    That's the problem with the commercial industry. They don't actually care about your health. My husband and I just found the carnivore diet. Our friends have lost over 50 pounds each and have started curing their sicknesses just by eating meat, cheese, and butter. It's all fat. Our bodies get fat because it can't produce enough fat. When you feed it fat the pounds shred. It doesn't have to store it any more to survive. When it stores it, you get swelling and aching. They care about the pyramid schemes. All our world is built off of pyramid schemes. The worst off who's left at the bottom of the pyramid scheme you are. If they can kill off generations of people who use to do things the old way then they can get more money because then we become dependent on age old lies.

    Quick and dirty overview of the history hair cleansing habits in western Europe to the best of my knowledge: - combs are some of the oldest archeological objects we tend to find but could have been used in the textile industry we just have no way of knowing (btw "caveman" is a misnomer, in Europe we never lived in caves we might have used them for temporary shelter or religious or artistic reasons but "cavemen" were nomades and settled down in what resembles modern tents or tipis) - combing is basically the way we kept hair clean throughout European history, in antiquity the celts allegedly used lime to wash hair (might have been chalk) and the romans washed it in mid August but i have yet found no description of how -in the middle ages, vikings would wash hair on Saturdays the rest of Europe could have done it as often as weekly as little as monthly, like the rest of hygiene it was done with (vine) ashes, daialy hair combing and braiding and hair covering. Marseille soap is invented (then only used as laundry detergent) and first mention of scented hair powder i know of. Various concoctions and oils can be used - modern era: the popularisation of closed chemney means less soot means less hair covering (maybe) variations on the humor theory, densly populated cities and the plagues means that city water is not the safest and is less popular, daily combing is still done, hair powdering (covering hair in animal fat and then in a layer of powder that is combed thoroughly daily) starts being a thing in the late 17th century but remains a really french thing to do until the late 18th century, hair is still covered by day specially outside. -19th century: visible hair powdering become tacky by the beginning of the century, 1830 we see a trend of young teenage girls washing their hair is frowned upon by their teachers (tuberculosis bring a fear of being cold and damp), boar bristle brushes become common throughout Europe, the term shampoo (describing a spa like treatment inspired by india practices involving hair oiling and perfuming) gets coined in English. Detergent options include castille soap, jelly soaps , eggs,tea, coffee, all of those can be mixed with borax, alcohols or other astringent products. Early 20th century, the fashion of cutting hair shorter and setting it in curls using water will bring with it the necessity to have it washed weekly to maintain the style and when long hair is back in fashion in the late 60- early 70s it's worn loose and uncovered and is then more prone to dirtiness (and a lot of cleaning practices are either obsolete or forgotten)

    • @NanoYoga
      @NanoYoga Před 5 měsíci

      I was washing again with Weleda but now I use a sort of natural shampoo and whatever I can use in the hot spring baths, when I've forgotten my shampoo. I did use one specifically for dandruff, it was a Japanese one, because it was a funghal infection and that wasn't going to go away without some treatement. But now I don't seem to get such bad dandruff so I just wash with shampoo about once or twice a week or so.

    I'm thinking of going this as my scalp is so dry & itchy, I have tried all the medicated & herbal things, to no avail. My hair itself is pretty normal, it doesn't get greasy but I wouldn't call it dry either, but I much prefer how it looks wet, its too fluffy & big left natural, so a big of grease would help it. My fear is having a stinky head, or a more itchy unbearable head as I go through weeks of adjustment. Do you find water alone removes that hair/head smell?

    • @NanoYoga
      @NanoYoga Před 6 měsíci

      If your scalp is itchy I'd get a dandruff type shampoo, that's what I had to do when my scalp was dry and itchy eventually, not shampooing, made my scalp more dry. It isn't so bad now that I used shampoo that helps dandruff/dry scalp, as it's more targeting what's making your scalp dry .

  • @lovealways729
    @lovealways729 Před 6 měsíci

    I so so agree, I used to use natural shampoos only, *shikakai etc, my hair stayed clean and did not feel the need for often shampooing, when I used pantene, if I used a little bit much, my hair looked great, but next day went oily, I think chemical shampoos are really crap... the oil was there when i used natural shampoos but after pantene, I think the scalp over compensated for the dryness...

    • @NanoYoga

      Might depend on your diet, your lifestyle whether you're stressed or not, there's a lot of factors that can play. With dandruff I found that a medicated type of shampoo to address the funghi growth which causes dandruff help soothe mine. My scalp has changed again and now I get it less, but it was pretty bad, especially after no poo. But I still don't wash my hair even with shampoo or with water more than 2 times a week. As now it's winter here, so it's not so sweaty.

      Hello, thanks for your kind comment. I am no longer doing no poo, but I don't shampoo that often. My dandruff and itchy flakes got much worse. Possibly from my environment, wearing a beanie in winter too. At the moment after using dandruff shampoo, nothing fancy from the japanese drugstore. It has now gotten less itchy and a little more greasy. So I'm shampooing when it needs to be done. I just needed to use something to combat the fungi of drandruff on my scalp and soothe the scalp from itching. But I also think that trying it for the time that I did, did help my hair's health overall and returning to a natural colour. Not dyeing my hair.

  • @Kwetiaw_

    I've been trying no poo for 2 months, but the dandruff is still there but not so itchy and my hair has become waxy. Every time I comb my hair the wax sticks to the comb. I think it's from my diet and the water here is not good. What should I do?😢

    • @NanoYoga
      @NanoYoga Před 8 měsíci

      My dandruff got worse too, especially in winter when I wear a beanie all the time. it is soooo tempting to use back shampoo when you feel the oiliness in your hair. But I resisted and it's going well now. I tried once the baking soda and water, the result was amazing. But then i realized that it is too strong and can damage my hair...so I wont try it again. Only water is my ultimate goal, even for my entire body. With these, life will be simpler. Feels better without using bunch of chemical containing products.

