    Hi! I have a question: could you eleborate in the SECAM system? I want to buy a Sony vx2000 from Japan, will I face any problems if I try to digitize the tapes via a tape converter?

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096 Před dnem

      Hello, SECAM is used by certain countries in Europe such as Russia, France and I believe Africa. Japan uses NTSC which is the same system as ours. When you buy the camera from Japan just confirm that it is NTSC and you should be fine. If in fact, it is SECAM it will not be compatible and you will not be able to digitize the tapes properly.

    Because of your channel I have ended up buying both an RX100 vii and a Nikon P1000 in the past 2 months! You are not good for my bank balance! As a side note I already had an RX100 ii and an RX1 from when I bought them when they were new around 10 years ago. Both cameras are still going strong. The RX100 ii with a full size flash on the hotshoe is a sight to behold! Back then at the time I wanted to take the best quality pictures of my new family so made the investment and I am so glad I did. Smartphones even to this day just do not compare. I have never felt the need to upgrade but with these new 2 additional cameras I thought I would get them while I can before they disappear forever. They may just be the last 2 cameras I ever buy. I’m from the UK but if I ever make it on holiday to New York I will be sure to visit the corner of 1st and 73rd to take a photo of the famous street signs! Anyway keep up the great videos, they are always an entertaining watch :) I really appreciate the effort you put into them. All the best.

      Haha! Great comment. Well, I wish I was getting a commission or some sort from either Sony or Nikon based on what you spend but oh well! That RX100ii with a full size flash must be very interesting to see. I am actually entertaining of doing a video on the original RX100 (just got my hands on one) to see how much improvement there has been with the current model. If Sony does actually come out with a successor to these RX models, I do think it will be the RX1 due to the Fuji x100 craze! And for sure, if you ever make it to NY let me know and I'll give you a tour of the 1st and 73rd corner and get you a coffee! Thanks again for your uplifting words.

    Great comparison. I actually got a RX100 VII at the start of May because my sister's graduation is in July and we haven't had a family point and shoot cam since the mid to late 2000s and also I thought with some research it'd be the best entry into concert photography without hopefully having many issues with taking it to gigs and such. I do have a question though as you mentioned it causing 1080p and not 4k on other modes (on the canon), does the movie button work perfect on any mode for the Sony*? I always change the top dial to the movie one but probably lose time going from my default shutter priority to that. I've got some great shots in the last month with the RX100 VII too. A perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to get some photos of Keanu Reeves playing with his band

      @techtoremember8096 Před 3 dny

      Hi there ! Cool about Keanu Reeves! Yes the Sony button works properly Whatever mode you set in the menu , it will shoot (4k or 1080p) when you press record regardless what mode the PASM dial is in Canon cameras don’t behave that way- Even if you set the video to be 4k in the video menu - if you press record in any photo mode on the top dial- you’ll only get HD Takes some getting used to and doesn’t make sense to me but that’s how it works !! Thanks for your comment

    In my country the Sony Rx100 vii is just short of $400usd more than the Canon G5x mkii at its original retail price, it only makes sense it has better autofocus and better imaging. Canon has better user experience, it has touch screen control, aperture ring at the front of the camera, an exposure dial and better feel/ grip. $400 more for better autofocus on a compact camera with only slightly better sharpness, is it really worth it in 2024😂 It does zoom to 200 mm but again is it worth it on a compact camera? Canon is never going to release another compact camera again, this is almost a known fact. The current ones they’re still selling will probably be discontinued in another couple of years. It’s looking like Canon is going towards the route of low end APSC like the R100 & R50 to replace their compact cameras.

    Sony pics seem to pop a bit more, there is no comparison in video, Sony wins hands down. There is also more range and a much better auto-focus. The biggest issue with Sony is the price. It costs almost as much as a full frame A7C! I enjoyed the comparison, please keep them coming

I need to shop around now for the best deal, initial shopping comparisons show very little competition in pricing, are Panasonic and \ or retailers manipulating the prices here in the UK (would not be surprised if they were - we are regularly abused in this way). I know photographers who live near me with this camera and it really has a hard time in low light filming birds. In wide open scenes it is on par with my current Lumix FZ1000ii. The Lumix is 200mm/8x shorter but at the price point 1/2 price too. With the extra money saved on the Lumix I purchased 3 nice high end ND Filters, a sweet Polarizer, Intervolometer, UV filter and additional batteries, a nice tripod and camera case plus cleaning kit. Even still had $400 left over compared to the RX10 Mk4. Have to admit the Phase detect is super compared to the contrast detect on the FZ1000ii. However, I will pass on this camera and go for a Used Canon 7D Mkii for $600 at an online retailer as well as a Sigma FF/EF mount 160/600mm Sport lens all around the same price much better quality🎉🎉

