WINTER KAYAK SQUIDDING - Puget Sound
Took my Hobie PA14 out on the sound to go squidding out in marine area 11. Fantastic weather this winter season so I was able to get out a couple time in very nice calm, warm sunny condition. Had a blast out there and saw a lot of other friend kayakers. Let me know if you guys have any questions in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

The fastest limit I've ever done! Fall clamming season is definitely in full swing. Hope this encourage everyone who wants to try out razor clamming and go out and try for these delicious clams. Only a clam shovel/gun needed, and can be done in sandal if you don't have waders or boots and don’t want to get your shoe wet! Check out my video short below for how air fry razor clams. Let me know if...

This boat setup seems pretty expensive. Based on your experience, do you think the boat is worth it?
Which specimens of clams are these??
What specimens of clams are these??
Hey there.. I know I'm pretty late to the party, but I have a suggestion regarding your line puller mount. E-Z Anchor Toggle Locks are what I used. I prefer these molly bolts over to basic toggle bolts because this holds tighter and longer, plus it doesn't leave the back toggle to fall into your hull what you take the screw/bolt out. if you need to take out the screw for whatever reason, the spreader is one piece so it stays in place to use again and again. I used a sealant caulk on the thread just below the screw head for extra adhesion and waterproofing. Hope this helps someone!
Where did you drop the pots at? Thanks
Did you make a video of your setup? Thanks
What time of year was this?
Looks good I suck them right off the shell after grilling them
Im local man! Have an autopilot 120 as well. If you ever need some company id love to meet ya out there and fish it up!
Just got mine today and it has all types of dents and deep scratches i sent photos too them and told me its in mechanical working order so they wouldn’t exchange it. Its kind if unacceptable the condition its in for what I spent and i would have too pay around 400 for a return
hello, please tell me, is this boat good for sailing in a big river (2km wide), with a stream speed of about 5 km/h, without a motor - only with oars, against the stream ???
The original Dayton Marine Sportyak boats were made in Detroit Michigan at Woodall Industries (they had a patent for vacuum forming) and were made in 7 foot and 8 foot models. We had a 1966 Sportyak ll model 7 foot model that sold for about $35. We sold that and got another one in 1980 a Sportyak lll 8 foot model which we still have with a 7.5 HP Sears Game fisher motor. My dad worked there for 42 years. The Sportyak original boats were used on the Grand Canyon Colorado River trips for they were almost indestructible and U.S. Coast Guard approved. Take care and thanks for your video. Those are nice little boats. There is another company that makes them now for Woodall Industries was bought out by Eaton.
Don't eat the brown ones.
Next time wear a spf shirt, you dont want to get the scent of that sun block all over you gear. Kokanee are pretty picky eaters.
I cant tell the difference between Geoduck and Horse Clams...look alike to me.
Just got a hobbie and definitely interested in the setup! Or if you want to go out and want some company I'd love to go out my first time with someone who knows what they are doing. just lmk
Excuse me I see me in ur video lol😂
sorry i missed on the weight u are using on your downrigger ball
I think I was using a 4 lbs ball here.
@@KAWFISHING I'm gonna try this out offshore fishing Miami. Have never seen a kayaker here using a downrigger and lures ever. It makes perfect sense to troll along reefs.
I enjoyed the video and I also tried to purchase an 8" West Marine site, I have a question. This is Orem, Utah. Where can I purchase a boat? Thank you
They use to sell it at west marine, but it's longer available there unfortunately.
Great video!
Beauty. I grew up near that beach. It also has geoduck. And cockle shell clams. But it can be closed often due too red tide. ( Toxic shellfish poisoning ) And vibrio bacteria ( human sewage waste bacteria ) it's important to follow the health restrictions
Definitely keep an eye on the DOH website for safety before digging, not worth messing around with shellfish toxin.
This is great! Thanks Kaw I have been using a lake troller, but I want to try your for salmon in BC on Canada's west coast. What weight cannonball do you use. Would 8lb be too much? Or would you recommend a 6lb weight? Based on your video I attached the Scotty 1026 pedestal swivel mount to reduce the drag when trolling.
Thanks! I would say 6lb is probably the max I would use, any more and it makes tracking much more difficult, especially in heavy current. Especially if you're not able to maintain speed.
And if you went today it would cost triple because of gas prices
i have no idea what youre saying, you sound like youre high as hell
Do you find that the rails are intrusive when you fish with a rod?
Not at all but the arch can be a bit if you plan on putting on a downrigger.
Way too expensive
High quality vid, nice.
I was out there 2 week ago in a kayak and it was awesome. I was thinking of going back after this cold snap. Do you know how long the squid season last?
Nice! I think this should be near the end of the season this month, but I'm still seeing some success reports. Only one way to find out!
Enjoyed this video. It reminded me of a New Years Day trip catching squid off the Edmond Pier. The local people were very helpful in showing a squid jig. I caught enough for a calamari fry for the whole family. That was 30 yrs ago. Looks like it’s still a great time
Love that trailer! What brand is that? Did you get it there at Outdoor Emporium?
Yakima EasyRider. It can be purchased at one of the local rack shop. Great trailer!
I think I was there that day
Trolling from kayak with trout/kokanee rods is fun
Si no vemos la manera de trabajar ,sobra el vídeo.
Did I just see you ruin them by using chlorine tap water
How do you know where to find them?

Beautiful!
We are new to the South Puget Sound area (military family). My 10 year old son is dying to fish for salmon. Do you have any recommendations on which areas (creeks/rivers) we could try to take him this weekend to catch some chum? Thank you!
Anywhere on the green river should be good right now to try or try the Hoodsport hatchery for a popular spot for chum. Best spot is to be out there, good luck!
There is a very tender part on horse clams that is excellent for making ceviche with.
Hey! Do you know how deep you were or how far off the beach you were?
No depth finder unfortunately but should be right off the beach, don't need to go out far at all.
@@KAWFISHING I appreciate the reply. Will try it out. Thanks!
Why chum? Come on now...
Great fighting fish that's accessible right in the PNW backyard!
@@KAWFISHING I live in Washington state. I guess I'm picky, I only go for the silvers. Fishing is fun, so I appreciate the sport.
@@hollyinhell Silvers are definitely better table fare but if you're looking to get a good tug in, give Chum a shot. lbs for lbs, they put up a great fight, fantastic catch & release fun for November!
Bye !...
The grass and your boots are not interesting...
Your camera field is off. Your action is above the viewer's screen, not interesting. Will stick around a few more minutes then I'm gone. Work on your screen field...
Thanks for the feedback!
you have to register it? is that just because you used an outboard?
That and using it in federal water, which is pretty much all of Puget Sound.
Awesome video mate!! I also love fishing and just uploaded a video myself!! Keep up the great work you're doing here!! 💪💪
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Pollution closures?
Outstanding upload. I've been weighing boats for a truck top boat mount and this has definitely assisted me in that.
hi,Wow~gorgeous view. =))
Nice
OH,, man you got 5 fish in less than 20 minutes????
