone look so cool and relaxed while playing this game. Nothing phased him on the field.
I love Robbie and my pads but I was not expecting us to be the team to turn him around. Thought if anything he’d move up the five and click again.
One thing I want to point out is the excellent musical choices you used in the different chapters of the video.
as always good stuff
I was dodging claims like Ali but I think it was worth it
I agree, definitely worth it
The music was annoying
I loved when you talked about the Josh Hamilton comparison. Hamilton was my favorite player as a kid, and this gave me SO MUCH nostalgia. I was there when the Rangers beat the Yanks in game 6, and I’ll never forget that moment.
In my opinion, one of the most entertaining baseball players ever. So sad to not see him join other dominican heroes in cooperstown.
Smoothest player of this generation
The Cano Jeter long toss omg bringing back great memories. Keep up the great videos champ!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Now my favorite baseball channel. Thank you for the hard work, cheers 🍻🍻
Glad you enjoyed?
1 of my favorite players all time. Extremely sad to see him go down that way. Still a World Champion tho!
Your passion comes thru the screen bro. Amazing work. Keep it up.
Im a mariners fan who got into baseball because of the 2015 mariners when they were down 12-2 against the padres they won and cano became my favorite player and it hurt me when he got busted twice for PED
Just randomly came across this video and gotta give you kudos. Very well done and I had to watch the whole thing. Baseball = Life
Glad you enjoyed!
As a die hard Yankee fan born in 94, and as a second baseman myself, Cano was my baseball idol. So sad to think about his career.
This video was awesome!! Keep up the good work!!
what an amazing video really excited to see this channel grow
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
That November 4th game in 2009. That was my 21st birthday. I remember having a beer of my grandpa. We hugged and just smiled and happiness. Always remember that day. rip gpa.
As a kid I was a 3rd baseman and I always tried to imitate Jeter's fielding and a combination of Arod and Cano's swing. I remember being always glued to ESPN watching them break down each swing so I could then try it at practice.
I just found your channel today and already watched 3 videos Great Stuff
Glad you enjoy the vids!
Really solid video; I’m a lifelong Yankees fan and Cano has always been one of my personal favorite players since he came up. To be honest, I watched Cano for years in New York and the way he made certain difficult plays seem so nonchalant and easy was amazing to see and he’s a HOF player in my mind regardless of the failed PED tests. The man was a fantastic baseball player who -for a few years- was a Top 10 player in the game, in my opinion. Fantastic defensive player with a really solid arm and his swing became taylor made for the new Yankee Stadium. He was one of my favorite players to watch for years and I was really ticked off when the Yankees didn’t resign him; but I didn’t blame him at all for taking the extra money. Sadly, I knew going to Seattle and signing a 10 year contract there was going to end badly for him & his career (he should have just stayed with the Yankees but Arods contract situation made them gun shy-reasonably so-to sign another 30 year old player to such a long deal). Great player and a HOF player regardless of the fact that the last few years of his career have been very forgettable. Still wear my Robby Cano Yankees shirt with pride!!
Love the video. Don’t even watch baseball, but you make it so interesting and engaging. Keep up the great work!
I highly recommend you watch some playoff baseball this month, it’s really such an exciting time. Glad you enjoyed the vid!

Awesome production value on this!

