Australian Elite Gymnast Emma Nedov on her Comeback and the Road to Paris
I'm excited to share today's PerformHappy podcast episode with you. This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing the incredible Australian elite gymnast, Emma Nedov. Emma initially retired from gymnastics in 2020, transitioning into life after the sport. However, less than a year ago, she decided to make a comeback and set her sights on competing in the Paris Olympics.
Our conversation was inspiring and packed with insights drawn from Emma's 20 years of experience in elite gymnastics. She shared her journey back to the gym and the mindset that keeps her focused on her goals.     This was very interesting to listen to. My daughter has struggled with blocks and worked through them from time to time. She currently is a level 8 with a giant block. She is very visual, and I love the idea of potentially having her draw the steps. I've discussed this with her coaching staff which they are open to... Any visuals you have for giants? When I have discussed progression in the past with her on other items, she doesn't grasp the micro progression and only sees the big skills. So, I'm worried that it could be either her or her coaches that are not emphasizing the smaller micro steps. Hoping a visual you might have can help them work through this too. They are struggling on this and trying to figure out how to help.

    Hi, I have a question about the mental imagery. I'm a horse rider and had a bad fall from a horse that sped and bucked me off. I've cantered inside in a controled environment again successfully but the minute I go out and am no longer on a lunge rope or anything I will panic in the canter. I don't know how to get over this

      Keep your chin up. I recommend doing some visualizing while you're out. Use all 5 senses and see if you can make it feel real in your mind. That can keep your spirits and your confidence up while you're on the mend. Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery!

    I have such a bad mental block on back handsprings and I gets me and my coach really frustrated and I really wanna do it but my mind is telling me not to and I don't throw it can u help me please

    I hate competition. The only sport I like is pinball. Baseball is OK. I prefer development of the mind more than development of the body.

    Awesome! Former NFL Athlete, played for the Packers in from 2006-14. In 2016 I played in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders. And had a really hard time bonding with teammates and coaches. I felt like I did the early warm ups and bonding time. Just didn't seem enough felt like an outsider the whole time. Great insight. I will pass on the knowledge. Not sure what else I could have done. Now I feel I'm not alone in this boat and are others out there. Thanks

      Meditation helps concentration in basically anything. It also helps make your mind stronger which helps u get through hard workouts just by having that thought that u can’t stop. It may seem that u can do that anytime but it’s kind of hard to explain
