After 27 years, my brother and I returned to Saudi Arabia in february 2020, just shortly before the world sunk into Corona-chaos... We had long dreamed of fishing the Red Sea after so many years, and hoped that it would still be as wonderful as we remembered it from our childhood.

Fly Fishing for PIKE in a Trout Stream. My HEAVIEST Pike Ever!

I knew there were good pike in that stream, but what happened that day was just insane! My heaviest pike ever with 12.07kg! This little stream is small, and most fishing is done from the banks. But to properly fight larger fish, I sometimes enter the water, so the fish don't cut me off in the roots of trees and in the branches of overhanging bushes... but this specific spot had a deep riffle ru...

Yes indeed it looks like it, but its way past their spawning period. Pike just grow extremely fast and fat in our trout waters…

Nice fish and recovery. Pike are always great to hook you right them three times normally. The psych , the show , and the beaten surrender. Your ability to recover from the first landing attempt was awesome line directional steering management was top notch maintaining a relentless hook set all the way through. Bravo top notch film. Your experience shows!
That Pike has probably been eating trout and whatever else for such a long time, no wonder it's so big.
Yes probably it did! Our little creek must be a paradise for pike although you d never expect such big fish in such a small body of water.

Great video, many thanks for sharing. I'm heading out to Saudi next week and will be near Hanak on the Red Sea coast. Having looked on Google Earth there are a lots of fairly remote and good looking fishing spots. Any advice for avoiding problems with the coast guard? Are the areas where you are not allowed to enter the water well sign posted? The 10wt is packed and itching to go!

Haha yeah thanks mate! That music reflects 100% how I felt in that situation - everthing else just disappeared from my perception, kinda like being on drugs (or at least how I imagine it to be).

I fish small streams with spinner baits all the time for Smallmouth Bass & Pike in the U.S. midwest, and often I have to go in (or fall in) to the water to land a pike. That's just the way it "is". So worth it though! That's the HEART"💗" POUNDING EXCITEMENT that "Lures" me to this kind of fishing😉🎣🐾🍀🌲.

Tides are not really worth talking about in the Red Sea, the water fluctuates hardly a foot or two. February can be windy, and sometimes even a little rain, but since the ocean is wet anyway, whi cares about rain while you are fishing 😂
Congratulations from Canada on a fight well fought - that was a slugfest, and it could easily have hung you up on the snags in that run. European pike are considerably fatter than ours, and this one was a bruiser. Love it when you have to go in after them, once you are swimming you are committed haha.

We can return them, which we do frequently. But we try not to let them get too numerous, as that would endanger the grayling and trout. And while pike are abundant in Germany, especially grayling have become very scarce. This is one of only a handful of rivers where they still thrive and reproduce.
Amazing! How is now tourism there? If is same fishing options in Egypt shore?
Not sure, Covid has made everything a bit difficult. Egypt has relatively strict regulations concerning fishing from shore. It is no problem to fish from boats though.