Channel is way underrated bro! For someone of your age putting out this kind of quality documentary style video. Hat off to you man. I remeber growing up watching Cano rise up to be one of the key Yankees on the roster. Truly were some great times!
Thanks man! It was fun to examine a player that brought me so many great memories growing up
Well, I would say his documentaries aren't that great, tho not bad. He talks faster than he thinks is one criticism, biased reporting is another.
I got to watch an April game in the House that Ruth Built in 2008. I got to watch the Core Four play, and I remember watching them along with Robbie and A Rod constantly. So much I don’t really remember who we actually played, I kept my eyes glued to those 6 whenever they were on the field.
robbie was my favorite player for a decent stretch, i even used his spalding glove throughout high school and my one year playing in college. sad to see how he went out, still one of the smoothest players to ever touch the field, bat or glove.
Playing 2B, we called the glove side spin and throw the Cano. I wanted to look like him fielding grounders
Nice vid - I dig your style - props
Wow, this was my guy too. First game was 2006 & i was also there at the final game at Yankee stadium. Glad i found this channel.
Legendary. Career and video. Subscribed.
First of all great vid. This vid has come up on my feed before, and as a dominican 🇩🇴 and a Robie fan, it pains me just to see it. I still remember seatin at a car dealership waiting for an oil change when I saw the news on my phone. My son (12 at the time and still wears #22) I just handed him the phone... I just couldn't even tell him that Robie texted +. It still hurts. He was my fav player after Pedro Martinez.
Great commentary, keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed!
Keep making these videos, very entertaining man
Glad you enjoyed!
Man, as a Mariners fan, his signing was a double edged sword. The 2016 Mariners deserved to reach the playoffs, they could mash but just fumbled games in critical times. The 5 years we had Cano, he was great and the fan base was expecting a slow decline in his remaining years. It ended worse for him and it was such a huge hit having to sacrifice Diaz to get out from under most of his remaining contract where if we didn't have him bleeding the cash and still had Diaz as he was and is, we could have got an absolute haul for him if he still needed to be traded. It really set our team back and I'm glad Jerry is using that experience now and not going crazy, knowing it's likely the back end of these monster contracts become a cancer.
As a die-hard Mets fan, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the gift of Sugar.
@Sparky Shore He's a gift to baseball itself. When he came up, I hadn't seen a pitcher since maybe Chapman with such a dominant fastball where even Mike Trout was trying to catch up. Sometimes he just doesn't have the command, but when he's on, it's something else. Most mariners fans realize we probably would have had to trade him with or without Cano, if the Mets still wanted him then it probably would've been the biggest haul seen for a reliever.
Awesome video, thanks
From what I remember, he never liked being called "Robbie" because it took away from being named after Jackie Robinson.
Respect to that (I apologize for calling him Robbie)
@@AndThatsBaseballDidn't know this...

Man, Josh Hamilton was a ton of fun to watch…was lucky to see him live a few times as a kid.
Shame he turned out to be an abusive piece of shit. Not even a Rangers fan, but I always loved watching highlights of him as a kid.
Arguably the best 3rd baseman in the Bigs2, that game made him one of my favorites although I’m a stros fan lol
Love how you did this vid!!!!

Great vid ! As a Dominican and Yankee fan he was definitely one of my idols
2009 was a magical year to be a Yankees fan
That DR independence song was a nice touch. Overall a great video!
i loved this video cano was by far my favorite player as a kid i remember him breaking into the league and was devestated when he went to seattle and i also didnt believe it when he first tested positive. he will always be my favorite player but sad to see how it ended
Great video just subscribed 💯💯💪🏾

This is why this channel is about to become my top Yankees and just baseball channel overall, but i fell the same way about some of these players like Cano no matter what mistakes they made they still human being just trying to be they best.

This was really good.
Great narrative! This channel is going places!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
You know you love playing baseball when your willing to ground out minor league games in el paso. And can we revisit this PEDs means no half of fame stuff? I disagree with that mentality. PEDs enhance your natural ability, and if everyone is using, the playing field is level.
Even though it enhances there stats, they are executing there performance, they still have to practice their swing, there fielding, maintain there fitness etc. Im fine with letting them in with an asterisk noting their ped test history.
@@Derekwwest I'm not saying I disagree, but I don't think the Hall of Fame voters will ever see it that way. Maybe in the future, but I'm not sure.
This video was great man

