Public Land Teal with 20 Gauge

Duck hunting during the early teal season on Alabama public land with the Tristar Viper G2 20 Gauge shotgun. This is my first kills with the 20 gauge and I'm pumped about it. I'm shooting #4 Hevi-Bismouth shells with the 20 gauge this season.

Good morning, I am a new duck hunter this will be my first year to duck hunt and even dip my toes in. The issue I am running into is I live in central Alabama.. alabaster Alabama and the local wma doesn’t have ducks. My question is what wma is best for a new comer like myself who just has the basics: gun, waders and 6 decoys who also doesn’t have any type of water craft or a dog that I can go to and walk to and shallow enough to spread our decoys?

The best thing for you would be to find someone to go with. That can be hard sometimes in the waterfowl world. I started with 2 friends and we didn’t have a clue what we were doing. Finding success was hard. If you cannot find someone to go with, look at management areas rules and regulations to see if you can hunt waterfowl on them (some do not allow it), then just start scouting. Most of the WMAs I hunt are highly pressured but if you do enough scouting and adding a few places each year you can be successful.
