- Sometimes the best fishing happens when it is least expected. This video is from a single day, and despite my scepticism the fishing was excellent!
Please be easy on me for my clumsy English - I am not a native speaker as you might have noticed.
Hope you enjoy the video, please subscribe!

Since I do release fish in this video, I want to share some thoughts on this with you in an article on my website: troutfishing-ge...
Wonderful vidéo.beautiful Pike .good game. I like Pike fly fishing. 👍👍👍🎣😉
Good stuff, pike on the fly is the best way to spend a winter's afternoon
Completely agree! Love to fish for those crocs!
Nice fishing!!!
Very nice catch !
Nice Catch, i would be happy with just 1 of those :)
Same here, usually I am happy with just one bite during an entire day. This day was very special, lots of good fish seen and caught! Sometimes you just have to be lucky!
👍🎣🦈😉
congarulations,what is rods aftma?and type line?danke
Hello, and thanks for your comment! I am fishing a 10wt rod with a floating line (Guideline Pike WF10F).
Wow man awesome video !!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very intresting! Очень интересно👍
👍🏻Wow.
Another awesome video 👌
Black Country Piker thanks mate!
Troutfishing Germany what scoop net are you using?
Black Country Piker that is a McLean wading net. Very nice quality, i have it in various sizes. This one is the seatrout/salmon-variant.
Troutfishing Germany thanks for the reply, I intend to wade for pike this season and need a hand net I can hang on myself 👍
Nice upload.Keep going 👍👍
Can't quite tell from the video, are you using a steady retrieve or intermittently pausing to illicit a strike?
Looking forward to some more videos.
Привет! Огромное спасибо за классные видосы! Если не секрет, подскажи модель удочки, что ты используешь и класс?
Спасибо Это один "Hardy Demon SWS #10".
Troutfishing Germany thanks for the answer! Hardy fishing rods are really amazing. In your opinion, is it not too fast for pike flies? I already have Scott meridian, but I look after the vision big daddy specifically for pike. didn't you have to use them? They seem to have a slower system.
Sergey Shpak. Аквариумы. I really like fast rods, but many people fish the Big Daddy rods, they are surely a good option. I have not used them, but they should be a little bit slower. The Demon SWS is my first rod from Hardy and I really love it, it won’t be my last one probably. The quality of the cork and the components is excellent.
Nice fish, gives me hope for my fishing fishing once i get my rod license. but are you able to release these only since pike are in closed season for spawn? I would almost expect targeting closed season fish would be illegal also, the rules on cr baffle me here.. thanks.
Rules are somewhat different from country to country - and in case of Germany, even different from region to region. Here in my area you are not allowed to fish for spawning fish, and this is a good thing. Pike is closed at the moment, and will open again on May 16. This video was recorded two months ahead of the spawning, in December. Just keep trying, I wish you luck... and always remember: perseverance is the best lure!
Quick question! I’m about to visit family in Germany, however, my dad says it’s pretty complicated and prolonged to get a fishing license. I want to know what I need to do to get a license because this simply looks amazing. (Yes I could google it but I’d rather it come out of someone who actually fishes there and maybe some tips)
If you are a visiting foreigner, you can get a tourist licence from the town hall without any real problem. After that you need to find a tageskarte, or a day pass to fish. If your family fishes they should be able to help with this, otherwise most of the fishing stores can help you with this. Just a tip, Germanˋs can be curious about fishing and might give you the fishermans greeting of Petri heil. To which you answer Petri dank!
what gear are you using? and are you weighting your flies? because i am having trouble with getting the big flies out when they are weighted to get them down :)
btw very nice vibes with awesome music ;)
Thanks Mark! The rate at which streamers sink have many influencing factors, and weight is just one of them. In the beginning i tied heavy flies and had the same issues as you. But Flies that are sparsly tied sink faster and most synthetic material do so in contrast to natural fibres and hair. You don’t need much material on the hook to create volume. Also, consider a longer leader or a thinner one. Fluocarbon sinks faster than mono. Steel sinks faster than fluo. So I am fishing a floating or intermediate line, with 2 metres of fluorocarbon and wire bite guard. Only if I am fishing from a boat i sometimes use sinking lines. Mind that the cool thing about fly fishing for pike is that you can fish extreeeeeemly slow. Pike seem to like that, and the lighter your streamer, the slower can you retrieve it without hooking the bottom. And I am beginning to realize that a big pike will take a small fly if you fish it slow enough. You don’t always need a 30cm- streamer, in fact my longest pike took a 10cm perch-streamer.

Super Hechte für den Fluss. Hab den Link von einem bekannten aus Krumbach bekommen :-)
Klaus Veeser 😂 danke Klaus! Ich glaube den Krumbacher kenne ich! Grüsse und Petri 👍😁🐳

Only 2764 views for this nice video I say that people really lack of taste...
Thank you very much Olivier! I will never understand why some videos go through the roof, and others don’t... anyway I still have fun editing every single video, and enjoying every moment of that day again.
@@troutfishinggermany9186 I agree with you that the most important thing is to have fun at the water's bank and then you can relive your fishing through the videos which are always a pleasure to watch and share.
I am French but I live in England. Here fishing is very regulated. No river is public so fishing on miles of rivers is even more complicated because many associations share the rights. And of course you have to be one of these associations to have the right to fish, so I just fish the canals where it is possible to catch a pike between 6 and 10 kilos from time to time. But for me the main thing is neither the weight or the size, it's simply to see the pikes attack my flies and to see them leave. But I think that's what all fly fishermen love. And after fishing it's this kind of video that makes me go back as soon as possible !
Is it true that catch and release is illegal in Germany?
No it is not illegal, but it is a very common misunderstanding. I thought so myself a few years ago.
You need a bigger net!
You are absolutely right. I was waiting for an offer of sponsorship by McLean angling, but nothing seems to happen 😁. Just kidding... bought a bigger net in the meantime.
