Amazing
Amazing work! For the stainless steel coasters, is there a reason you cut them to their final size manually instead of using the laser? I have never used one of these so I'm just curious.
It is 1mm thick stainless, and unfortunately this 40W diode laser can only cut up to 0.15mm thick
Saludos amigo que material usas y cuál es el calibre adecuado muchas gracias
Greetings friend, what kind of material do you use and what caliber? thanks😊
For these I used 0.9mm thick stainless steel 304, and usually use 1mm mild steel for unpolished work
@@ConnorHolland muchas gracias por tu respuesta
Cordial saludos amigo que material usas y en qué calibre
Conner, I have a few basic questions. Do you think you could form metal 2mm with say a 4000 psi pressure washer?
Yes you should have no problem, mine is only 1305 psi. The bigger the workpiece the easier it gets too
Dumb question: if you were to build inflated wings for a plane, reinforce it with composites and fill it with a lifting gas. Will that aide in a plane’s flight?
Having helium instead of air inside the wings would reduce the plane's weight by a small amount, it could get complicated working out the benefit vs lighter materials as the size of the plane increases
Very cool axe, never seen something like that before, also the inflating process 👍
man straight up created 10 individual sellable products non chalantly amazing work, this sells harder than entire creality's marketing, subscribed
Thanks!
That's really rad! Any changes to the surface texture from the heat or still smooth?
Thanks! Still smooth, at this power level it's just affecting the colour without removing material

Nice! I wanted to ask, how did the rust shield perform? Is it enough to keep the rust away in Britain? I always love the looks of the bare metal. Thanks,
Still no rust after all this time outside, it's galvanised steel and I made sure to spray the cut edges

1mm mild steel

07:03. Excellent colours here while other people don’t get as good. ? To do with the metal used? Thanks. Laurie. NZ. 😊
I get better results using brushed stainless steel, which is also clean and uniform. I did lots of tests to work out the best power settings, as even a change of 1% makes a difference
@@ConnorHolland really good stuff! Nice to see a variety of projects. I just got the 22W model and just starting off with paper craft and wood. How do you get colours to etch on stainless steel?! Different power setting per layer? Cheers!
@@randomvector78 Thank you, on 1mm thick brushed stainless I use 6000mm/min speed and 46% power for a gold colour, and 58% for blue, laser module set to precise which is 22W

Damn, that turned out awsome!!! 😍
As usual, interesting to watch.

Cool technique but text needs kerning.
Hi Connor, great channel and videos, your work is truly one of a kind! I stumbled across your videos and channels as I was investigating sheetmetal fabrication techniques for a particular application (multi layer insulation). Basically, I need to hermetically enclose a short stack of thin metal sheets inside of a sealed sheet metal vessel, much like the weld sealed enclosures from your demonstrations. I have a few questions if you dont mind me: - have you used a thickness less or greater than 1mm? - what technique/type of welding is applied? - which alloy have you experienced the best (or easiest) welding success? - instead of pressurize with air or water, have you tried applying vacuum in any of your experiments (i.e. the sphere or football)? If so, to what negative pressure?
Thank you for watching! I have inflated 0.15mm-2mm thick mild/stainless steel so far. TIG welding is the best option for control and ensuring no porosity. Mild steel or Stainless is the best to weld, Stainless is cleaner and mild steel is cheaper and easier to cut/grind. I haven't tried applying vacuum to any pieces yet, I'm not sure if hydroforming would create spheres that are stronger than spun or pressed ones, so data collected from those could be comparable
The balls harden!
Haha nice!
Looking like a space ship 👍
This turned out really cool. Surprisingly inexpensive for what it is too. Rad!
Thank you!
Pretty nice, hopefully you get no trubble with moisture.
Looks great! My first reaction was to say "be careful with your welding machine, not to electrocute yourself!" But I guess it would require a lot of mistakes to get there!
Yep, something to consider!
Yeah maybe weld them together and and connect them to a ground rod outside
If anyone out there is thinking of making one of these, there is nothing easier than working out the length and angles of the sheet metal needed to make any size sphere. I just did it on paper and it took me 10 minutes. Reply if your curious I'll an instruction list.
Description = decoy Reason = Heelys
6:45 Sir, where can i get safety boots like those?
End up with any gaps or other issues? Or did it all go as planned?
No gaps thankfully, I was very careful to line up all the corners perfectly
@@ConnorHolland Very well done! Thanks for sharing.
Thats great. How much did the sheets set you back?
£320 in total, cheaper than PVC or rubber garage floor tiles
@@ConnorHolland Not too bad! Did you consider stainless steel for the floor? I wonder how much more it would cost. It would certainly be more scratch resistant and less prone to corrosion.
Stainless from my same supplier is £125 per sheet, Galvanised sheet was £20 each
how thick is the double sided adheasive? will dents start showing up along where the tape is? Mirror finish! do itttttttttt
The tape I used was only the thickness of average sellotape/packing tape, so no chance of dents forming. That's also why I didn't use any underlay
But... Are you going to polish it?
I wouldn't want to remove the protective galvanised layer, but maybe I can add some metal polish to the mop to help shine it up
@@ConnorHolland Sorry, I assumed it is stainless steel. Maybe some wax or something would be a good idea to try prevent rusting.
Place your bets, lads. How long until Connor hydroforms his floor?