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096 Před 7 dny

      Yeah the software in the Pinnacle can be very finicky. The easiest thing to do would be to get a standalone DVD recorder. They are basically home DVD players but you could also record to a DVD-R disc. They used to make those, Panasonic and Sony had a few. You would have to buy them second hand now since they are no longer produced. as burning DVD's is a thing of the past. You can try looking up Roxio DVD software. I was going to review that I just haven't gotten to it yet. That is another option.

    Have you used the mark 3 version of this camera at all, and if so how did it compare? I really want either the 3 or 4, but the 4 is just far too expensive for me, even used they are close to or exceeding £1000. The mark 3's are still very expensive too, but if I can find one for around £600 I'll probably go for it. I have a panasonic FZ2000 but I think I'm going to return it, viewing the images on a PC they just aren't as sharp as I expected which is a shame because it's so nice to use.

  • @TimKaseyMythHealer
    @TimKaseyMythHealer Před 9 dny

    Here are my findings with the Nikon P1000 camera. I use this camera for search and rescue as well as recovery activities at 1 to 1.5 mile distances: 1) Use a heavy duty tripod. Set the tripod low with you sitting in a chair. Sitting in a chair will be better than standing, you need all the stability you can get. Wind speeds over 15mph are not going to help, and being low to the ground will help reduce the effects of wind speeds, or camera jitter. Such distances will take time to record, and sitting is going to make the experience more comfortable. This will allow lower shutter speeds resulting in lower ISO levels, reducing grain, allowing higher shutter speeds that will make the image sharp when heat waves are present. 2) Don't take photos, take videos. The knowledge of astronomical video is needed to understand why video works better than photographs. 3) At 1 mile (or greater) distances, you are going to have heat waves to deal with. This will occur at all times, and must be managed. Heat waves are what astronomical photographers must manage, it is a part of what they deal with always. 4) Moving through your video frame by frame, watching the undulations of the heat waves is going to help you find what parts are sharp, and what parts are out of focus. Image stacking will be needed if you wish to make an entire image in focus, but if you are just trying to identify objects at a mile, like fingers on a hand (human remains?) you will be fine. 5) Start the video and then adjust focus with the manual ring. The auto focus doesn't work at 1 mile or more. 6) If you need to zoom in to 5,000 times, switch the video (in your software) to green grayscale, and you will be amazed by how much detail you can see in the image. Green grayscale seems to cut through some type of diffusion happing in the blues & reds, it may be the wavelength of green that results in a sharper green grayscale. 7) The heatwaves need to be stopped, and in order to do this you will need to increase the shutter speed to 500+, the higher you go, the more the ISO will need to be increased. There comes a point when the ISO brings in so much grain that the clarity (not focus) is better at a lower ISO, but it depends on the object size you are trying to capture at 1 mile. Do you need to identify fingers? This is possible. 800 ISO with a shutter speed of 650 can achieve amazing results at a mile. 8) Set all vivid/custom adjustments as far as they will go: sharpness all the way up, contrast all the way up, intensity all the way up.

    Such a pity ccd-v5000 range were not as well built with internal components. I have seen loads for sale as not working, have two myself both of which don’t work, I think it was the capacitors which leaked in these. Vx1e I have is fantastic

    I am almost 80 years old. I travel around the world often. I was carrying a Nikon D850 with long lenses for great wildlife shots. But, it just got crazy. In Norway, I tripped while carrying so much weight. Nothing broken or scratched, but never again. I bought a Lumix FZ 1000m2. I like a lot about it, but it is somewhat complicated to use-consistently. Anyway, Now, I am deciding which one to buy here. So far, for me its about the quality of the image and I am still favoring the Sony with its 600mm zoom. The negative is the Sony only shoots to F/4. The small Nikon sensor is a negative. Great comparison video. Thanks

      Hi there. I hope you were ok after tripping! That's one way to spoil a vacation. I actually took the RX10 mark IV to Texas and if you check that video out on my channel, I found that the F4 really was not that limiting. The F4 by the way is at telephoto ranges, and for wide angle you still have the fast f 2.4 aperture. I was surprised how well it did even in lower light situations. It really is a great camera and yes image quality is better than the Nikon. Thanks for the comment.