Very well made and interesting video
I fell in love with baseball back in 81. I could talk about the game 24/7
I felt that when you said your dad pointed out him and jeter playing long toss bc EVERYTIME we went my dad did the same haha great memory
Can’t wait for part II that chronicles his rise and fall in Atlanta.
That one is only 24 seconds long
Hey great video! Loved watching him and his buttery swing so much. These other guys in the comments are putting it a little too harshly, while the talking might be fast it wasn't so bad you had to turn it off, though pacing as a whole was a bit fast. People can't expect perfection from someone who's only been doing this for a year now. If you see this, know that I loved the vid, and I'm excited to see your growth in the future 🥂
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video man, Cano was one of my favorite players because of the swing until he got caught with PEDS and his value and reputation went down hill. Loved the old skool J Cole music montage! 💯
Glad you enjoyed! The music vid was made by my friend Baseball Historian so make sure to check out his channel too!
Guy just couldn't handle aging.
That's the great tragedy of all athletes. Being a top level player is part of Cano's identity, it's not just about pride or numbers or money. Losing that ability can be losing who you think you are.
Excellent job 👌
Glad you enjoyed!
Music selection also perfect.
As a cubs fan, who is 30 years old and also fell in love with baseball around 2003, so just about 3-4 years before you, and stayed that way since, I thought Robbie was and still is the shit. One of the best 2nd basemen behind grace and chase and sanberg, and I learned about his decline more, unfortunately. Great video.
Im a Mets fan and I love Cano. Not for his time with the Mets but for his time with the Yanks. I know how odd that sounds but I only hate teams in the NL East. What he did for the city of New York should never be forgotten.
man! good job here bro! you forced my hand to subscribe.
Glad to have you!
That was the best transition i have ever seen
You deserve way more views for this god damn
I think so too lmao
Cano was my favorite Yankee as a kid, and seeing where he's wound up today makes me so sad.
The Dias horns when talking about the trade is a nice touch
Narco is the best relief entry song since Enter Sandman
As a Mariner fan who was over the moon when he signed with us, and who ate up his buttery swing and a few plus years of dependable play, I will always remember him as the player who abandoned the team when we needed him most. We had a dog in that fight that year. His first suspension could not have come at a worse time. One of Jerry Dipoto's best moves- was finding a way to get out from under that massive contract. That move alone has helped us move to the next era so much sooner than later... Even if Kelenic doesn't pan out and even though I loved Diaz dearly- all worth it.
I don’t even really like baseball that much, but this video was so well made!
Glad you enjoyed! I recommend you watch some playoff baseball this month, some of those games get absolutely electric
The background music on this is super cool to hear.
Great vid. Even as a Mets fan, you had to respect Robinson Cano in his heyday with the Yankees.
Another sign of Cano’s fall from grace; when he signed with the Mets, they gave him #24, which had been out of circulation since Willie Mays retired in 1973. After he was released, the Mets announced they were retiring 24 for Mays. I do not think that is a coincidence.
Addendum: I looked it up. Rickey Henderson wore 24 when he was with the Mets in 1999-2000. Also Kelvin Torve, some random guy who played 30 games in 1990.
Also, Joan Payson, owner of the Mets at the time, had always intended to retire 24 for Mays, but she died before he retired.
Ik this video came out 6 months ago but it’s excellent good job
Glad you enjoyed!
as a yankee fan cano was like a light at the end of the tunnel, think mattingly during the awful 80s and early 90s, was a joy to watch, when he decided it was seattle it was like "hate to lose him but he got the bag." then watching him get suspended, not once but twice, going to the minors trying to recapture the fomrer glory it was almost sad, like watching a boxer who is punch drunk taking fight after fight looking for that one final chance at glory.
That's 2 Time World Series Champ and forever Giant Joaquín Arias to you. (Plus a nice play on the last out of a perfect game)
Lmao I knew some Giants fans would get me for this
Just wrapped up the 2nd video of yours I've watched. Put together very well. As much as I appreciate your choice of music used in this video in the future please dont put in copyright music so that you can make your money! Looking forward to more videos
Oh don’t worry about me making money, I know what I’m doing. Glad you enjoyed, though!
Watching this video the day before of achieving my dream of watching Robinson Cano play un person, albeit not in MLB but in the Serie del Caribe playing for the Tigres del Licey ( Sort of the World Series of the Caribbean Winter League's World Series but with multiple teams)
Well done
thats cool you had a player like Cano to look up to while you were in little league.... personally, i had Ken Griffey Jr to look up to. I was fortunate to have a front seat to his best seasons growing up in the Seattle area.
One of the best swings in the game. Loved Robbie Cano made me want to be a second baseman.
The whole time I was in little league I always thought what would cano do for every play
I was a big a rod and jeter fan and It wasn’t until him and his dad won the derby that I started really liking this guy and realized he’s now the best player on the Yankees. Hope you figure things out Robbie and can go out on top!
The HRD was special man
Was not expecting the fan cam in the middle of this lmao
Great vid man

He was my 2nd favorite Yankee after Jeter growing up. Such a shame.

I’ll never get over that swing
Watched Cano in Seattle, 100% agree he had a beautiful smooth swing and was equally as smooth at second base. Sad his image has been tarnished as he’s a tremendously talented player. I’m of the opinion PED’s are still rampant in all of the major sports, just some players are smarter than others in terms of not getting caught
I don’t think it’s close to as bad as the 90s, but there’s probably a solid chunk of guys flying under the radar now
