I think an important question should be asked.. Why Lord mentioned about divorcing because of adultery, but never once mention about divorcing because of abuse? Weren't any abusive marriages at His time? we know His audience were Jewish, jewish couples, different with Paul's crowds who were from pagan background who had already has pagan believing spouses, so there were issues about abandonment from their pagan spouses when they became Christians. But what about our Lord's jewish crowds? Weren't any abusive marriages then for Him to raising the issue?

Jesus is VERY confrontational. Almost every interaction he has is confrontational by nature! From the woman at the well to flipping tables to getting sassy with the Jewish leaders. Christians who claim this stance must have not read Scripture in their own time!

I respectfully disagree with your belief that it is the job of government to take care of immigrants or refugees. This command seems to be an individual one. The job of the government is typically different than the reponsibilities of individuals. This way brings glory to God because the recipient sees this as coming from God as opposed to a secular nation-state. Gratitude for welfare programs is nearly non-existant. We only see one government that provided for economic needs of its people in Scripture - the Jews. They were to understand all things come from God. Your theory is actually more in-line with a theological system you disagree with: theonomy.

Narcissistic people can't take constructive criticism. They always see it as an unjustified attack on them. They can't see that they ever did anything wrong. There are no contradictions in the holy bible. No man wrote the holy bible. For this reason. The living breathing holy word of God is God and the Kingdom of God. God is above all , his ways are not our ways his thoughts are not our thoughts. Also remember that God alone is righteous, Holy, incorruptible, omniscient, omnipotent, Alpha and Omega, the one wise God. Also remember, no man knows the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him. Also the Holy word of God can not be intrepretated. Because the Living breathing Holy Word of God interprets the holy word of God. A VERY important observation on this subject. We CAN NOT discuss the subject of women's order and position in the Church WITHOUT the understanding on how the concept of Godhead Hierarchy and Submission points out to the theology of Authority. And as a matter of fact neither the order and position of man in the Church. As a Calvanist, we'd love to have you or any Arminian believer. I'm glad you feel the same way. Our teaching on it is firm because we think it is clear in scripture and that to deny it leaves room for self-boasting instead of reserving all boasting to that in the Lord. On another episode of 20 questions you answered a question about denominational or individual restrictions on teaching. The gist of your response is that all pastors should be free to teach as they believe on anything but primary matters. I think that has the real potential for the formation of sects and confusion. Our church wouldn't allow someone to rob the glory due God for single-handedly changing the blind hearts of those dead in sin and causing them to be born again. Also, knowing that Jesus was thinking about specific individuals (like me) when he was agonizing on the Cross has significantly influenced my love for Him. Doesn't the man who choses Jesus have room to boast over his neighbor who did not? These scriptural images all insinuate that this is not merely a decision but an act of God impossible for people to do on their own. I also see no way to explain John 6, Jacob vs. Esau and many others passages from Arminianism. I also see a related, apparent contradiction in your teaching. You've said homosexual proclivities aren't sin because you cannot change your desires. Why the command to not covet, an illicit desire for that which doesn't belong to you? How about same-sex lusting? Jesus made it clear that the sexual desire for a woman who is not your wife violates the command against the prohibited act. Also how can you change your desire from not loving Jesus to loving Him? I believe that desires can be changed once the Spirit monergistically first sets our primary affections on Jesus. Practically this works by exposing oneself to the glories of Jesus found in all the various means of grace: prayer, fasting, reading scripture, sitting under expositional preaching, fellowshipping with others of His, communing with Him through labor and sufferring for His sake, etc. This naturally causes us to love Him more and the contrasting bitterness of sin to be more obvious. If you were to respond, I'm sure I'd learn much. You have changed my mind multiple times with your clear biblical teaching. I thank God for you, a gift to His called-out ones. Mike, I think you should really take the time to consider the theological arguments for Eternal Conscious Torment, Conditional Immortality, and Universal Reconciliation.

I definitely changed my stance on this issue years ago. I used to believe that you could not divorce in this situation, but then I see it counters the heart of God and the rest of Scriptures. I excused my father's abuse until 12 years ago when I finally left home. My stepmom continued to remain where my father both cheated on her for years and both physically and mentally abused her and my younger sisters. It took me a long time to unpack what happened to me growing up. My dad still goes to church and preaches and teaches (part of the Plymouth Brethren so he speaks at Communion service which is essentially open mic).

The 1 Timothy reference is right after a selection about authority and power struggles, so that's topically related to the 1 cor passage. It's also the same author, Paul. Helps make an argument for Pauline authorship. I've never heard the interpretation about the angels. That's really good.

This is one of those topics that really does come to how you interpret it because nowhere does it specifically say that women cannot be pastors. It says a woman cannot teach a man or have authority over one. That would imply that a woman cannot be a manger over male employees or a teacher over male students. There are, after all, several examples of women both having authority over and teaching men, and each being praised by Paul for doing so. This is why many people believe that Paul’s letters to Timothy were strictly relating to the 1st century church of the Ephesians and not to be applied universally for all churches today. There are many cultural aspects that are taught in the Bible that we don’t take literally such as men not being able to but their hair for example, so it’s hard to say for certain whether or not this passage was meant to preach that women cannot become pastors.

Tho I will say, I've seen more kindness and love from Satanists than I have from christians.
