It's a FLUKE! SMALLMOUTH Fishing WILSON DAM.
North Alabama Adventures and I take on Pickwick Lake looking for Saltwater Stripe. Instead it ended up being a Smallmouth bite. Fishing the tailraces of Wilson Dam on Pickwick Lake. Catching smallmouth using a Zoom Fluke drifting in the current. This is one of the best ways to catch smallmouth in current.

Beautiful striper
Thanks!
Note to self: Implement mandatory snack time and let that fluke soak. Thanks for the adventure sir!!
Thanks for tagging along.
Boom.
Thanks. Got a couple of sho nuff goodens
Being from CA where we can only use 2 rods, I am amazed you are able to manage all those rods at the same time without issue. Nice slabs too!
They get tangled from time to time. Most of the time if they get tangled one of two things happened. Turned the boat too sharp and the lines run into each other. The second is catching a catfish or bass that crosses all of the lines. Thanks for watching!
Every duck that i can find
Same, but I’ve been wanting a stud wigeon for years.
@@northalabamafishwaterfowlwell since im in albania i maby will get some mallards and someday some golden eyed ducks or another native albanian species
Top water bite is the BEST!
For sure!!!
For a second there I thought it was gone
Me too… Lol
4-5 or 3-4 im confused 😂 good shit tho man thank you
Around 4. Lol I’ve had no trouble with the knot with 3 but will go up to 5
Wow very cool!!
Thanks
Wow 😳 What kind of ducks were those
Blue wing teal
Get the hush puppies and fries ready !
👍🏻 These little fish sure are tasty!
Diver hunter from SD here. Great video. I love mallards and pintails, but the allure of bluebills and redheads and canvasbacks is strong. Especially as "ducky days" (overcast, windy, cold) are the perfect time to chase them. God bless.
Thanks! I absolutely love chasing divers. Chasing divers is how I learned to hunt ducks.
Man I am glad I found your channel. I am squirrel hunter and also have a YT channel. The time you’ve put into recording and editing is appreciated.I plan on getting after some ducks next season and am glad to see you are having success on public land. That gives me a little more hope for harvesting a bird or two.
Thank you so much. It is extremely difficult to get good content, as I’m sure you are aware for your channel. There are some ducks to get after on public land but it isn’t easy. It takes a lot of time and work to have consistent success.
The bar feathers extend the full length of the flight feathers therefore those are the greater scaup
Thank you for the info!!
@northalabamafishwaterfowl no problem! Those are some good looking drakes.
Heck of a season bud. Now on to other adventures in the outdoors.
Yeah, a strange but good season. Crappie fishing and a little bass fishing up next.
What lake is this?
No tougher state to do it in
For sure Alabama doesn’t have the numbers that other states have. I have found success in chasing divers. Seems like there are more divers than puddlers where I hunt. And also understanding because of the diver limits killing 6 every hunt isn’t happening. The hunt isn’t always about what you get, but rather enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and enjoying the company of those hunting with you. Hope your season ended on a positive note. Alabama was tough this season.
At least you didn’t get skunked. Still using the 20 gauge? 👍
Yes, this was with the 20 gauge. There were tons of scaup around but we could only get one each.
@@northalabamafishwaterfowl yeah I heard some states imposed strict limits on scaups. Not only scaups, like blacks, pintails due to declining population. Good eating divers especially the cans.
Looks like an awesome day hunting! Wish I could tell the difference myself.
It was a fun day hunting. Last day of the season. I know there are some differences but knew there are some experts out there that could easily tell me for sure.
So mean let them live i love ducks
I love ducks as well, conservation is helpful for waterfowl.
What are youcooking the birds for?
Food? Some think divers aren’t good table fair but I think they are good.
No sport at all , full cruelty.
?
If these birds were taken for food, how is it any more cruel than paying someone else to kill an animal for your meat? Unless you're a vegan, in which case at least you're consistent.
😢😢😢
Country boy bling right there. 💪🏻
I know I could google it but Im too medicated for that.. what does the band signify?
It’s used to track duck migrations. This one was banded in Pennsylvania and I harvested it in Alabama. It provides information on the migration timing and path of this duck.
If the animals been injured, caught, etc etc etc. Preservation (or whoever had interaction with the animal) will put a band on it. When you kill it, you can look up the numbers for it and see where it came from, give info on where you killed it, and this is actually how we get things like migration patterns. This is one of the many ways that human hunting has been redesigned to help the environment and preservation Most hunters keep the bands as trophies. I’ve had two myself and it’s really cool to learn about the animal
Congratulations on the two bands that you have. You are correct it is really interesting to find out about the animal you harvested.
@@northalabamafishwaterfowl wow! Thank you for the reply. That's awesome. Congrats on the banded!! Its really cool how far birds fly
Awesome
Thanks!
That’s great to see! Keep it up! GOD Bless!!!
Thanks! Much appreciated
Man dude do you ever shoot any ducks on the wing the majority of ducks you shoot you water swat !
That’s true, I do water swat a lot. I’m not a great shot so getting them in close on the water gives me the best opportunity for a clean shot without losing or wounding them.
You butthurt ? I think it takes more skill to get em in the water rather than sky busting at birds 60 yds out😂
Old machootin whatever must be a water swatter too maybe you should team up with him and you won’t be so but hurt ! 😂🤣😂🤣
This is really good filming. Congratulations on your first band.
Thanks! Much appreciated
@@northalabamafishwaterfowl by the way, what brand of gun?
Tristar Viper G2 20 Gauge. I got it at the beginning of teal season this year. I’ve really liked it and have had zero problems with it.
Are you hunting around guntersville looking for a new place swan creek is getting crazy
I’ve been hearing of the crazy that’s been happening at Swan Creek and don’t blame you for wanting somewhere else to go. I do not hunt Guntersville, but there are ducks to be found on Guntersville. There are also plenty of places to hunt on Wheeler that is not Swan Creek. Good luck for the rest of the season. Can’t believe it’s already almost over.
Way to go bud. Awesome footage and video.
Thanks 👍
bro was hitting a jig 😂
For sure😂
Why do people duck hunt are they bad for your crops or something?
For food
I hunt for the joy of the sport, for food, and to help in conversation of the animal. In some areas the waterfowl can be detrimental to crops.
@@northalabamafishwaterfowl what you said😂
@@northalabamafishwaterfowl oh ok
Nice!
Thanks!
Atta boy. Putting in the time and getting lucky.
It’s crazy the new things you can see when getting out there. Always something new.
Putting in the time and effort.. getting it done!! Way to go man!
As slow as it’s been, it’s tough to keep getting out there.
buffies taste like dog shit and you get a nugget of meat 🤢
If you cook them right they are not too bad. They aren’t a teal but if prepared right they’ll do.
Dramatic.
Limited out on opening day with woodies, Shot a 4 yr old band from Decatur . Do you have fb or anyway to privately message u.
That’s awesome. All of my wood duck holes are dry. I haven’t been able to get any woodies this season. I’ve also never shot a band. Congratulations.
TEASPOONS SAVED THE DAY !!
They have saved the season so far for me, nothing much else to speak of in my area.
I hunt with the 20. What brand your gun? Mine Stoeger m3020
It’s a TriStar Viper G2. This is the first year I’ve hunted with it.
What lake is this?
Putting the hammer down on some drakes man. The war paint was on point but we have to work on your “woos”.
I’ll try to do better with my “woos” and “get ups”. Lol.
Easy water swats
That looks like a really good day for hunting right there! Keep it up!
Thanks!
Saweeeeet! 👍🙌👏👊
👊
Nice
Wow, great job man, GOD did a great job making them birds 👍🏻
