    I can't click on the notification of a new video from Connor fast enough. And I bet all of the pillows in his house are beautiful yet uncomfortable. LOL

      Thanks for watching! I would definitely win any pillow fight

    Awesome! I never get sick of these experiments and projects!
    You’ve really got it down to a science now, looks great.

    What a crazy shape, amazing that you could weld that together.

    Interesting shape! I have no idea how you welded the last star, but looks like your welding has improved, so that's certainly that!

    Holy crap that is amazing, I knew where you were going, putting it together wise, but damn that finished article looked stunning 😍

    It's very Cylon! What a wild design.

      Yes it is! I hadn't thought of it before but now I want to make a Cylon Basestar

    Have you considered doing the hydroforming process in an oven or forge to keep the metal more ductile? What about using hot pressurized oil instead of water for the process?

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem +1

      A technique I want to try is getting the piece red hot in a forge/furnace, then inflating with compressed air. There are videos of Elizabeth Brim demonstrating the process. I think this piece would have inflated more if the metal was hot

    Nice work👍 what s your idea about making a video for making hollow sphare by "explosion hydroforming "?

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem

      Could be fun, I assume they use explosives for large spheres made from thick steel because they need much more pressure to form

    I wonder how a laser welder would do. If it worked better than a tig, maybe you could use thinner sheet? IDK

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem +1

      I'd like a laser welder once they become cheaper. TIG does do pretty well, the thinnest metal I use is 0.7mm stainless (haven't tried thinner yet), but there has to be the right balance between strength and flexibility

      I use a Cotech 90 bar pressure washer, any cheap machine should work

    What was that powdered stuff you rubbed onto the piece at the end??

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem +3

      Graphite powder, that embeds into the paint and makes it reflective

    Have you done any aluminium hydro forming ?

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem +1

      Just one test piece, where I learned the welds need to be annealed otherwise they crack easily

  • @quarteratom

    How did you even veld the last piece?

    • @ConnorHolland
      @ConnorHolland  Před rokem

      Had to weld it side-on at a steep angle, but fortunately it wasn't too difficult