    Really good and helpful video! I'm looking for a camcorder with a nice wide angle lens and night vision (infrared) for investigative work. Considering the Panasonic WXF1 vs. Sony AX53. I like the Nightshot switch on the Sony's rather than digging into menus on the Panny. Wondering if anyone can give me a good comparison of these two regarding stabilization (hand-held most of the time), sharpness and quality of video, and infrared video performance. Thanks!!!

      I have both. Nothing and I mean nothing will beat the Sony AX53's stabilization. At lower zoom ranges, they're equal, but once you start climbing up there to the 20, 40, 100x ranges, only the Sony can keep up. The Panasonic's zoom will start to bounce if you move even a little bit so you have to use a tripod or keep 100% still. Now, with the Sony; the stabilization only works if you have the camera hand held, if you use a tripod or rest the camera on something, the best-in-class stabilization for some reason will automatically disable since it has no gyro data to base it's position on, this is a known design flaw. Regarding the sharpness, the Sony takes it again. I don't know if it's just my WXF1, I doubt it since it's new, but reading some reviews online, others noticed the same problem, the amount of grain in the 4k footage makes it almost completely unusable, especially when compared to the Sony which has near cinema quality 4k when you factor in the dynamic range. The Panasonic's dynamic range is pretty pathetic, saturated colors, blown whites and crushed blacks, classic. I did a direct sun light test that the Panasonic failed before the sunlight even hit the lens, it could not adapt. Infrared is perfect on both. Better on the Sony because of the sharper image, but only on the WXF1 can you switch the IR mode on and off while in Wi-Fi mode, you can't do that on the AX53... in fact, you can't control much of anything via wifi on the AX53. On the panasonic, I can switch to 1080p IR or normal and 4k IR or normal all from Wi-Fi much faster than if I touched the camera. The amount of Wifi options on the WXF1 is pretty amazing compared to the two options of live view and zoom on the AX53. On the AX53, the zoom over Wifi is as slow as Sony could make it. The Wifi on the WXF1 is more reliable than the sony, but not as stable, what that means is that you won't disconnect until you run out of battery from the Panasonic, but the connection itself (depending on where you are) will be very sticky, freezing in and out, the opposite is true for the sony, you might disconnect randomly and have to reconnect, but once you're connected, you won't have any glitching or freezing no matter where you are. The 1080p 60p with HDR is a major redeeming feature of the WXF1. It's actually really impressive 1080p that competes with the AX53 in 4k. I don't use it because panasonic disabled HDR options if Wifi mode is used, and I control everything over wifi because the touch screen is awful. The touch screen is better on the AX53 than the WXF1.

    I have three AX53s the image stabilisation is the best out there! Just wished they brought out a 4k 60p with the same image stabilisation 😊

    Do you know how to delete a photo or video on the basic memory? I can't get any SD card to work, so I'd need to keep the provided memory mainly empty. I only have the battery charger cable.

      You have to get a really old SD card to work Don’t you see a delete option when you view the photo ?

      I found how to delete the supplied memory:: Mode, My Works, menu, select Delete One An Old SD card a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB, will load ,the camcorder notes "CARD CHANGE" Then in Menu find Format, YES, and the works go to the SD Card.

      Thanks for all your help. I have to document some of my work with photos and sometimes short videos. My usual camera is many times heavier and bulkier.

    great video, I have the opportunity to get one of these, would be mainly for recording choir concerts where the lighting can often be low mid concert except for on the stage, do you think this would do the job? as it would free up my sony 6400 to take photos whilst camcorder does the video work

      @techtoremember8096 Před 12 dny

      Hi there. Thanks for the comment. Concerts can be tricky because if you leave the camera to go to auto, sometimes with the crazy lighting and the fact that there are often spot lights on the performer etc shots can be overexposed. Fortunately, the camera has an ability to lower exposure so you may need to do that, and adjust your exposure but otherwise, I think the camera should do a fine job. The long zoom especially would help zero in on the performers.

    Thanks for the review. I have the AX700 and I haven't started to use it yet. You've inspired me to get it out of the box as I've been a bit scared of its features!
