    Great setup! I like your creativity on using car seats. I think it would have been a better deal, if you sourced a used Epson 5030ub, over the 2150. They can be found for very cheap, since people are making the move to 4k.

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před měsícem

      I appreciate it! thanks!. Also, the 5030ub has a higher contrast ratio, however it isn't 4k. And also the offset center lens ratios wouldn't work with my setup unless I use keystone ( which reduces image quality ). Its the downfall of having a tight room with limited projection geometry lol. I appreciate the recommendation though! thanks!

    Great video. I watched these videos about 8 times. I have 2 of these engines to rebuild. One of the engine is Reverse Rotation. What information can you give me regarding the difference in parts for the rebuild?

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před 2 měsíci

      That is a good and rare question. The reverse rotation engines require a different set of Rear main seal + timing cover seals. These seals are designed with an angle to them to reflect crank rotation. So this is very important, and easily missed. The other thing that needs to be addressed is the Piston Directions. In the conventional rotating setups, the pistons usually have a dot which is to point towards the front of the motor. In your reverse setup, you need to point the dot towards the rear of the motor. The piston rings follow the piston orientation. And last but not least, your timing set is different, you don't use a timing chain, instead there is a 2 gear system. This will maintain the camshaft, oil pump, and distributor directions. So the only thing that rotates differently in your setup, is the crank, and nothing else. I hope this helps.

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před 3 měsíci

      Hi. and yes, I would recommend using marine gaskets. They have a stainless steel or aluminum construction in the water passage-ways to prevent corrosion from the lake water. Regular gaskets don't have this issue because of the chemicals and lubricants in coolant fluids. As for the sealer, it's Permatex Aviation Form A Gasket. I hope this helps!

      @glock22357 Před 7 měsíci

      @@DarkBlood666 17 years? Must not have learned much. It's not about how much you could GAIN with a CAI, it's about how much you are LOSING by utilizing basically NO air intake system, and just letting hot under-hood atmosphere feed the engine. Beyond stupid.

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před 7 měsíci

      Having done this for roughly 17 years. I can confidently state that a CAI in its best case will provide about 15 HP but on average only do about 3-6 HP. And for LS engines, these intakes are pretty. However, I'd recommend going through the full build starting from the first video as I do state the original goal for the motor. Thanks for the constructive criticism, though.

    Great job dude hey do you need to take off the pan to get to the timing chain cover gasket I have a bit of leak also I have really good risers but want to keep it that way it was a freshwater engine but now it's in miami so naturally going to be using in saltwater think if I paint it inside with good rust engine paint will help or it's kinda pointless? Thanks in advance would like a 2nd opinion

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před 10 měsíci

      Hi. and Thanks for watching! The chain cover cannot come off without removing the pan. it has a lip which holds the gasket, and the gasket is fastened between the oil pan and the block. the only way to do this, is if your willing to cut the gasket right where the lips are, and then reseal is with silicone, but this is very unlikely to hold. As for the paint, painting will always help prevent rust. so if you can get a good clean surface, then its worth doing a quick coat or 2 of paint. The best option is to do, is to bring the block down to bare metal, prime it, then paint it. but this is not always an option. I hope this helps.

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical Před rokem

      Hi blake. So they are built slightly differently. The head gaskets for marine applications use stainless steel since the water passing through the heads isn't treated/lubricated. And there's an extra steam water port on the merc block, but this can be ignored. The camshaft is also different since boat motors are meant to operate generally at a constant rpm range. Apart from that and maybe the dipstick... you should be able to swap it over. This mercury build series i used a truck block from a 90s van. Hope this helps.
