Welcome to The Tech Geeks - March 2024 Update
Ok, great video. i think i understood. I have a house with a cable modem and router. So I'll have one of these devices there. Then i have a barn 500ft (150m) away. I need the other one there. But then the barn has network devices, wireless and PoE cameras. How do i hook these to this 2nd nanobeam? Do i add a switch and/or access point off of the nanobeam in the barn? Thanks!
A performance review would be helpful.
Hello, may i ask a question? I have a gen 1 nanobeam. If i download the configuration of this one and i upload it on a nanobeam gen2, does it work?
I have had similar PTZ cameras, never from TP-Link, and they always lack security in their functions: When the camera is in PATROL mode, patrolling the areas, and detects a human intruder, it continues the patrol to the next area, losing sight of the intruder instead of stopping the patrol function and following the intruder. Does the same thing happen with this VIGI C540-W camera?
did i hear it right that this device can power by 48volts?
Does it support POE?
Yes
Does it support POE?
Hello this product can be used to extend wifi range from an indoor router ? Can it connect to indoor router by wifi ?
can i use ssd rather than hdd in TpLink NVR? please replay... noobie here, thanks..
I don't think it support SIM. BTW, does it support POE?
Mega-Second. Great video. Thank you.
Very good video. It solved many questions I had. Thank you!
can you show this with the intercom opening a gate system, please and how you could connect it to the gate wires.
look. greta to be an gate opening but it doesn't have GSM like Akuvox, How does it work as a gate opener. I would love it to work with my system
I have the deco mesh cylinders and I had nothing but issues for two days they were installed. My Starlink kept disconnecting and I did have the Starlink switched for it with the override but wasn’t working so frustrated. Do I need another router with the deco mesh?
❤
Love ubiquiti design language but I wish they'd make more stuff for those who rent and can't mount access points. Other than the older u6 mesh we have stuff all options. Thanks for the review. My goto reviewer for informed purchasing decisions.
the ultra series is perfect for you, or amplifi
This is good for renters with the added stand.
@@jeffdell5787 Agreed, need more standing options. I hear they're doing another version that has additional ethernet ports like the u6e in wall version. Now that product I'm very interested in.
For a range of 30 meters?
Does this offer any optical zooming as its wireless camera
It would be great to see a guide for upgrading from cloud key/usg to the ucg-ultra. The guides online seem to be hit and miss. There will be a LOT of people doing this shortly now that there is more stock in Australia (including me).
Yes! I have the USG/CG2+ combination, and I am starting to look at the transfer to CGU with the Cloud Key being demoted to running Unifi Protect only. There's not much progress so far as the family is trying to use the internet, but it´s unclear what you should do at what stage. I want to transfer all the network config from the CG2+ to the CGU, but it´s not playing ball so far. I have a feeling that this will be one step forward, two back for a while...
Hey, thanks for the video! I think the phone configuration is what throws me off the most. Although it looks simple, how is remote management after the initial phone set up? I would like to set this up for a small business but also be able to manage the gateway remotely when I'm not on-site.
Someone get this man an air conditioner....
Do you need Unifi protect to run these?
So If I have a 10Gbps internet plan, and connect my router to this AP which has 2.5Gbps port, how will I get WiFi 7 speeds in terms of Internet Speed?
over wifi on your local network
@@deher9110 I didn't understand? Which WiFi? AP that receives only 2.5Gbps speed can give you more than 10Gbps wifi?
Can you plug this into a tp-link switch?
Yes you can if the TP-Link switch provides 48V PoE based power
Can i use another brand switch
You can use any brand switch you want, it just won't be configureable / able to be managed in the Omada control panel, but other than that it should work fine.
Do you know if the update came out so we can use a G2 Pro intercom with the Viewers? Also could i connect 3 viewers to one system? The design would be. A guest pushes 1 of 2 G2 Pro intercom buttons and all 3 viewers in the business ring as well as the app on phones. Thanks for this great video.
Good question. From the Ubiquiti site "Intercom Viewers can also receive doorbell calls from the G2 Reader Pro." Yes you can also assign a number of viewers to a UA-Hub so therefore all will ring when the Hub receives a call, or you can join a single viewer to multiple UA-Hubs and so as a result it can be activated by a number of different readers / intercoms. I hope this helps
Yeah great no ftp
:(
hey can you do a usp-pdu-pro from UI all the other videos on the internet is ages old, I will like to know if UI ffixed the ports that wasn't working on the unit. I can't believe no one has made a update to this pdu.
Good suggestion. I am based in Australia and currently Ubiquiti don't make a version with Australian power plug connections I am afraid, so I will need to wait until one is released.
How do you get a user or ANYTHING in the directory. I will not be getting the viewer because I am always mobile so I want the call to go to my phone. There is no documentation ANYWHERE!
How in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!! do you make a call go to the app. There is no documentation anywhere!
How’s the noise?
Close up it is around 54 dBa and about 1m away it is about 35 dBa, I hope this helps - In basic terms you can certainly hear it running. If you had this in a house and you were in the same room, the fan and the harddrive read/write may be annoying. If it is in a small cabinet etc, then you will probably be fine.
do we know when they will be avalible in the UK?
Isn't it stupid that they don't include the power adapter for the POE version? How the hell anyone could test the camera without an NVR?
The idea is that if you want the PoE version then you probably have a PoE switch or a PoE injector you can use. Either of those will allow you to test the camera without an NVR
How does TP-Link VIGI compare to Hikvision (at similar price point) for functionality and quality? Thanks.
Can you show how the CLI connection is made using both an IP address and the hostname through SSH:22.
