Where is this "debunking"? You waffle for almost half of the video and then when the meat of the video begins you offer nothing but "I think this works better". I've seen a few of your videos Rob, and I think you have this idea that you are a world class cinephile who sees the deeper things in film but this is just a guy at his table who dislikes a stronger, more interesting and genuinely more disturbing idea. One that you did not have.

Not a lot of actual debunking in this video. Pretty much a waste of time. Eyebrow Cinema's "The Wendy Theory is Bad" does a good debunking, especially about continuity errors, but I don't agree on a lot of his arguments. The question I have about continuity errors is, where's all the testimony from the film crew that Kubrick instructed them to put in this or that and then remove this or that?

If the people who made this movie knew anything, the fact that the carpet was square had nothing to do with it. they are in a circle, he is walking in the circle counterclockwise ( widdershins) undoing something or pushing something away, he's even swinging the crucible counterclockwise. he hits the staff on the ground 3 times to awaken the Gods or the particular Diety he has chosen to work with for the ritual. Are you sure this is the full ritual? People can stand inside or on the outside of the circle to observe, Inside to participate in whatever way. It seems like fear has made you read too much into the ritual.

It seems the whole line of questioning to Ziegler is first he blurts out the truth and then quickly follows up with an almost totally contradictory answer. From around 5:56 to then jump forward to 6:34, starting with hemming and hawing before blurting, 'Mandy, which seems to me a half-lie. Second question, What'd she take? Speedball (true). Snowball (lie). coke and heroin. Okay, maybe he gives three (different) answers to the first three questions, and the last answer is the truth. Anything else? Couple of drinks, nothing, champagne, that's it. Last question: How long has it been? 5, 6 minutes...

I think it was a clever way to show our own "secret societies" we create in our sub-conscious. The same thing happens to young children in groups of friends: they create hand signs/shakes similar to rituals. They build secret forts to do secret things in, just to have that feeling of belonging.... Deep down we all just want to fit in and belong. Some of us will go to great depths, and do terrible things to become apart of that group. Same thing happens to neighborhood gangs....

ive been a fan of Ager's videos on Kubrick for a long time and found them really informative but after stumbling on this video, it seems to suffer from a case of proclaiming "NEW BAD. OLD GOOD". Some of his points are good, like the issues with temp scores but then other reasons can go down to any generation or just pure subjectivity. To have it encapsulate an entire generation is quite overdramatic there is quite a lot of drivel out there, especially with the extreme push of content on streaming services and this means a lot more bad stuff will get out and be seen as overwhelming. But there are so many talented filmmakers out there who rise above the trash. This video just seems to be over romanticizing the past.

The 101st Airborne Division, Ryan’s unit, is known as the Screaming Eagles. Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) was an Army Ranger. The pin was a hint as to who the old man was.

Road Warrior introduced me to the concept of an anti-hero. I know Han Solo was an anti-hero, but I was only 7 then and didn't grasp the concept. The only difference between Max and the other villains was that Max worked solo (Solo?) aside from his dog (Wookie?). Han was just trying to get ahead in a tough universe - Max was trying to survive an impossible apocalypse. For me, Max existed somewhere between Darth Vader and Han Solo, but probably closer to Vader. He put the 'anti' in anti-hero.

Using sound and dialogue only to aid the visual story telling. It could tell it's story to anyone who doesn't even speak your language. And do it well. There is still so much we can create currently, and yet rarely anyone is doing it.

Interesting Fact: Mentmore Towers, the location where Kubrick filmed the ritual, and the Chateau de Ferriéres, where Polanski filmed practically the same subject, were two estates belonging to the Rothschild family. Also, in the Chateau de Ferrières, in 1972, Guy de Rothschild, held famous masked surrealist ball that seems to have inspired Kubrick for the filming of the masked party in Eyes Wide Shut.
