      We have run tests on the UDM-Pro and SE. It is important to note it has a 10Gb/s WAN port as an option as well as a 2.5Gb/s on the UDM-SE and a 1Gb/s on the UDM-Pro. Both of these units can do 1Gb/s in our tests with no issues.

    Awesome video! May I give you a suggestion? When testing Multi-WAN Routers, avoid pulling the cable that connects your GW to those ISP routers/modems. When you pull the cable, you're causing an interruption at the Layer-1 which will be very easy for any device to detect (And this isn't a reality from an outage perspective). The easiest way to validate this test and really see how long the gateway takes to commute between WAN Connections would be, interrupting the uplink from those ISP Routers/Modems to the ISP itself, I mean, pulling the WAN cable/fiber from those devices. With that your maintaining your Layer 1 and 2 connectivity and your GW will need to detect it using Layer 3 or anything above that. As per my understanding, this device uses an Echo Server from Ubiquiti to validate the link connection but I can't see more information about how frequently this synthetic monitoring occurs and if this is configurable or not. TL;DR: If your multi-WAN uses Layer 3/4 monitoring to detect outages you should test forcing them to work on that level once Layer 1/2 doesn't represent the reality and will be too easy to detect. Hope it helps! Thanks for your content.

      Thanks for your comments. In my instance the ISP connections were those two cables as they are then upstreamed to the rest of the network. I could not remove the physical network connection to the ISP for that network as it is on an SDWAN and will just self heal. I will see if I can work a better way of doing this by maybe swwapping the VLAN out or sending it a NULL route and record the results in due course. Again thanks for your input.

    Thank you for a great and helpful video! Especially the tip on how to handle an ISP with 192.168.1.1 was extremely helpful. Since I am new to Unifi I probably would have been stuck on that.

    It would be great to see a guide for upgrading from cloud key/usg to the ucg-ultra. The guides online seem to be hit and miss. There will be a LOT of people doing this shortly now that there is more stock in Australia (including me).

      Yes! I have the USG/CG2+ combination, and I am starting to look at the transfer to CGU with the Cloud Key being demoted to running Unifi Protect only. There's not much progress so far as the family is trying to use the internet, but it´s unclear what you should do at what stage. I want to transfer all the network config from the CG2+ to the CGU, but it´s not playing ball so far. I have a feeling that this will be one step forward, two back for a while...

    Hey, thanks for the video! I think the phone configuration is what throws me off the most. Although it looks simple, how is remote management after the initial phone set up? I would like to set this up for a small business but also be able to manage the gateway remotely when I'm not on-site.

      Once you connect it up to unifi.ui.com you can then access the device across the internet either with the Unifi Network app or a web browser, so becomes very easy to manage after the intial setup.

    How does it handle a power outage? I've been running a CloudKey for some years and we always had to recover from a backup whenever it got disconnected from power without gracefully shutting down first. I hope this issue has been fixed in the Cloud Gateway Ultra, but I cannot find any info about it yet.

      Good question. I have never personally had an issue with a cloud key, but what I can say with the Cloud Gateway and the Unifi Express that we tested, we pulled the power out regularly and the device restarted without loosing any config. I hope this helps.

      I think you may have it confused with the Unifi Express. The specs for the Cloud Gateway Ultra show
      Application-aware firewall rules
      Signature-based IPS/IDS threat detection
      Content, country, domain, and ad filtering
      VLAN/subnet-based traffic segmentation
      Full stateful firewall

      @The_Tech_Geeks  Před 3 měsíci +5

      Yep, and none of those other sellers have actually shipped any yet, when we have shipped hundreds :D The only issue is we have to air freight small quantities at a time and have to cover extra import duties so at the moment that is why our prices are higher, because our costs are higher.

      It's a big problem. my unifi network is 7 years old and my usg3 is on it last let's but I can't get a replacement gateway , so may be forced to go to another supplier. Unifi seems to focus on new products which are also not available rather than supply chain isssues , which could result in people without a service for many months. if you can't buy /repair it doesn't matter how good the eco system is .

      I often say it’s funny how in Australia if it’s a route for roads we pronounce it root but if it’s a router we use the American pronunciation. Most countries use the same type of pronunciation for both.
