    Damn nice I have 78 Bonneville 2 door hardtop with the olds 403,and a 78 4 door hardtop brougham with the all original 400 engine,but it's wrecked. I was told it was restorable that will be my first project when I graduate for auto tech. I'm a huge Pontiac fan.

    SO nice to see a Pontiac engine installed in a Pontiac instead of an ls engine. HOPE YOU installed forged rods and a Ram Air 4 oil pump in this engine, and a decent cam and compression.

      hehe. This motor is all stock. just a Daily. But the owner did taunt the idea of doing some work to it next time around ;). However, my next series of videos will be LS builds on 2nd gen Pontiacs, followed by a pretty big power-house project. So stay tuned :)

    I was a little worried when it looked like the gas tank was dripping onto the floor in one of the clips...

    LOVE these cars. These mid-late 70's A bodies and it's Ford, Chrysler and AMC counterparts are becoming the hot new builds, atleast out here in the Southwest/West U.S.. I belong to a rather large car club and literally every project since the Covid lockdowns and since has been a Mid-Late 70's car/truck from one of the "Big 4". You can buy them running and driving cheap, often running and driving and the majority of them still registered and tagged. The parts are still available at parts stores and parts warehouses and the aftermarket is coming around to body and interior parts. Plus alot of them are past the Smog date in most states, meaning they don't have to pass emmisions tests anymore. Here in Arizona it's 42 years, so anything older than1981 doesn't need smogged so you can take all that crap off and build a proper engine for a Restomod. I've been working on a 73 Buick Regal that I paid $1200 for and after airing up the tire and putting fresh gas in drove it home, for the last year ish and I'm absolutely in love with it.

      Yea I've been playing with these old cars forever. I've also owned a 73 buick ( century ) big car with a massive bumper and it was a daily driver. Love these big cars.

      @@DarkBloodMechanical The Regal and Century are the same car except for the roof and the Engine packages. The Regal's roof was square and the Century was round, The Regal came standard with a 350 but had an option for a 455, The Century came standard with the 231 with options for the 305and 350 plus they had a "performance" option for the 455, then they combined them in 76 and then seperated them again in the 80's.

      @@TheREALOC1972 You know your stuff ! yes, that is correct, mine had the 350 in it and had the notorious low oil pressure issues. The first thing we usually do with those motors is swap the stock oil pump with a pump that has the steel base-plate vs the aluminum one. And check all tolerances on the pumps. This way the pump will reduces its wear and tear on that plate.

    • @TheREALOC1972
      @TheREALOC1972 Před rokem

      @@DarkBloodMechanical Yep, all those 350's in the 70's were bad on the low oil pressure. The Regal was marketed to young 20 somethings and middle agers going through mid life crisis, that's why they only made a 2 door version all teh way up to the mid 90's and the Century was mostly 4 doors and marketed to grandma Martha and Brad and Karen with the 3 young kids. That's why they had the different engine options, They were the exact same car bumper to bumper and up to the top of the A and B pillars though.

    yeeee! sweet shit as always dude, and not a lot of people know this, but purple alternator mounting brackets actually increase horsepowers.

    It's a Chevrolet 5.0L because GM put the entire Chevrolet undercarriage into the Canadian market Pontiacs.

  • @calvincrews3885

    Correct me if I’m wrong but is it the 400 BBP or SBC V8 engine

    • @DarkBloodMechanical
      @DarkBloodMechanical  Před rokem +1

      Pontiac never really labelled their engines as Big block, nor small block like chevy does. So we just refer to it as a pontiac 400. However, they can be stroked, and pontiac does make a 455, but they are not considered a Big block pontiac. The original motor that came in this parisienne was however a Small Block Chevy because it was produced here in canada. Hope this helps.
