Flyfishing for Pike in the River Danube, Germany

- I love fishing for river pike! They are strong and beautiful, and casting a streamer into a river is so much more fun than casting into a lake.
This video records a short pike session on the river Danube. The weather was pretty ugly, the water high and murky, but the fish seemed pretty active, although the real beasts did not show up.
The constant drizzle of something in between snow and rain had me freezing, so I had to quit too soon...

The Danube starts here in my area, and in summer it is so small you can wade through without getting your knees wet. In Hungary it is a huge river, absolutely impressive masses of water.... still dreaming of canoeing down the Danube to get there, roughly 2000 kilometers... would be an adventure of a lifetime!
Great video, I really enjoyed the editing too. I love fishing for Pike, they are so aggressive and recently started practicing fly fishing too. You caught some nice fish here, that pink, black and white fly seemed to be a good producer in the lake you were in. Left you a big thumbs up and decided to subscribe to your channel too. Actually Andrew Fishing many thanks for the kind words! This fly has really been very productive this year. I do think it is rather the shape and movement than the colors, but of course you never know for sure... Hope you will be successful with the flyrod, it is very addictive 😃

Alexander Schiechel das ist eine Hardy Demon SWS #10 und eine Hardy Ultralite SDSL. Eigentlich hatte ich die Combo fürs Salzwasser gekauft, aber sie ist auch genial auf Hecht und Huchen! Die Schnur ist eine Guideline Pike Series in „floating“. Als Vorfach habe ich ein 45er Seaguar FC und eine Vision Wire Line als Spitze. Der Streamer ist eine selbstgebundene Variante von „Brammers Mega Jerk“.
Great video and very inspirational :) - which waders do you wear for winter fishing on the Danube? - I live in Austria by the Danube, about 45 minutes drive away from Passau and would love to try out what you´re doing on the Danube. Also, how do you cast out with the thousands of cyclists who ride by all the time? - It can be very frustrating on my stretch!

EUAngler Many thanks mate! I use a 10wt for pike usually. Have been using an 8wt too, but I like the 10wt better.
