If you'll look, you'll find that the naked zombie is wearing a tag on her wrist, the implication being that she has risen from the morgue. The tag is on her wrist instead of her toe because you wouldn't see it at all if it were on her foot.

I have to say that the shotgun damaged cemetery sign probably wasn't filmed deliberately. As someone who has lived and traveled throughout rural parts of the United States for the last fifty years, shot-gun pitted road signs used to be ubiquitous in the pre-1990's era. In fact back in 1968 I imagine it would have been difficult to find a road sign not wrecked by gunfire in a place like Evans City Pennsylvania. Strangely, this phenomenon has all but disappeared over the past 30 years. It may be due to a change in culture but I imagine it's more likely due to the high cost of ammunition these days.

Its cause people all have cell phones now so the cops will be called. They can't drive-by shoot them anymore without someone immediately (and likely) turning them in/recording them. Everyone's a cop now.

.. I get the feeling that Johnny WASNT eaten, Only knocked-out - And when he awoke at night DESPERATELY seeking-out his sister or the only-source of light out there in that countryside (The House) He ran RIGHT into that swarm of undead, Disoriented.
Papa-zombie noticed him (Which is why he was 'Gone; for a while) Chased him down with Johhny trying so-hard to get INTO that house, But ultimately they bit him and turned him into one of them. Theres no way Johnny the zombie would be able to FIND his way there like the other zombies, Unless he had already ran-there while alive.
.. OR his sister was seeing his angry ghost near the end..

Who say's it was simply 'Damaged..?' This is a cemetary where the undead came back to life. Those 'Markings' kind of look like blood.
And they mightve been the result of someone trying to 'End' their escaped illegal-experiments in that cemetary, Like the remake hinted-at.
We dont really know how the infection started after all..

I live in northern MD near PA and if you go into a backwoods area a lot of signs have bullet holes in them, you don't see it as often today but back in the 80's early 90's almost every sign in backwoods areas of Pennsylvania had at least one bullet hole in them.

I got racial connections from the "Animalistic" part. It talks about how these people are "Animals" while the blk man is going through someone else's property. Almost as if the report is about the blk race and these are the views of what America thinks at the time since it's said over the radio the main source of American culture at that given time.

The reason why zombies eat humans is explained in the Return of the Living Dead franchise; they need brains to dull the pain of their own bodies rotting. I think that was the franchise that established the "BRAINS!" cliche. Of course, those zombies where capable of planning, coordination, and language. This, to me, always set up zombies less as an allegory for animal behavior and more an allegory for addict behavior.
An addict, depending on their drug of choice, experiences discomfort or pain when in withdrawal and will do just about anything to get it. They can be surprisingly clever when it comes to getting their next fix. Lastly we even describe people in extreme addiction as being like zombies.
