Bread dough, a crème fraîche-based cream, bacon and onions - that's all you need to make THE national dish - alongside the sauerkraut platter - of Alsace, France. Okay, actually a wood-fired oven is also essential, as this is the only way to give the tarte flambée - aka German pizza, Flammekueche, or Flammkuchen - its typical crust. Even if there are variations with Munster cheese, mushrooms or...

Turkey: We invented the Doner! Greece: Ctrl c + v, change the name
Isn't that pagan 🗿 cannibalism ?
schön das DW es ein wenig wie NHK macht und einen einblick in die kultur gibt. den wir so nichtmal selbst hätten :)
Waste of time. They don't even talk about what the final product tasted like.
Did I hear/get it correct? During the asparagus season (3 months) Germans eat an average of around 1.4 kg per person? The whole season? LOL! I usually eat at least 1/2 kg asparagus per meal! And I have many asparagus meals during the season.
Crab fishers didn't catch much this year I've heard. 15 euros per roll.
Look the kyrillic in Greece Greece also Slavic people the old Greeks The new Greeks are Arabs persians
I thought it was made of collected dead skin cells compressed
Turkish food is much better! Almanya bizi kıskanıyor
who else read that as communism bread?
Ruhrpott>Berlin
For being the DW you could've spelled the Pretzel as Brezel please 😉
Nice vid ❤.. Unfortunately the cost of souvlaki the last 2years almost doubled (from 2e to 3.50 at least)..So it's not for every Greek anymore...(As everything in the corrupted Greece, but that hurt us a lot 😢)..
That's not Currywurst that is Sausage and Ketchup. The real deal is only found outside of Berlin and is made with selfmade CURRYsauce.
No butter gang.. but add some grated cheddar cheese taste amazing y know 🤤🤤🤤

This is actually Turkish. Georgians have been conquered by Turkic Mongols hundreds of years ago and so they have Turkic influence
Italian pizza is not original pizza.
Ceylon Tea , world's best tea from the little island Sri Lanka
Don't tell people from Thessalonica about this video lmao (They get mad at Athenians when you call gyros, souvlaki)
The potatoes they use are called "bintje" or something like that. They are similar to Yukon Gold but hard to find in North America. Russets have more starch content and Yukon Gold have less potato flavor, if that makes sense.
Sad to learn it;s not vegan.
Does it taste like Asian Fish Sauce
All of those dishes are completly overrated
Bakery? You mean its not the bones of Jesus?
Sourdough bread. Grass fed butter. Chopped chives. Under cover culinary taste bud and consistency revelation. Frankfurt cider. Swabian spätzle. 1001 sausage and paté recipes. I can’t understand why I’m fat.
I will say that Carrot Soup is a dish I adored in Germany but isn't well known in the US. And Schwartzwaldtoete. Fun fact: soft pretzels are popular in my area, though they're more elongated usually. I also don't live too far away from where hard pretzels were created.
They have a version of the classic one at Trader Joe's, it's delicious but I'm sure the original is far superior.
Technically it is not “no- bake” since the biscuits need to be baked before the cake can be made.
This first person perspective from a fish about to be eaten is unsettling
This guy looks like a cross between Gordon Ramsay and David Lynch

Is the reporter a Catholic ? She acts like she knows nothing but then take the holy communion and eats it which is not allowed for non Catholics
I thought they were something different from argentinian milanesas, but they look the same 😘
02:20 it's plastic wrap/ film not aluminum foil ;) but pan is... we need to be korrekt here! ;)
Alles sieht so gut aus 💗
You think that's God's plan⁉️🤣
Lovely, but German food has a destain for green vegetables.🙂 I'm not a vegetarian, but it's ridiculous to go to a beer garden in 2024 and not see a vegetable onsite. 🤷🏻
Casually watching this from my couch in Germany while eating pizza
Why would this be a better steak than anything else out there? It’s just a thick T-bone steak, that’s all. You can get that everywhere. The only particular thing is the fact that it’s entirely cooked over the fire, which is what gives it a distinctive flavor. Again, anyone can cook any cut of meat over a fire, nothing special here.
Wow
Non-brewed condiment was produced in the war and is still the only vinegar to use.
I did not know margarine was standard
It's not... Traditional croissants are made with unsalted butter, only commercial croissants are made with margarine.
@@Ralf-tt5ji Oh ok, I understand now. He was talking about the commercial, mass-produced croissant. Thank you for clearing that up.
My grandma is from England she always told they had the best fish and chips!
my grandmother was from brussels. she had a french fry stand in revere beach during the 20's? 30's. when i was about 9 yr old i would go to work with my father then at lunch time he would drop me off at my grandmothers. she would make me a huge plate of frites (fried in chicken fat) in her basement. then we would go upstairs to eat. oh do i miss them. i can only get limpy fries today when i try.
i love how theyre going to germany yet they still call it by the engliish name, absolutely 0 respect for other cultures smh
Just back from Athens, I disagree, they are kind of lame and overrated.
4:50 What does a simple barbecue have to do with gyros? Sticks on top of fire. It's literally been the only way to cook for ancient people since the invention of fire. Also, look at the way they are cooking that meat; it screams Middle East. Nothing about this feels Greek. Where is the olive oil?! BTW, you are "Deutsche Welle" go ahead and ask anyone in Germany what they think about gyros 😂