Thanks for the question. You don't need to configure these devices using SSH, so nothing to show I am afraid.
the problem is this intercom and the viewers won’t work in a house unless you are only going to have one viewer. i don’t believe there’s the ability to ring a name in the directory (or hit the doorbell) and have it call all of the viewers through your house. Ideally i’d like to have my family’s names in the directory then a guest pushes the name of the person they want and then all the viewers in the house will ring along with the access app on that specific family members phone (like a call group). till that happens this will be hard to use in a home since guests will have to guess which room im in to call the right viewer.
For once Ubiquiti have done a good job with leaving a lot of the features either unused or open to further improvement. With the physical buttons this is perfect for a gate entry system. Hopefully we will be able to configure it to be used for that, where it would then give the option to remove the directory and have one press ring on the ring button
Exactly, but watch this space as there may be rumours of a gate system in the works, but time will tell :D
@@The_Tech_Geeks I'm excited!
hi dear, i have an old historic bronze keyboard that i use it as secondary entrance. In the general entrance i will use the ubiquiti intercom. In the bronzed keyboard i have 6 buttons. Can i reassign the others input of the access hub to call the apartment inside a secondary block?
You wouldn’t want that on the side of your house 😂
Correct, the compact version is better if you are not looking to house the Dome cameras in the case.
@@The_Tech_Geeksis it out, I am really excited for that g5ptz if it’s an official product
How common is half width racks? Wouldn't the intended use case best suit Ubiquiti's new white aesthetics?
i'd like to use two UX's to create a guest a meshed wifi network with a captive portal. Thanks for your info on setting that up. Would you happen to know if captive portal guest network setup is also a supported feature?
18:01, mentioned guest networking at the end there, So I assume captive portal features are there too.
Stop swallowing while talking.
OK, Noted.
I am new to networking, but if you just wire your EAP610 directly to your ISP modem aren't you running the risk without a firewall or any vlan options. This is the only video that I have seen that suggests the router as an optional item and the hardware controller as the required option. Seems like a better solution would be to us an ER605 as router and then setup the EAP610 in standalone mode. From what I have seen, the hardware controller is really only needed for a mesh setup with multiple AP. Thanks for all the informational videos.
Do Aussies pronounce Router like the US, I didn't think so? Grinds me, it is a router as in hooter! C'mon man you're a Brit, well accent is. No offence intended. 😁
Haha, I am afraid if I say it the English way it will become an X-Rated channel here in Australia as the english way we say router, means something very different here in Australia !
@@The_Tech_Geeks lol 😂 fair dinkum , we all love routing ! I know a lot of aussies so know where you’re coming from. Forgiven .
I often say it’s funny how in Australia if it’s a route for roads we pronounce it root but if it’s a router we use the American pronunciation. Most countries use the same type of pronunciation for both.
paul, i just bought ruijie rg-eg150gw-x and im planning to pair it with my starlink to extend wifi and i want to use ruijie captive portal as SSID authentication, so my question is have you tested starlink with ruijie captive portal and does it work??
Looks like a good product; but 500USD ?
For the build and functions, it is probably worth the money compared to some of the other vendors in this higher end customer space, but obviously not as cheap as the more entry level vendors around.
57 minutes of waffling.....seldomly seen such a poor explanation on the simple basics. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your comments. Generally we have encourgement the other way around and people like the videos, but hey sorry it was no use to you.
@@The_Tech_Geeks Admittedly, my comment was a bit harsh in it's tone and I apologize for that. But as it is, surely you can appreciate that people look for very specific content and help, and people prefer to watch short videos of max 10 minutes, rather than watch 2/3 of a movie. So if I look for "how to connect a wifi extender to Starlink" I already understand the difference between mesh & extenders. So I don't want to receive an explanation on what the difference is, nor do I want to fast forward/scroll through the video to find the answer to my question. Now you provide soooo much information in that video. And the individual sections are no doubt very valuable to different viewers looking for different answers. So why not break a long video down into shorter videos with different headings, such as "The difference between mesh & extenders", "how to install a mesh system to Starlink", "how to install an extender to Starlink" etc. The last one is what I was looking for, but your video was just too encumbered. So I watched someone else's 3 minute video and got the answer to the point. I would bet my bottom Dollar that you would get many many many more views if you broke your videos down into shorter videos. TikTok has stuffed the use of long videos up. Nowadays, everything has to be specific and as short as reasonably possible. All the best and good luck.
Hey, thanks for your further comments. I think you may have fallen in to the trap that you assume we run this channel to get views and therefore money from those views. This channel is actually here to answer questions our customers have. This video was made around a year ago when Starlink was just starting to get traction here in Australia. It was made for a very specific target audience of around 40,000 facebok users of two groups at the time. That audience had hardly ever had any usable internet at the time, even less the ability to extend wireless. It was meant to be a really over the top explanation. You will see we have put chapters on the video so people can easily jump to the sections they want. You will also see by the comments that most have found it really helpful. I have no issue with your point of view or your comments, it is just this video was probably not created for you, as you seem to know the concepts already. This was created for people that did not even know how to put Starlink together or what it even could do, let alone how to extend the wireless around their property. This video was created to draw people away from our telephone and email support and create a more self educational solution. From the 75k+ views I believe it has done what we needed. I hope this helps further.
Stupid to have a dongle on there now you need to put a hole
It is an interesting approach, but just the same as many of the other vendors out there, or maybe it is a ploy to sell junction boxes :D
Not many passionate tech people put there these days. You guys are def top notch, love your videos - to the point, knowledgeable, valuable 👍🏻
Our pleasure!