    You look a lot like you could be from an anime. You are sooo pretty. ❤ I quit shampooing when I buzzed my hair at the end of December 2021. My hair (which there wasn't a lot) got used to it very quickly. I'm still washing my hair with water only, but every now and then I'll use some kind of a hair rinse (ACV, citric acid or something else) if it feels like my hair needs it. My hair feels very nice, it doesn't smell or get greasy very quickly (it mostly gets only sweaty which kind of makes your hair look like it's super greasy). Also I used to have a problem with dandruff, but now it's ALL gone. I suppose that the daily shampooing really made my hair get greasy super fast but then again made my scalp get super dry which caused the flaking of the scalp.. Thanks shampoo industry for making me suffer with dandruff for over a decade...

      Hi, thanks so much for your comment, definitely have never been told I look like a anime character before. That's amazing that your dandruff went away. The main thing I got from doing No Poo, is that you don't have to wash your hair everyday, I never did because I could never be bothered to. I actually stopped No poo, as my dandruff and dry scalp didn't improve. So I use a dandruff shampoo, but perhaps a ACV rinse would also work if it did for you. Shaving your hair, also probably helped to just renew your hair too :)

    I poo once a week bc i like the smell of shampoo. I put virgin coconut oil (sold online or in asian shops) nightly to stop dandruff.

      You don't find that the coconut makes your scalp too greasy? I have heard about using virgin coconut oil, but I wasn't convinced.

      @@NanoYoga just use minimal amount. I use a dropper and dab drops every 1 inch apart. Then massage about 1 minute. Of course do it after thorough water wash and electric fan dry (not hot air) at night or whenever not going out. VCO has natural antifungal antibacterial. Thorough water wash in the morning.

    In the 1950's washing hair once a week for most people was fine. Some used green soap (UK). Conditioner wasn't heard of then.

    • @NanoYoga
      @NanoYoga Před rokem

      That seems totally normal to me, but abnormal to someone today. Shampoo and conditioner companies make a lot of money. By telling us our hair looks bad, smells if we don’t wash it everyday. It’s the case in Japan 😂 I no longer do no poo, due to my dandruff getting worse. So once a week maximum and water washing when I go to the onsen (hot spring baths) here in Japan or sauna at the onsen, my scalp gets way too sweaty.

    Different culture but I’m half Spanish and used to be chunky, my Spanish family would call me fat but at the same time would be typically Spanish and say I’m not eating enough, need to eat bread, etc. funny thing is now I’m the healthiest out of the family

    • @NanoYoga

      Yes it’s definitely cultural. It’ll depend on the country, the economics as well. But being called fat never feels nice. And yes of course enjoying food is important, I love food. But how do you enjoy food if you’re constantly worried about putting on weight? It’s just such a nasty cycle.

    I'm starting no poo tomorrow! I'm 1/4 Japanese 3/4 Euro-mix and my hair texture is very similar to yours. I did 2 days no poo before today and then chickened out haha. Wish me luck! Thank you for your video!

      It's not the most pleasant experience. I'm no longer doing no poo. Also harder now that lockdowns and meeting people is more normal now. But I feel like my frazzled bleached scalp and hair needed to be detoxed. You can also just water wash, which surprisingly works well. However the smell of hair is something very different to being used to using shampoos. Personally my dandruff didn't get better and as it's a growth of skin issue, I found using correct shampoos which treats it works for me. But I try to minimize washing to 2 times a week, when my scalp is itchy and flaky. I also use conditioner now, as those shampoos dry your hair a little and makes my wavy hair frizzy. Hope that helps.

      I'd say a workout is outside of my scope of skills, plus yoga is more of a flat bum making kind of practice. Pilates could help though.

    Can someone please give me some advice. I've been 3 months or so without shampooing my hair. I first started out by washing with baking soda and vinegar but I belive I was washing too often. I was loosing a lot of loose hairs in the shower. So I stopped washing all together. At first it was super oily but now its back to normal. Every week I will either do a water wash or if I'm feeling really ick I will do baking soda and vinegar... BUT HERES THE PROBLEM. My scalp gets so itchy about the 2 week. I'm scratching and it bleeds sometimes... and I've gotten really bad dandruff. I can take a small comb and flake the dandruff off. I use rosemary oil and that helps the dandruff for a few days. I've never had dandruff. Why is this happening. I've only heard the opposite from the no poo method.

    • @NanoYoga
      @NanoYoga Před rokem

      I wouldn’t use baking soda. If it cleans grease and is used for such harsh cleaning, I just don’t think it’s good for your scalp. Especially if you’re noticing a lot of changes like dandruff. I just used water while I did no poo for about 2 years. My dry scalp and dandruff didn’t improve. The itching and dandruff got too much. So I started using dandruff shampoo about once a week. But if I have no plans I try to go without washing with products as long as I can. But still washing once a week at least works for me now 😄

    My mom would wash her hair with shampoo once a week even go two weeks without shampoo and in between she wash her hair using only water and her hair is so pretty and thick and she is 61 years old the reason why I wanted to do this is because my hair gets frizzy it’s weird my hair is straight and little but if wavy and it’s frizzy and my hair is changing and I wanted to use no shampoo and get my natural oils back

    • @NanoYoga

      Worth a try. It’s hard to get used to at first. Especially when it’s oily. I’m back on shampooing once a week or so. But did No Poo for about 2 years. But my dandruff and dry scalp just wanted getting better. So needed to use dandruff shampoo for my scalp. I do think my hair is healthier though from doing no poo.
