    I'm 6'2, have long arms, and am very lean. I think the upright backswing was made for me. I'm fairly new to golf but I practice a lot. I've never tried such an upright backswing until seeing this video. I've been copying everybody because most people prefer the flat backswing. The upright backswing is so easy for me to do compared to the flat backswing. Plus, it feels like there's fewer moving parts involved which is always a good thing. Thanks for this video!!

      Paddy is assuming you're already doing this. But most amateur golfers do not do this. Good tips!

  • @kevinmontgomery1054

    Great tips. Some prefer the lower, running 9-iron chip claiming a mishit is less bad than a mishit with a 56* wedge. I agree but also think the lower shot adds more complexity in that you now have to consider the green slope, contours and speed. Whichever shot you choose I advise practice.

  • @go4jackson
    @go4jackson Před dnem

    Let's not. It looks like you're teaching a sway off the ball. I don't think that's how any golfer should swing. There is a shift and it's towards the target, but there should be none back and if you look at your second setup you come off the ball a good 3 or 4 inches. Even in your subtle pumps down and through the backswing you are slowly shifting back to center before releasing the club. I like to stay more on top of the ball as much as I can and fight that burger and momentum to come back off the ball. That's what caused all my fats and skulls.

  • @davidburchfield7317

    1) Can't see the tees she placed as landing spots 2) What amateur would not use a putter with that lie?? In fact, more pros are using putters in those situations.

  • @granthamjones5021

    Never really understand why instructors insist that open face goes right. Face sends and path bends, you can hit it a huge open face as long as your path is to the inside of the golf ball. That is precisely how players play a push draw. The physics of the swing is marrying your face angle with your path (square and on plane is dead straight).

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy Před 2 dny

      That’s true. However, the reality is that 1 person in 1000 has a path so far to the right that they can hit draws with an “open” face. Those type golfers rarely watch these type videos. Your comment is valid none the less

    Where were you a few weeks ago ? I'm almost 80 and I'm now looking at knee surgery because I have been trying to maintain my weight on the front foot. A couple of weeks ago, My right knee collapsed (dislocated) under me and I ended up face down in the dirt. Of course, this video explains exactly what happened. By keeping my weight on the front foot, I had no where to go except back and the back foot couldn't handle the forces. You made it sound so simple but now I'm frustrated because I have to wait for a while before I can get back onto the course. BTW, I couldn't find the link to your other videos. Thanks and take care.

    The lateral shift might add 1 mph of clubhead speed... You literally can't shift laterally fast at all. The power comes from the torque of the hips and shoulders. You can stack all your weight on your front foot and MIGHT lose 2-3 yards at most.

    Importance of "landing spot" @2:08 yes, and one extra way to practice is to chip or pitch into a basket, which I rarely if ever see people doing where I work, and there are 5 greens to work with there; a state of the art facility!
